I love this so much. I could absolutely live there. I’m Norwegian, In 2004 I was on a motorcycle ride in the highlands in Scotland and I still think about it often. The beauty, the small villages on the coastline. It was pure magical.
We bought a derelict barn in SW France which we'll be forever renovating and like this owner, I had originally envisaged it as a place for family and friends to frequently be together. Not exactly a party house but kind of. That actually hasn't turned out to be the case and for a brief moment, I was sad about that but then I realised that we had in fact embraced the total opposite, just as the owner did. It was good to hear her articulate that with no regret; it made me realise that's exactly how I feel.
@@Songbirdstress It depends on how accessible the place is. I wouldn't be surprised if the most of the friends of the woman in video live in London which means that getting to the highlands is going to be quite a big endeavour. If though, this house was in Sussex, she'd probably have a regular stream of visitors.
I want to visit Scotland so badly. This video intensified that desire. Stunning views. (As usual, the architecture and design featured in the video is remarkable.)
@@phmwu7368 No mosquitos as such but the highland Midge is an annoying little thing which can be a problem in Summer, by September they are mostly history for the season but there are some well known repellents that are not totally toxic that you can use, a quick online search would sort you out. It is a extraordinarily beautiful part of the world, I need to go back again soon, maybe even move there to live for a while.
Saw this home shown in a magazine some time back. Loved it then. Seeing even more with this video it is truly spectacular. It evokes tranquility and honours the magnificent landscape upon which it sits. Really beautiful...
What beautiful house ,a place were you can just unwind and appreciate the surroundings nothing flash just a peaceful place I love it , thanks 🏴👍😊
A beautiful home in a stunning location. It looks like a home with a heart unlike some of the architectural masterpieces I've seen. Well done everyone. 👍
So much serenity with free space to roam and oodles of fresh air to breathe--so vital in the midst (still!) of a pandemic. It absolutely takes my breath away!
Love this! From the Big Windows, the Sunken Living room, that Kitchen Counter. Would do different kind of Wood throughout. Maybe somewhere warmer. But gives Peaceful Vibes ❤
Love all the floor to ceiling glass. Although, from a personal choice at night I would have to draw the the blinds / curtains just because of the complete darkness outside opposed to the internal light and the mind playing games of being watched - Crazy I know!.
I realize the focus is outward, but the interior design is lovely too. Although minimalistic and serene it doesn’t feel as monastic as those can be. This may be due to juxtaposing warm woods against the neutrals, and having some open shelving. A beautiful space.
Speaking as a native highlander, I do appreciate the architecture of some of the new builds that are popular at the moment but wish people would consider how their projects fit into the landscape a bit more. They always have these large, unnatural blocks of manicured lawn which really stick out against the landscape. It's all very well to enjoy the environment from your house, just make sure you're not making a blight on it for everyone else!
In terms of “being one with the land”, what about rebuilding on an existing site and not further destroying the ecology with new buildings? You can get the same results or even more creative results because the existing constraints
Reply to Ebb B - Thats illogical. If 2nd home owners were forced to sell what on earth makes you think first time buyers could afford to acquire these properties.
I muted the video and turned on the subtitles to save my ears from bleeding. The commentary also irked me because this is clearly just a "Ikea" type of designed house. Nothing more, nothing less. Ikea. No spirit, soul, character or any design in it. I was glad I x2 speed watched this
Rather the UK government should flood the housing market with millions of new homes in the decade or so, the ones which average people , even young people can truly afford. Prices could be matched the country's median income and only 15-20 years of sustainable mortgage. I'm talking about economical construction methods, prefabs with intensive quality checks for a better result. That would upset a lot of today's property owners.😊
@@theandroids That makes no sense whatsoever. There are many kinds of loans. A construction loan needs to be fully paid in a year, so if you live in the house, you need to have a ton of cash.

Stunningly beautiful, idyllic ... until you see a group of juveniles walking menacingly up to your property. Then it's a horror story. The Scottish Highlands are bereft of dangerous animals. There is only the indifferent 'sky' weather and the knowledge that humans are the only creature capable of monstrous acts... you'll ever see there. You'll confront this every time you look in the mirror... you'll know you're looking at the most dangerous creature in Scotland.

It's surprisingly difficult to get people to come to beautiful places. Same here. No matter.

short, sweet and beautiful. Wish this was shot in 4k though
A nice easy Munro is Ben Lawers as the car park is at 400m above sea level so it means you have less to climb to get to the summit.
Incredibly beautiful, I'm in love
A trully peace of Heaven on Earth. 🙏💚💙💚💚❤🐤🐦🐑🐣🐸🐟🌳🌱🍀
Very beautiful. I saw the Grand Designs episode in which it appeared. It might sound strange but I wondered if the area suffered with midges.
Scotland? Near a loch? Yep, devoured at times...Midges are no joke...I have seen grown men cry..
Oh and i love "Suffered" as the descriptor!
Midges and ticks, lyme disease is getting more common in the Highlands
Now that's how you do a feature window!

ummmmmmm. perfect.
Want to get outside and want to stay inside. Either will work perfectly at this place.
Does anyone know the name of the song?
Lovely house. Can you share the appropriate build costs with us, not including plot. Thanks

Generic stock music, track 572.

The inside is stunning as in the location & view but why does the outside of the building look like a 70s council house?
Asian/Eastern inspired---> Glory of G-d is in the east (Yesu/Jesus) John 3:16-18 ; Zech 13:9
they should tax these second homes into oblivion. Locals can barely afford to buy or rent anything
It's typical of the greed in Britain, they don't have a clue of give a fuck about anyone else!
yes. There is that.
Oh what it is to be wealthy! It’s a fine house though.

God, interiors that look like an upscale airport lounge are so soul destroying.

You can get a loan from the bank too and build a house like this. What do you think all these people millions sitting around.

Those sunken lounge’s are a folly, an architectural menace which make the space less usable.
The problem with all those plate-glass windows is that they are really good at killing birds.
Shame she doesn't live there full time.
