This is a masterful synopsis. Gonna send a link to my best friend, she watches but hasn't read ahead so knows nothing of what is to come. This will be a good catch-up for her with the added names of the Quincy that the show only tells you (for most of them) if you can pause and read the ID cards that flash by.
I genuinely did not like the plot of the tybw arc but hearing you summarize the story so far changed my mind. You did an incredible job! If I wasn't hrs past bedtime I'd finish watching. You should definitely consider becoming a writer or audio book narrator!
Can't wait for cour 3 and the great clash of the heavy hitters. Still, seeing Soul Society get utterly steamrolled and put near collapse is still a chilling and iconic theme of the war. No wonder they were reeling for a substantial period of time afterwards.

I just want to say as someone who learned Japanese in highschool and repicking it back up, I love hearing you not stutter over the bankai and skikai names. Love watching your videos dude
I'm very amused by the idea that a group which beat down an exhausted and weakened Kenpachi, plus multiple other sternritter capable of fighting captains, could be meaningfully delayed by Byakuya, Rukia, Renji, Ikkaku, Hisagi and Yumichika while all of them are in Shikai. Or while *any* of them were in shikai. Rukia and Byakuya are the only people in that group with anything more than a poorly designed sword with no special powers, while every quincy there comes with crazy powers by default, and in the time it would take them to do more, someone should have been able to at least try to throw hands with Ichigo.
Correct me if I'm wrong but at 42:31 you spoiled the fact that the Soul King is Yhwach's father... Before I started Part 3 I watched this recap video and I was so confused because I never remembered it ever being said that the Soul King is Yhwach's father and after watching the end of Part 3 Episode 1 I am now even more certain it was never revealed in Part 1 or Part 2. Every reaction channel I've seen who has watched the ending of Part 3 Episode 1 all reacted like it was the first time it was revealed. I've even asked all my friends and they have all said they only found out at the end of Part 3 Episode 1 as well

tbf, Izuru is meant to be kept as a mystery and Part 2 already showcased how Mayuri is working on him so for all means and purposes anime onlys KNOW he is not dead yet. Shaz is literally just fodder lmao, he doesn't even have an official character and design sheet in the official anime web page for TYBW (while Ebern and Luders, the arrancars wroking for Yhwach at the start of the arc, do have one). Who knows if Beginning of the Revive Tomorrow is ever gonna get adapted, it is a short story.
But that took place during the 2nd division right? So it's probably to late for that and I'd honestly much rather spend remaining time of the last 26 episodes fleshing out important characters and battles
I would agree with Shaz being fodder and forgotten, but Berenice and Jerome got death art made of them and they had less lines of dialogue than Shaz.The fact he had none makes me think he will return .
Something Kubo overlookes is the error of allowing everyone in Soul Society to fly... Even Orihime and Chad. Souls can "fly" in the real world but in the past needed special equipment or abilities to do the same in the spirit worlds. Now, everyone just flying around and standing in air like Dragon Ball Z. 😅
I always thought that none of them can fly but just walk/run on air via reishi platforms. So using the tools to fly just meant that it was actually flying without using your own power. So who knows if they are somewhere where they can't make reishi platforms then the tools to fly can come in handy. And maybe for stealth reasons too since you can completely hide your energy and move around without needing to make any reishi platforms to travel? Of course the series never really explores this so it all ended up as wishful thinking on my part lol
I feel like bankai stealing was the biggest bullshit I've ever seen in a story. There was better ways to make the stern Ritter an actual threat other than pulling that plot convenience.
Agreed, but that comes with it's own set of complications. How would you justify a power up for all the captains? You could say they all didn't have true bankai. But then why would Ywach wait for them to train. Infact you could argue all the captains should have died too Plot holes on plot holes
@@Sasuke-Dono captains were not just conveniently able to cancel people abilities they were simply strong. While Quincy were strong but I feel like kubo made it clear most of them are weaker than captains and the only reason they were effective is because they can steal bankai.
the idea that "she shook the worlds..." is such an over hype. She only did so because of the massive imbalance of power both in the human world, and Hueco mundo due to all the deaths in hueco mundo and all the fullbringers with a piece of the SK in them, being in SS or Hueco mundo as well as powerful people like Kisuke and so on. It was the whole reason the others committed "sudoku" although they tried to make it an ego thing. It was because the SK couldn't maintain the worlds if she used bankai with them alive. Which is a testament to how much damage was done to the other worlds. Not how much power she actually had/has.
