Because I always thought that superhuman was my favorite kpop song ever, and maybe one of my favorite in all music genres, but I thought it was just personal opinion. Now He said that Superhuman, I’m so sad the song didn’t get the success it deserved (partly because of boycotting) because damn this song is good

Omg korean fans can be so conservative sometimes... Nct's concept is literally to promote globally around the world, as an european sm stan I was thrilled to witness an sm group doing an actual world tour including russia and europe for the first time in kpop history. The superhuman ep and neo city tour was the greatest gift sm has ever given their international fans, and I loved every second of it.

Superhuman actually got me curious about the Kpop world, then Shinee got me hooked, then EXO got me to stay. Tempo is def one of my faves. Such a great interview. Hearing him talk about Jonghyun made me tear up a bit. You could definitely tell that he was born to be a star and had such a commanding presence. I’m sad I didn’t know about him when he was still alive.
Superhuman is criminally underrated. Superhuman and tempo is 2 of best kpop song I've ever heard and this guy wrote those songs. Respect sir, please write more dope songs in the future!

The concept and music make them arguably as distinctively unique as the legendary beatles, queen, and frank sinatra to name a few...

I notice a lot of exols pay attention to who’s working on Exo songs and we appreciate all the artists and writers that give us the wonderful songs that made us fall for Exo. I’m very much looking forward to your work with ldn noise and tay jasper I’m fan of all your works
N K exols always check the people working behind exo who are making the magic happen tbh. Exo’s vocals are amazing but they are shone through the best possible way because of these producers so we are always thankful. Im no musician but when I receive my albums i always look at song credits. Most interesting particularly for me is the background vocals.

This kind of makes me pity army's because I have seen thousands of army's take pride in that BTS produces their own music. While that is a very commendable skill, it doesn't mean you should close your doors to producers from other sources. I have seen them attack producers that have wanted to work with BTS because they are very strict about this "self-produced group" concept. It's sad to see because there's only so much the same people can do. Accepting music from different perspectives allows your music to grow and become more dynamic, this is why I love that EXO can do both. So many of their songs have been created by other producers who have a strong passion for music, and those people deserve to be recognized.

Melanie Fontana, she co-wrote bwl, but the lyrics didn't really soothe the song very well, so Namjoon had to rewrite the entire song, leaving only the oh my my my, as the only part she wrote. But then claimed she wrote the entire song, and tried to take all the credit and said that it’s her song, also she was selling a framed photo of her with bts

I fell in love with Kpop was due to Jonghyun and then I fell in love with SHINee. So when Adrian spoke about Taemin and then Jonghyun just warmth my heart. The guy wrote bops seriously I'm just so grateful for his works. Thank you Adrian and Umu, your content is so great!

bro when he talks about working with jonghyun, i would have given ANYTHING to be in that room and experience them just bouncing ideas off of each other without really speaking each other’s language. that part literally gave me chills, just imagine how colorful that room must have been. idk how to describe it but just the atmosphere of that room must’ve been incredible

When I first heard superhuman it sounded like a SHINee song and this confirms it was probably written with them in mind

There was an article before that listed down 7 idols who were "born to make music," and Jjong was included on it. With all of the accounts told by people who have worked with him, I am now more inclined than ever to agree with that assessment. I teared up hearing about jonghyuns creativity in the studio and his inspiration from prince. They both were true musical gems sent to earth and I'm thankful for them blessing us for an eternity with their work

at the end of the day kpop isn't just an entertainment industry, it's a whole project of art where many many people having various specialties come together and work hard to make the best possible final outcome. this interview made me appreciate this even more than i already did. just wish people outside of this community would keep that in mind. not saying they should by all means, having general respect is just enough,, but for me loving kpop is such a beautiful and rewarding experience and i'm so glad it came into my life. thank you for your amazing and insightful work Umu!! Didn't know he also wrote Moon with Jonghyun. I love that song specially the talk to me baby part. So good. Loved listening to how Tempo's acapella part came to be. When I first heard the song it was so unexpected and just magical. It really is one of my favorite EXO songs and that's saying something.

thank you so much for asking about jjong! he said years ago that the songwriters weren’t supposed to work directly with the artists but jjong heard they were there and found them. I guess that’s why there was no translator to help them work together 😁 These songwriter interviews are so important to me and I think they deserve more credit. I love your content, keep up the good work!

The info about the the creation of Moon was so fascinating, it really gives a whole new dimension to that song and who Jjong was as a writer, which is not a side we'd ever really get to see into
YES when he said they used Prince as inspiration for Moon I was like "OFC THEY DID". When Moon was released I hadn't listened a lot to Prince, but now that I've educated myself on his music, I can see the influence he had on jjong is so obvious, and so beautiful!

We all know superhuman was for shinee. When they performed it for the first time on their tour, the shawol in me perked up at that song. It had the shinee vibe from day one and every shawol felt it haha. Nevertheless, They executed it extremely well.

You could really say that SMEnt started KPop and is still at the forefront with all the innovations in their creative process. Like, they're not afraid to experiment and get help from many sources outside of Korea.

"Superhuman was underrated." I hate to hear that because Superhuman was the reason I decided to go to the NCT 127 concert last summer. I was going back and forth on it because it was an expensive trip but when I saw the preview of the GMA Superhuman performance I knew I had to see it performed live.
I knew 'Moon' had to be inspired by Prince! That is one of my favorite Jonghyun songs!!!
This interview was so interesting, I love to hear about the process of making these songs. Adrian really is a genius! And I agree Superhuman really is underrated, it's such a good song. It kind of gives me SHINee vibes, so I wonder if it was for them before it went to NCT.
Superhuman is undoubtedly one of the best pop, not even just kpop songs, of this generation. Hands down. It’s one of those pieces that we’ll look back on years from now and wonder why it never received the praise it deserved.

NCT did with Superhuman what Backstreet Boys did with Larger Than Life in 1999 and it was so exciting to hear that kind of pop again. So they created Tempo a few years before it's release & SM specifically requested Adrian to make the acapella section Bohemian Rhapsody like? I guess Tempo is really the Bohemian Rhapsody of kpop!
I love how he was in awe with kpop because of Taemin! And it's wonderful to hear his experience writing songs with Jonghyun & Amber! Also the way he praises Chen, D.O., Baekhyun, EXO in general & Luna's vocals (his descriptions are on point!)
In my opinion, Superhuman was underrated possibly because some of the kfans' boycott (similar like Jopping) & the hype wasn't as much coz NCT 127 performed the song a few times for a while before the official MV & album release (I might be wrong). But yeah, the song deserves more appreciation especially for the last 1 minute of the song (my fav part)! Can't wait for their comeback!

Great interview. Nice to know the people behind the legendary groups and their music. SHINEE catch my attention to Kpop but EXO made me stay. I want to tell this writers, composers, whatever they are called, that they create great music enough to make someone who is on her 50s listen to it. Words about Jonghyun made me teary eyed, i miss him. It is great to see the man behind EXO's music and hope to see more projects with them.
I don't know how proud I was as a 13 year blinger when Adrian mentioned Jonghyun so sweetly. We all know how serious Jjong can be when it comes to his music, I'm not surprised at all he was at the helm. It was such a warm feeling when Adrian described that Jjong reeked of stardom but at the same time he was shy, made subtle movements. Isn't that what we all love about Jjong 💛 thank you Umu and Adrian for such a great sharing video! ✨

I am so humbled by and have so much respect for Adrian and all the other amazingly talented artists who've written these songs--to just create such great music. I'm really blown away. Hearing him speak so fondly of working together with Jonghyun really warmed my heart. I've been a die-hard Shawol for many years, but more recently, I've found myself addicted to the catchy EXO, F(x), and NCT songs. Now I know why! Thank you for doing what you love, sir.
