I watched another interview wherein his band mate discussed his hostility towards women as well as his approach to leading a band. He also said he couldn't take direction which is why he became a bandleader. It sounds as if she challenged him, which he resisted. It makes me wonder how they each defined love. I think she deserved to experience a true, healthy and evolved relationship in all the years she walked this Earth

this little brown girl snuck and stayed up all 2 or 3 hours to watch it as my parents slept. i never saw any true performance until that moment. i was 7 and will never forget it. At the time I thought Miss Jane Pittman was a real person.

I first saw her in _The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman_ back in 1974 where her character is shown from ages 23 to 110.

As I potter around putting together my own memoir Cicely Tyson holds me. Every film she worked in was a priority for me. I respected her, I expected to be her, I though she spoke for me as a black woman from the 70’s onwards.
