Thanks, no mine doesnt have cruise on it. Mines just 2wd 5speed manuel. It gets good fuel mileage. Ive installed the K&N 57-9012 fipk on it and just put a set of NGK iridium IX plugs on it last week. Its gettin around 26_27 now, so realy cant complain. Looking forward to part 3!! Thanks again.
I put the NGK Iridium plugs on mine, too; they have worked out great so far. My truck is also 2WD, hence the turbo; since there's no way I'm going offroad, I figure I might as well make it into a fast(ish) street truck. You should consider installing a turbo kit on your truck, too; with the 5-speed, I'm sure it would be a blast to drive.
hey mines a 2000 5 speed 2.7 ref also my gas mileage is shite 16 omg if I'm lucky I shift at 3200-3400 plenty of reving at shifts I really don't care just wondering how u could get that mpg it rated 23 bran new just from spark plug s should I expect 20-23 mpg if I switch to ngk ?
Interesting, I wouldn't have thought they would be that different. The only Hilux I know for sure the process will definitely be the same on is a 2WD 3RZ Surf. Dropping the pan on a 4WD is also a major pain with the front diff in the way and all. Thanks for watching!
Hey where did you find that oil supply fitting for the remote oil filter housing to the turbo?? I'm having extreme difficulty trying to find one?? is there a part number or company i can order that from? i ended buying a JEGS fuel return fitting for the oil return from the turbo to the oil pan tho. I thank you for the video showing the auxillary pieces needed.
That came with the turbo kit, but if I had to guess not remembering specific details for that fitting, it's a BSPT x AN fitting (McMaster-Carr or another source may have what you need). You can reach out to Kris at KO Racing and he may be able to sell you just that part you need. Thanks for watching!
It could be a 2RZ/3RZ difference, model difference (4Runner vs Tacoma vs T-100), or you may have some aftermarket equipment on there. Thanks for watching!
The sheet metal the oil pan is stamped out of is too thin to properly tap, the only alternative option is an AN bulkhead fitting, but that is not ideal IMO. Thanks for watching!
If I might ask a dumb question, but the black "box" object that is shown near the beginning of the vid @1:00 that you show the new piece that comes with the kit. I have a 1996 4runner same engine everything but mine doesn't have that black box. when your K&N cold air intake is in place it lays directly behind and to the left of the support mount. just curios as to what it is, mine has 4 holes drilled through the wheel well there but the box is not there? thanks
That's the cruise control box (throttle cable from the pedal goes in, and a cable from the box goes to the throttle body). I'm going to guess that you probably don't have that option. If you do have cruise, it's aftermarket - the one you see on my truck is the factory-installed option. Thanks for watching!

Face Palm on placement of oil pick-up. This rig is doomed. WAY too high. I was looking for vids for basic install on my 3RZ, thank God I didn't listen to you guys. Turbos need a constant supply of oil, where you placed that pick-up, momentary at best. LIES.
That's not an oil pickup on the oil pan, that's the oil drain. It's as high as possible on the oil pan to avoid deadheading since it is a gravity drain. Please don't misinform others without the full understanding of a given system. Thanks for watching!

Id say it would, highly considering it. Waiting to see how yours does, and how well you like it.
I will definitely keep you updated. More videos to come. One more that is rendering as we speak as a matter of fact. It will be up shortly.

tired taking the sump off my 3rz hilux but you have to remove the whole steering rack off unlike the 4runner

so when can I drop my truck off for turbo set up? what's ur mpg?
It gets around 20 MPG combined mileage, biased toward city driving.

Does anyone know what size an fitting I would need if I wanted to tap the oil return instead of welding it?
