To me, seeing how this story is radically improved over the manga just goes to show that Shonen Jump getting their hands in to author's room is a blight. Tite could've easily had all of this put into the manga when the run was going on all those years ago and yet because Shonen Jump didn't feel Bleach was being a cash cow they tried to boot Tite out the room faster. The moral of the story is, fuck Shonen Jump's CEO's. Stay the fuck out the kitchen and let the chief cook in fucking peace.

It really works in the idea that “soul reapers have to sacrifice everything to save the Soul society” while for the squad zero “they have to sacrifice everything to protect the soul king”.
I really like the concept that the 0 Squad have to seal their true power away in order to preserve the stability of reality. And the only way to unlock that power, is to sacrifice lives. It fits very well with the whole motif of the Soul Society, that any amount of sacrifice to maintain the status quo is justified. Ichibe being the exception to this rule, also fits very well knowing what he is like.
It also brilliantly foreshadows Uryu's return to Ichigo's side! (Unlike the others, his unique banner from Senjumaru has nothing to do with dying, instead subtly spelling out what happens in the manga)
Personally I am loving Kubo's continued theme in expressing "the price of power" and how it is repeatedly being demonstrated through the Liutenent/Captains Soul Reapers, Yamamoto, and now Zero Division and why they unfortunately are all destined for Hell. The more powerful you become as a Balancer the more of a risk you yourself become to the very reality you are meant to protect just by existing. And for some reason only Hell can process these powerful souls not the current system. And even then it is a slow process. Also, one thing that had me lose my goddamn mind was Kubo's decision to turn the receiving of Aschwalen into Rain Drops. It characterizes Ywach so much and how he views himself and his power through the fragment of his soul we see inside Ichigo that is known as Zangetsu. "Ichigo.....do you know how I hate the rain?" Now we know why Ywach Zangetsu hates the rain. It's a symbol of his power. The very thing he is trying to erradicate and fears. To Ywach, the rain symbolizes death.
There is also a reason why the division zero can be revived because if one of them died it can easily disrupt the balance since one of them can shock the three realms
I think Old Man Zangetsu might inherit the Almighty i mean bruh he is op as heck if you think about it he has the same power as Ywach being able to give power to others and absorb the power of others Because he can give power to ichigo the power he took from Hollow Zangetsu 😮
kubo's theme of "the price of power" is fascinating, showcasing the risks and destinies of powerful characters. the concept of Hell processing powerful souls adds depth to the world. and the symbolism of rain for Yhwach's power is mind-blowing! it adds a new layer to his character.
My headcannon is that Rukia said that only the royal task force can destroy menos because they were considered rare enough to not really teach much about them, besides the fact that they exist. Especially to a girl from rukongai. After she was adopted by Kuchikis she got an early graduation and went straight to The Gotei 13. Makes sense she would have holes in her education
I'm really just hoping they retcon the ending so we actually see what was so dangerous about Ichigos bankai. It was so dangerous that even Yhuwach and his Almighty destroyed it so he wouldn't have to face it. If they retcon it I'm gonna scream like a fangirl in my pillow 😂.
Nah the ending will be the same but the execution will be better Zangetsu is still the key to defeat ywach but it will be better explained and better executed also

No matter how wondrous the future you choose to create is, I will have already seen it” So essentially unlike Yhwachs ability that allows him to see & essentially cherry pick any possible future that he sees & bring it into his present, Ichigo has the power to create the future by ‘manipulating’ the present that he sees This is why Yhwach taunted him; because Ichigo though his power is insane, against Yhwach it’s almost like fighting someone that can see whilst your blind, he creates the future but can only see ‘his own’ present, whereas Yhwach can literally see all of the futures that ichigo is bringing into existence as they are being made & manipulate them as he sees fit by changing them around to suit his benefit Personally I think this is indicative of Ichigo having a underdeveloped variant of the almighty (the power to manipulate existence on some scale; the future, the past, the present, all of the above etc) Yhwach can see (and therefore influence) a near infinite amount of futures at once & cherry pick them at will, whereas ichigo can only see the moment he is witnessing & influence it to create a future, essentially if Ichigo was omnipresent (everywhere at once) he could literally manipulate every present moment at once & create the future itself in its totality & then he would likely take Yhwach (with the SK amp) down by himself, but because he can only see & manipulate what he can see with his limited scope of vision, he isn’t able to demonstrate completely dominating control like Yhwach That being said though Ichigo is still seen as a massive threat (hence why Yhwach broke it) & for good reason; Yhwach saw what his power was (via his foresight) & the fact that it would give even him trouble if he just let him use it freely, Yhwach manipulates nigh limitless futures, Ichigo creates his own
With the balance being threatened in the Hell arc, it may mean that the zero squad will be able to use all of their bankai's simultaneously due to Hell being the dominant world.
Besides giving ichigo’s last bankai more time to shine, expanding the zero squad fight was the #1 thing I wanted from the anime!! My assumption is that the bankai shown from the zero squad seals each of their fates, and she uses her life for the sealing, which is why the much weaker gotei was able to win later in the series, and why the whole zero squad was dead as we see in the manga. Using their deaths to ensure victory, even against yawach.
What if the blunder of the Squad 0 fights in the manga was just Sosuke Aizen using his powers on the readers making Squad 0 look like a joke but have them revealed to be absolute tanks in the anime?
I hope by the time Ichibei regenerates his power after being revived, he joins Ichigo and Aizen in the final fight against Yhwach along with Kenpachi (being healed by Orihime) and Urahara to fight Yhwach. The 5 War Powers vs Yhwach would be such a good fight.
No need Ichibei failed VS base Yhwach Reio is far above that and Zaraki and Urahara wouldn't last nanoseconds realistically maybe Urahara can last a bit with Kanon Biraki Benihime Aratame but Zaraki can't even withstand his own power let alone use it in a fight VS Yhwach who can cancel the life subscription of any Bankai the instant it happens in the end Ishida Ichigo and Aizen are the only pieces that matter here the other 3 special war powers wouldn't make a difference and unless they nerf the heck out of Yhwach by putting limits on him it wouldn't make a lick of sense for them to even last a few minutes *at a very extreme best*

Senjumaru’s bankai is a good way to explain why the soul reapers beat the elite qunicies, as every method used was a hard counter. I think she altered the fates of the qunicies to come into contact with their hard counters

This got me curious about the actual power level of Kirio Hikifune. She was under Yamamoto when she was still the Division 12 captain. Does it mean from her tenure as captain she was much more poweful than Yamamoto or there is a significant power boost provided to whoever gets promoted to Royal Guard?
In the "Spirits Are Forever With You" novel the seventh Kenpachi, Kuruyashiki, stated that the captain of the 12th Division (i.e. Kirio Hikifune) was one of the people who can take out a small mountain sized Menos (that was taught to require several captains working together to subdue) with the same level of ease as he can. The others he listed are Yamamoto (the head captain), and the heads of the Kuchiki and Shihoin clans (members of the Five/Four Great Noble houses with abnormal spiritual pressures even for captains). Whether you consider the light novels canon is up to you, but it's interesting IMO how out of all the Zero Division, Hikifune is the one member who's combat prowess was confirmed and hyped up to be high captain class. And that was before she joined the Zero Division and presumably gotten stronger.
They will get to shine in the sun especially since Senjumaru really took everyone by storm. I like the theme of them keeping their overwhelming power in check lest they themselves cause the destabilization they are meant to prevent as their literal job. It's both sobering and ironic.
The worst thing is that they were practically off-screned - which is a plague of many mangas, where an Author embraces the limitation and decides to not show things, but rather tell
After rewatching the first 2 cours with the misses, i still believe that the zero squad should have managed to outright kill at least one YH royal guards.
I hope we get to see the other squad 0 Bankai. From how things can be the anime can provide a different story but still the same conclusion. But the 3 cour will highlight on why the Schutzstaffel is superior instead of a offscreen win.

well each member is more powerful than yama. 5 yamas would still be wekear than the 5 zero squad members. old war yama was strong but he is still significantly weaker than an individual zero squad. remembered he didnt even battle ywach alone and win. the anime clearly shows he had the help of the original gotei 13 and his lieutant to help him beat a ywach whos almighty powers were sealed.

As far as the "weakness" of the Zero-Division in the manga goes, I was under the impression that the Kubo was told by the manga publishers to "wrap it up," and so didn't have the opportunity to display the Zero-Division's true power the way he would have liked, which *IS* being done in the anime.
If Yamamoto was welcomed into the 0 squad & had his bones enhanced by the soul kings power I genuinely think he would be the strongest of them all, but seen as he’s not, all of them are clear of him
7 months late but Yamamoto has no feats that put him above any of the Squad 0. And regardless non of the members have their bones "enhanced" but their bones are used as a key so they can access the royal palace and all of their lives are connected through their bones as well

Senju and Ichibe are a total badasses, I'm still not so sure about the rest of them. Senju is one of my favorite characters period now. She's like a female version of Kenpachi, but with a dark, elegant, and graceful style. I especially love how she opened.
At least the anime done Squad Zero some justice. The fact they were holding back the entire time and one of the 4 members can only go all out if the other 3 dies is possibly what Kubo wanted. Had Shonen Jump not interfered the Thousand Year Warfare arc would be a lot better on the manga. Can't wait for next year when Part 3 drops.

I personally want to see nimaiyas full power because i think as the blacksmith of the shinigami he does actually have his own Zanpakuto because he never states that sayafushi is his Zanpakuto its just one of the many he has created and we have seen from the sword 5 and that hall of manifested Zanpakuto women that he can seemingly create full fleged Zanpapakuto that are thier own spirits with thier own unique abilites and forms without a owner so i think if he was able to utilizes his full power he could just spawn any Zanpakuto into existance and use it in battle

Why yamamoto wasn't promoted to the zero division ? he founded the gotei 13 and some of the zero division members were captain of the gotei before. Yamamoto was the embodiment of soul society history he met all the requirements

Wish list: Ukitake having more to do besides sacrificing himself only to die immediately. - perhaps fight and Bankai Better fate to surviving sterntitter besides dying almost immediately after confronting Y.H. Better Bazz B payoff as his manga battle was very one sided. Isshin/Ryuken contribution. They seemed so random in anime. More grimjow/nel content! Ichigo /Uryu fight or at least Ichigo Bankai. Longer Aizen/Y.H battle Rewarding conclusion to komomura arc. Maybe playing a small part in taking Y. H . Down. Cleaner conclusion to the battle. I know I’m asking a lot and I’m sure I’m missing more, but it seems that there will be room for roughly 7-9 episodes worth of anime exclusive scenes.

I think the anime totally fixed the Zero Division. But I want to know how how the anime will handle the rest of the Ichibe vs Yhwach fight. And then know where everyone of the Zero Division will be because after their defeat in the manga we never see them again when the Royal palace becomes WharWelt.
My wish is for the final battle against yhwach to be monumental, throw everyone and everything at him and then have Ichigo and aizen flex there bankai on him before his defeat

My headcannon is that Rukia said that only the royal task force can destroy menos because they were considered rare enough to not really teach much about them, besides the fact that they exist. So essentially unlike Yhwachs ability that allows him to see & essentially cherry pick any possible future that he sees & bring it into his present, Ichigo has the power to create the future by ‘manipulating’ the present that he sees
This is why Yhwach taunted him; because Ichigo though his power is insane, against Yhwach it’s almost like fighting someone that can see whilst your blind, he creates the future but can only see ‘his own’ present, whereas Yhwach can literally see all of the futures that ichigo is bringing into existence as they are being made & manipulate them as he sees fit by changing them around to suit his benefit
Personally I think this is indicative of Ichigo having a underdeveloped variant of the almighty (the power to manipulate existence on some scale; the future, the past, the present, all of the above etc) Yhwach can see (and therefore influence) a near infinite amount of futures at once & cherry pick them at will, whereas ichigo can only see the moment he is witnessing & influence it to create a future, essentially if Ichigo was omnipresent (everywhere at once) he could literally manipulate every present moment at once & create the future itself in its totality & then he would likely take Yhwach (with the SK amp) down by himself, but because he can only see & manipulate what he can see with his limited scope of vision, he isn’t able to demonstrate completely dominating control like Yhwach
That being said though Ichigo is still seen as a massive threat (hence why Yhwach broke it) & for good reason; Yhwach saw what his power was (via his foresight) & the fact that it would give even him trouble if he just let him use it freely, Yhwach manipulates nigh limitless futures, Ichigo creates his own
With the balance being threatened in the Hell arc, it may mean that the zero squad will be able to use all of their bankai's simultaneously due to Hell being the dominant world.

Besides giving ichigo’s last bankai more time to shine, expanding the zero squad fight was the #1 thing I wanted from the anime!!
My assumption is that the bankai shown from the zero squad seals each of their fates, and she uses her life for the sealing, which is why the much weaker gotei was able to win later in the series, and why the whole zero squad was dead as we see in the manga. Using their deaths to ensure victory, even against yawach.

Senjumaru’s bankai is a good way to explain why the soul reapers beat the elite qunicies, as every method used was a hard counter. I think she altered the fates of the qunicies to come into contact with their hard counters
I'm pretty sure what we got in the anime is what we were supposed to get in the manga I'm glad Kubo took this opportunity to show what squad zero could really do and I don't even think they're finished yet

This got me curious about the actual power level of Kirio Hikifune. She was under Yamamoto when she was still the Division 12 captain. Does it mean from her tenure as captain she was much more poweful than Yamamoto or there is a significant power boost provided to whoever gets promoted to Royal Guard?

In the "Spirits Are Forever With You" novel the seventh Kenpachi, Kuruyashiki, stated that the captain of the 12th Division (i.e. Kirio Hikifune) was one of the people who can take out a small mountain sized Menos (that was taught to require several captains working together to subdue) with the same level of ease as he can. The others he listed are Yamamoto (the head captain), and the heads of the Kuchiki and Shihoin clans (members of the Five/Four Great Noble houses with abnormal spiritual pressures even for captains).
Whether you consider the light novels canon is up to you, but it's interesting IMO how out of all the Zero Division, Hikifune is the one member who's combat prowess was confirmed and hyped up to be high captain class. And that was before she joined the Zero Division and presumably gotten stronger.

They will get to shine in the sun especially since Senjumaru really took everyone by storm. I like the theme of them keeping their overwhelming power in check lest they themselves cause the destabilization they are meant to prevent as their literal job. It's both sobering and ironic.

well each member is more powerful than yama. 5 yamas would still be wekear than the 5 zero squad members. old war yama was strong but he is still significantly weaker than an individual zero squad. remembered he didnt even battle ywach alone and win. the anime clearly shows he had the help of the original gotei 13 and his lieutant to help him beat a ywach whos almighty powers were sealed.

As far as the "weakness" of the Zero-Division in the manga goes, I was under the impression that the Kubo was told by the manga publishers to "wrap it up," and so didn't have the opportunity to display the Zero-Division's true power the way he would have liked, which *IS* being done in the anime.
One day I'll watch it. Hopefully before ichigo's son gets animated. Thank you for your coverage and insight.
If Yamamoto was welcomed into the 0 squad & had his bones enhanced by the soul kings power I genuinely think he would be the strongest of them all, but seen as he’s not, all of them are clear of him
7 months late but Yamamoto has no feats that put him above any of the Squad 0. And regardless non of the members have their bones "enhanced" but their bones are used as a key so they can access the royal palace and all of their lives are connected through their bones as well

Senju and Ichibe are a total badasses, I'm still not so sure about the rest of them. Senju is one of my favorite characters period now. She's like a female version of Kenpachi, but with a dark, elegant, and graceful style. I especially love how she opened.

At least the anime done Squad Zero some justice. The fact they were holding back the entire time and one of the 4 members can only go all out if the other 3 dies is possibly what Kubo wanted. Had Shonen Jump not interfered the Thousand Year Warfare arc would be a lot better on the manga. Can't wait for next year when Part 3 drops.

Why yamamoto wasn't promoted to the zero division ? he founded the gotei 13 and some of the zero division members were captain of the gotei before. Yamamoto was the embodiment of soul society history he met all the requirements

Yamamoto founded the Shin'ō Academy, which trained prospective Shinigami in the four arts and prepare them to be part of either the Onmitsukido, Kido corp or Gotei 13. Speaking of Gotei 13, he founded that too.
Hence, like the zero division, Aizen called Yamamoto "the living embodiment of Soul Society's history".
