Took my wife last weekend. After a 2 hr drive we roll up to St Marys. Shes looking at me like seriously a church ? When I opened the door and she stepped in it literally took her breath away. Thanks so much for the videos.
Interesting seeing cultural influences in those churches as Czech and who study central European medieval history you can spot that German churches have very high Gothic ornaments of 14/15th century inside like the leaf's and Plants you can see around Walls. while the Czech churches have very Hussite influence reassembling for example more plain but straight symbolism of Bohemian gothic style of 15th century for example like in Prague Bethlehem church. Even when it was long fater medieval times you can see a cultural influence over those building when the settler's came.
As a small child, I spent many Sunday's getting a little ride on the bell rope at St. Mary's in High Hill. Another beautiful painted church is St. Mary's just a little north of Ellinger.
Really enjoyed seeing the inside of the churches I have been aching to see for years. I have heard they are especially beautiful at Christmas time. Like the wing like spars acting as support for the roof of the Stanzel Museum.
Beautiful. If you've not considered it already, there's a catholic church in Lindsay, Tx that I think rivals all these you've shown. It's off hwy 82, a bit west of Gainesville. Well worth the journey.
I visited these a couple days ago. My favorite was the Praha location. All are simply beautiful and cannot be fully appreciated unless seen in person. I was amazed at the detail and complexity of each.
Hi Pamela Good morning. I hope my comment didn't sound as a form of privacy invasion your comment tells of a wonderful woman with a beautiful heart which led me to comment I don't normally write in the comment section but I think you deserve this complement. If you don’t mind can we be friends? Thanks God bless you….🌺🌺🌺
That’s awesome! I went to see them but didn’t get a chance to see Praha. My 3rd Great Grandfather Fred Donecker painted a few of them. The pink church definitely. Next time I go I’ll definitely got to see Praha
There are actually 28 registered Painted Churches all around Texas. The oldest Painted Church is in Wesley. Just outside of Brenhem. Only used for special occasions now. I’m working on photographing them all. Just 10 more to go
@@johnl.bengfort8245 from the historic records. Took some researching. But I have two different lists. Most are duplicated. Both have ones the other doesn’t
@@johnl.bengfort8245 mason didn’t know they had a painted church until recent, but I had it on my lists. It had been covered for years until water damage on the ceiling. When they removed it they found a painted ceiling. It’s available to see now. A painted Church isn’t necessarily painted on walls and ceilings. Has to do with their Paintings inside the Church. Like the one in Fayetteville
Oops. project. The comments on Lindsay, Texas are correct. Some consider St. Peter’s there to be the queen-maybe king. I would love to have your list of 2&. Our last trip was to Olfen in Runnels county where the church is open and active-missed the one nearby in Rowena
That is my experience, but often the congregations are small and/or priests few in number such that mass is not regularly done. There is one at Dotsons Prairie near Strawn, Texas where a dozen or fewer parishioners meet Wednesdays for rosary. Only the church in Strawn now gets a priest.
Thanks for bringing these fine churches to our attention. You do a great service to the state of Texas.
Thanks for the kind words Don
💒 my LORD and my GOD dwells on these and every Catholic Church around the world 🌎 Thanks a lot for sharing ALL your AWESOME videos📹👍

That's funny. It looks rather ordinary from the outside, but when you go inside, Wow!

The paradise must look like Texas. Thank you for the fantastic videos.

They are even more impressive in person with all the delicate details in the art, especially the ones in High Hill and Praha.
I loved the video tour to the churches thanks!!!

I agree with you. That is the “cradle” of my family-German farmers. A vibrant community with a large active church population. And well kept.
Beautifully done, I very much enjoyed the pace of the video that matches the pace of rural Texas. Thank you!
Thanks for the great compliment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

We stayed at the Thousand Trails near there and we toured the churches. They are truly amazing. It was one of the highlights of our trip to the area.
Awesome spectacular thanks! God Bless you for doing this! Thanks 🙏🏻

Going to a wedding in Ammansville Saturday. I'm from around that area.
Wow that's cool. What a great place to get married.
Great grandpa, Godfrey Flury, painted the one in Praha.

@@tracybrown512 Tracy, thank you for responding. I am going thru my “bucket” at 80 and the painted churches are my current

You missed Saint Stanislaus church in Bandera, Another gem
Are any of them still active/used for services?
It's my understanding that all of these churches are still active.
