It was her first real test with me considering we were still getting comfortable with one another. But after the five-day trip, my only takeaway was how much of a dream she was to drive. The shortest day of driving I had was about 7 hours, with the longest being two days of 12 straight hours on the road. Not to mention changing conditions and what was a fully stuffed car with easily an extra ~800-1000 lbs of weight. She was comfortable all the way through, didn't feel heavy at all, the seats were amazing, and don't even get me started on fuel economy. Through various landscapes, (plains all the way to mountains, I averaged ~5 L/100km (~50 MPG). I grew up a Honda kid, but bought myself a Focus ST as my first "project car" when I was 19. Had it FBO and was an absolute blast to drive. Is the Civic an objectively slower car? Yes. Do I miss the ST sometimes? Of course, it was some of the most fun I'd ever had in a car. But my goodness 25-year-old me loves my SI. Sleek, refined, subtle yet with still enough in her to have some fun when you really want to. Feels like I went from your crazy college ex -- lots of fun and keeps you on your toes -- to my settle down phase. I love my Si.
Love how you integrate Emily not only as a passenger on your road trips but also into the review aspects of the video. 1:34 and elsewhere, superbly done!

I feel like most sedans and coupes are gonna get uncomfortable after driving I bg that long, not just from the seats but also just from being so close to the road
Maybe next year for the Si's final model year as it will be the Civic Si's 40th anniversary. Just so that I am on the same page as you, are you talking about that dark navy blue that was on the 90s Civic Si coupe?
@Mx5pro I figured out the blue you were talking about from the '90s-2000s Civic Si coupe that you would like to see on this car. It's called Electron Blue Pearl. I would love to see Electron Blue Pearl make a return on this car's final model year, or in the 12th gen Civic Si.

For those of you that own or drive one of these Hondas with Honda sensing and aren’t a fan of the radar cruise, you can hold down the follow distance button to completely disable radar cruise, so it just acts as a good old-fashioned static speed, cruise control. LKAS with traditional cruise control is my favorite configuration for my daily commute on the freeway in my Insight.

Not having air vents for the rear seats in 2024/5 is still wild and ultra cheap move from the manufacturers.. No USB-C ports, nothing.. this is insane. Is it really that "expensive" to add at least 1 or 2 ports of USB-C to the rear? I mean it's just some cables that they have to get to the rear seats..
27:00 YES! Gary, Indiana is famous for the MJ and the Jackson Five! Thanks to Emily for the musical history blurb! That's one of the great things about your guys' road tripping vids: you pick up some trippin' experiences along the way :)
I bought the Hybrid with the HPD Spoiler and I am not regretting it!! Fast of the line (even faster than the SI) and 50 mpg. Awesome car no matter the trim level.
I was wondering if that had anything to do with the MPG on the trip. I usually average just over 40mpg on my 30 mile highway commute at 75-80mph, but I always fill with 93.
I feel like I even said in the video that this would upset some people. To a certain extent understandable. If I owned the car I’d likely be running 93 constantly, but the reality of the press cars is that they’re run at the minimum octane level required most of the time. If anything this provides us with a valuable metric for next time we roadtrip an Si! We can compare regular vs premium and see the difference. The car felt fine on 87. Didn’t blow up. All is ok, I promise. But if you own an Si, you can put whatever kind of fuel in it you’d like :)
@@TopherDrives 36 MPG on 87 at $3.199 is 19.2% cheaper than 40 MPG on 93 at $4.399. I was interested in the fuel economy on 87, thanks for testing it.
My solution to the overzealous adaptive cruise - just switch it to traditional cruise control and voila, problem solved! Just hold down the main cruise control button and it’ll switch from adaptive to traditional cruise control. Learning that little hack changed my life because the adaptive cruise control was so annoying.
I grew up in Valparaiso, you've probably driven past it a few times. When I got my driver's license in June 1970 one of the first things I did was drive my dad's Datsun 510 to Michigan City just because I had never been there before. I bought a Civic Touring Hybrid back in August and though people compare it to the Si no, it's not the same at all. No manual, no sound and subsequently less thrill but at least it doesn't ride like a floor jack. ha,ha just joking.
I have a ‘24 Sport and previously had a 10th gen Sport Touring and I totally agree about the Civic driving aids. I wish the cruise allowed for closer following and that the lane keeping let you go hands free for a little longer than what it does. I find myself having to constantly override the cruise to pass and get into free air before letting it do its thing again.
@@TopherDrivesCan the distance between cars be adjusted to a certain extent letting you choose how close or far you want to be between cars before the car allows itself to brake and you push in the clutch pedal?
Beautiful car. My friend drove his 2024 SI across the country. Fun to drive and great MPGs. His only gripe was it didnt feel as planted and secure (doesnt feel as solid) on 5 lane freeways next to big suvs and trucks going 80mph.
honestly if it werent for the safety features these cars deserve to be 10k less. They did a great job making them pretty, and the interiors functional and pleasing to use but comfort wise and performance wise these things are a joke, as 3k rpm on the freeway in 2024 is laughable. could be pulling 50mpg easy.... but they too busy diluting their own market already with the hybrid to pay anyone money to have some forethought with their gearing for once.
The RPMs don't affect the fuel economy as much as you think, remember the cvt cars get nearly the same fuel economy. Not to mention my 2013 si gets 32.5 mpg sitting at nearly 4k rpm going 80, the gearing on this car is longer than they have done. Of course this is likely for the benefit of fuel economy, but Honda engines are happier at higher rpms anyway, even if this 1.5t sounds like a generator lol. Also, with inflation in the last 10 years, this car is about as much as my si cost new in 2013, which was 21k.
37:15 my first car that I bought when i was 23 was the 2018 Honda Civic EX-T Coupe! I LOVED the car. the handling everything. absolutely a dream! I had it for 2.5 years until baseball sized hail took it away from me. :c but I have always thought Honda Civics were cool and amazing. My Co-workers at the time (construction) all thought I was really lame for buying a civic instead of a truck or some V8 Mustang/Camero. but yeah that Civic was a dream haha. very small though. esp now that Ive driven one, I know how nice they drive and handle compared to Nissans and even my Ford Mustang that I have now. My next car may be another mustang (v8 or whatever they decide to make in the future) or another Honda Civic/Accord.
I was lucky enough to get the first 2022 when it came out. Very fortunate to get it in white. There's a very large spectrum of cars. The new honda civic S I Is it a affordable car That is way too much fun to drive.!!!
I have the Integra equivalent of this car (with the 6MT), and I've road tripped it a few times already. The fuel economy really makes this and the Si shine, on top of the great storage space. My only real issue with the car is the infotainment is slow and buggy. I hope I'll be able to upgrade it with the infotainment systems from the newer model years.
For the next gen vehicle, Honda can NOT be skimping out on the red for the door panels or the backseats for the 12th gen Civic Si. It needs to be cohesive and carried over to make it stand out and look the part. No more of this 1 map pocket for the bucket seats. Both seats should have map pockets in the back. The Hyundai Elantra N, while it too doesn't have rear seat air vents, at least it gives you USB charging connectivity. It's time to make those Si bucket seats leather or at least leatherette with cooled seat functionality and an adjustable headrest. I don't care if the seats stay manual adjusting, but heated seats only in the sunbelt states Florida to California and over water in Hawaii is useless and unnecessary. I'd happily take the addition of cooled seats if the Si sport bucket seats get a redesign and leather material to make it happen.
@sayurasem That's right. Although, I don't have an Si yet, but I think I am sold one getting one and I think I'll get the final model year next year, I am someone living in Florida that would love cooled seats.
I 10/10 recommend it. I picked mine up on November 5th and absolutely love it. 35mpg on average and 40 on the highway. Sport mode makes it a completely different car
So am I. I'm going to wait for the final model year since the 2026MY would technically make it the Civic Si its 40th anniversary by the car's model year. Whether Honda decides to do something truly special as a send-off for the 11th gen Civic Si or not is yet to be determined by Honda themselves. If it's nothing spectacular, at least give us a 1 model year color to close the 11th gen with Boost Blue from the FK8 Civic Type R and FL5 Civic Type R for the 2026MY Civic Si 40th Anniversary Special Edition Car and if only if this is going to be the last time for the 1.5T engine before the next gen (12th gen) Civic Si, I would like Honda to crank up the boost, horsepower, and torque on the car the way it should've been. At least 20-25hp and 28-33lb-ft of tq just for good measure. If they don't, it isn't that big of a deal and not a deal killer to me. I'll still get one just to get out of my 2017 Chevrolet SS Sedan because my car has turned into a money pit and is no longer sustainable for me. I have had my time and fun with it, but it's gotten problematic putting in parts after parts and it's like Chevrolet techs don't ever know what's wrong with a bone stock car these days. I'm tired of naturally aspirated V8s. I want to try some forced induction turbocharged 4-cylinder fun for a change.
I drive my 2023 civic si fulltime for uber I average 38mpg And i drive it 8-10 hours a day For long driving i reccomend seat cushion and lumbar cushion support Other then that its a perfect fun car, no complaints
Hey, just wanna say I love the videos! I am looking to get a new car and I really miss having my 2019 Si, so I have been looking into this new Si. In the videos of this Si, the road noise does seem pretty loud, is it that loud in person, or is the mic just picking up extra road and wind noise?
34:30 I never use adaptive cruise control. I always use standard cruise control for the very reason you stated. Honestly, I don’t know why people seem to love the adaptive CC at all. It’s very annoying on every car I’ve ever driven with it. Turn off adaptive and just use regular cruise. Thank me later. Nice video.

I previously owned an '18 SI I bought new that I treated very well, always did oil changes early, mostly drove highway miles, and the engine developed SEVERE gas dilution around 77k and Honda refused to help fix the problem. My brother-in-law also had a new '17 SI that blew the engine at 62k (fortunately for him Honda covered 90% of the cost of replacing the engine). Stay away the Honda 1.5T!!!!
@rohan_3128 Yep. I always went to QT and got 91 octane, which is the highest octane we get in Phoenix. It sucks because I really loved my SI before the oil/gas dilution issue.
@@chrish8487 oh okay, here in Europe buying is 1.5 Civic is quite costly that's why 1.0 3 cylinder is which gets sold, and I always found it interesting why in USA the 95 isn't the norm like it's in other countries, it's costly but it's worth the money.
Ive had a 7th(arguably the worst) gen and still have an 8th and a 9th gen that are project cars/Sunday drivers. I've looked at these and have found a few but the dealers refuse to be reasonable. I'm not paying a market addendum.
Same bro. I've contacted 2 dealerships and one of them told me they aren't running any special deals bc it's a "limited production car" Since when has the Si been limited? It's just a civic FFS
20:10 the road noise is precisely the reason I shy away from most Honda models. It's STILL a $30K+ car, and please, stop with the weight savings BS. Add a few more lbs/ft of torque, no one will notice the extra 2lbs of sound deadening then.
Not to be annoying but you keep saying a "$30,000 sport compact" but as far as I am aware nobody is getting dealers to give a price like that (I tried multiple times myself) and the best you can get, the very best is like $33,800 so closer to $34,000. Wish there was some kind of rebate or incentive on these things.
To be honest, it’s not good put the 87 on the si because the car gonna run horrible it’s good to put the 91 or the 93 on the SI. I have a 2023 SI. It’s just better to fork over the extra money to put the better gas on that car. Because you want that turbo to run smooth. And you can really tell the difference if you put the better gas in the SI.
Anyone turn off their blindspot monitor? It’s very aggressive and borderline annoying. Blindspot indicator lights on then side mirrors blinks super fast and beeps repetitively even though I am clear to switch lane (blinker on).
my exs brother own one of these before he crashed it and bought an audi. incredibly nice car, but for the price i think you could do better with an integra.
Me too. Ever since Audi came out with their Nardo Gray, every automaker thinks gray is a cool color. It's just a boring neutral color like white and black. I like bright colors. I like to stand out. I like to be loud with my color choice and noticed.

I drive my 2023 civic si fulltime for uber
I average 38mpg
And i drive it 8-10 hours a day
For long driving i reccomend seat cushion and lumbar cushion support
Other then that its a perfect fun car, no complaints
was just binge watching one of your road trip videos thank you for this
Was watching your videos on the SI yesterday since I started working for Honda and wanted to get some perspective as opposed to a BRZ
The best car that it´s not so expensive, the Civic
Yall shared a box combo!? Haha I would’ve definitely done the caniac for 2 people😅
Love this type of videos
for manuals i think you should get a foot cam
28:31 TWENTY ONE PILOTS??
Nice video.
Any bother from your right knee contact the console edge while driving?
I watch you from Turkiye greetings :) i've wished to live in the USA
Don’t believe what a lot of the losers say. It’s a great place to live.
@@Localtraveler2376 yes yes if you work you earn money and if you dont work you dont earn my bro. I work as Engineer my biggest dream is living in the USA
@ I hope you get here if you want it. Unfortunately the waiting list is a few years now but regardless of what you read legal immigration is still the norm here. I’m a school teacher so you’ll be able to earn more than me most likely! It’s a big place with varied climates so do plenty of research of where you want to live.
@@Localtraveler2376 thank you sir, I applied DV Green card Lottery. Moreover, If i can find suitable job for me with sponsorship i apply them
@@Localtraveler2376 my migration reason is not only USA has good economy but also judgement. Where i live Turkiye there is no like this thing unfortunately It doesn't work properly the way it should work
You should road trip rest the refreshed 2025 GLI and see how it compares
No grab handle on the inside of the trunk door is baffling to me. The improvement in user experience you'd get from adding one is off the freaking chart in terms of cost-value
Did you always put high quality fuel?
@rohan_3128 Yep. I always went to QT and got 91 octane, which is the highest octane we get in Phoenix. It sucks because I really loved my SI before the oil/gas dilution issue.
@@chrish8487 oh okay, here in Europe buying is 1.5 Civic is quite costly that's why 1.0 3 cylinder is which gets sold, and I always found it interesting why in USA the 95 isn't the norm like it's in other countries, it's costly but it's worth the money.
Record the 2025 Honda CR-V touring hybrid, please.
what is it with genz and chicken strips? lol GREAT video!
I do really like this car
In my country indonesia, the front seat is different and use automatic transmission and i hate it. I love the manual version of yours.
Ive had a 7th(arguably the worst) gen and still have an 8th and a 9th gen that are project cars/Sunday drivers. I've looked at these and have found a few but the dealers refuse to be reasonable. I'm not paying a market addendum.
Same bro. I've contacted 2 dealerships and one of them told me they aren't running any special deals bc it's a "limited production car"
Since when has the Si been limited? It's just a civic FFS
Sometimes y'all have to go out of state for the car that you want.
Chase Atlantic is awesome. Oh Mami is a legit banger. How was the show?
Goodbye to the Savage Geese 🤣
I wonder when Honda will ever solve their problem of road noise from the front tires. Otherwise, I think Hondas are perfect.
Man I wish they would swap the SI from sedan to hatchback, seems like a great daily driver though!
Does the 2025 have remote start?
how would you compare the suspension with the CTR suspension?
In Canada our Si has a handle to close the trunk weird
I know one of the main competitors to this car is the Kia forte gt. Which one would you pick?
Not the kia
Civic Si
@ak2112 idk seeing how bouncy the ride is in this video is turning me off. Plus the seats don't seem too comfortable for longer drives.
@@porfiriato84Forte GT feels like an upgrade to the regular Forte.
Si feels like a infant Type R. Note* this is my opinion after test driving both.
@fearxgods1474 so what you're saying is that both are good options
You’re Tripin
This is so real
Compared to the type r?
Slower, cheaper
20:10 the road noise is precisely the reason I shy away from most Honda models. It's STILL a $30K+ car, and please, stop with the weight savings BS. Add a few more lbs/ft of torque, no one will notice the extra 2lbs of sound deadening then.
Great now im craving canes at 10pm
Let’s go your using NCS!
In Canada, this is priced more than the WRX . Does not make sense to buy in Canada
Taxes my guy. Taxes.
Yup, with taxes and 60mo. interest, its close to 45k
You cut me off in this car on your way to Chicago. I am extremely upset, Topher.
29:30 big Altima energy, stereotypes of altima drivers always persist
review the hyundai santa fe hybrid!
Blindspot indicator lights on then side mirrors blinks super fast and beeps repetitively even though I am clear to switch lane (blinker on).
honestly love this car but not the $600 a month tag on it lol
my exs brother own one of these before he crashed it and bought an audi. incredibly nice car, but for the price i think you could do better with an integra.
Using Octane 87 is going to mess up the engine in the long run. It's a turbo so premium fuel (not racing) is the best.
Im glad to hear that im not the only person tired of this gray color plastered on every new car
Me too. Ever since Audi came out with their Nardo Gray, every automaker thinks gray is a cool color. It's just a boring neutral color like white and black.
I like bright colors. I like to stand out. I like to be loud with my color choice and noticed.
