What's wrong with this immigration officer ? He is an example of the problems we have in Ghana. Very shallow minded. That's why I always say "Not all advice from older people can be accepted because foolish people grow old too."

Loved the video...very enlightening. The government should focus on making rural areas better and this might even lead to a decline of informal settlement in the cities while creating more employment opportunities in rural areas.
They seem to follow the urban sprawl method. In fact, if you are Ghanaian can you tell me if the Accra/Greater Accra area is just that. Is it a city that is every expanding and then everywhere else is a connector to the next city? Is that the attempt? In most societies, they go from the cities outward.
This is the same situation we face in my country The Gambia. There are no jobs anymore in europe and america. (only if you are high educated in technologie, engineering if your diploma is accepted). There's a lot of unemployment here so don't think jobs here are easy. Already a lot of europeans and immigrants are suffering at the moment.
Awesome discussion. Hopefully the government can modernize to keep up with the demand. Thought more about it. If the government gave incentives to slow the mirgration it would be a win win. Don't stunt the growth of your young, educated, gifted populations. The rural area can be stabalized and the urban overcrowding can br curtailed. Please look at the migration patterns of blacks after the civil war in America during the Jim Crow era and other countries around the world. Get ahead of the problem. You can't risk loosing an entire generation of people, especially young people.

at the risk of getting some backlash, I have to say: all those entities, government, political leaders, those do not work. in the countries where democracy "works" (well, tries to work) their history goes back centuries: heads were chopped off, revolutions took place. world wars! and African societal structures were completely wiped off to give place to their system. we are too young in terms of nations to have such a system work like it does in the western world. we need strong leaders like the sort of Khaddafi (Sarkozy knew it and we all know how that turned out!). those governments are structured to benefit those who put the leaders in place. and those who were against it....well.. what happened to Thomas Sankara? Sekou Touré? Ruben Um Nyobe ? google it.

Why do young people prefer to move to big cities?
For a vehicle to apply their talents and seek opportunities
For more opportunities
More excitement, more people to meet, and not everybody knows who they are in the big city. More places to work. It's that way everywhere.
These discussions will change the face of the motherland. Keep up the great work.
