Amazing puffer thanks for sharing your experience I just picked one up a few days ago and there really isn't that much info on them out there. Great video

Thanks for sharing. Again, fascinating behaviour. Having kept African chiclids for 12 years, I also prefer tranquility. 🍀🍻🍀

Great videos! I appreciate how you give info and advice from direct experience. I have just purchased my first ever spotted Congo puffer and I'm super excited! I have multiple aquariums with different types of snails in each. I was wondering your opinion on if you thought Malaysian trumpet snails are a good food source for wearing down the puffers teeth? I have read online that people say they are too hard for puffers. It is definitely the most abundant snail type that I have so thats why I was wondering.

Hey thanks! Malaysian Trumpets are my least favorite for my puffers that I feed. They can be really difficult for a smaller puffer to chew up. I have a large female Spotted Congo Puffer that will blow through the sand looking for baby trumpet snails but she ignores the adults. I have stopped feeding adult trumpet snails for the most part. I prefer ramshorns and bladder snails but my water is also very hard and makes super hard snails. Your fish and snails could be a great combo because I know people that like trumpet snails for puffer food. Thanks again and take care!

Hello, thank you for your great videos! I also keep one of them in an 80 gallon tank, but he is always in the same corner between plants and I really mean always.. The aquarium is full of plants and wood and I would say perfect for this fish.. Do you think he needs a group to be happier?

He is eating well and looks healthy, but I always see other puffers being personal and interested swimming around and he is the opposite so I wonder if he is happy...

I think they are best in groups of 6 or more. I think they do good alone as well. Try to feed a variety of foods. I like scuds to keep them occupied. I also think they take more time than other fish to settle in. Thanks for stopping by and best wishes!

Do they chew up your plants?

    • @BecauseYourFish

Yes, my larger puffer seems to really enjoy munching plants. At first, she cleared out all the crypts and anubias plants and it took a long time to regrow. So I added hygrophila “Willow” angustifolio, it grows really fast and is pretty strong stuff and that really helped then she seemed to chill out on munching plants. She still does here and there but nothing like she was at first. Thanks for watching!
