That’s our favorite restaurant!! My husband is Nicaraguan and I fell in love with the food!!!
Fritanga street food
I LOVE nacatamales (Nicaragüense tamales) & arroz a la valenciana (paella style rice).
If you like rum, Flor de Caña is the way to go. 🇳🇮
My dad was introducing a 70 year old Kiwi friend of his to Vigoron and he ended up loving it but on his third bite he chipped his front tooth lol poor guy had a family reunion the next day!
Also those aren’t plantains in the Vigoron it’s actually yucca root
As a Nicaraguan, I appreciate this video.

No many people know that the famous ''Tres Leches'' dessert came from Nicaragua and I had that argument with some Cubans and Mexicans but that dessert was introduced (in the US) in the 1940s by the Nicaraguan Restaurant Chain ''Los Ranchos'' in Miami! Excellent video!
Thanks for the tip. Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
I concur with that. I used to know the original owner of Los Ranchos down in Miami and that’s the original place where it was created. Cubans love to say that this dessert is theirs, but it’s not.
The 1940’s ? I don’t think their were any Nicaraguans in the 40’s lmaooo
In Miami a lot of Central Americans came in the 20s 30s 40s but mostly for migrant work
Great job with the video, Nicaraguan food is amazing and I’m happy to see my country’s food represented. Small correction, the vigoron uses yucca/cassava root, instead of plantain :) if you ever have the chance, definitely recommend nacatamal.
Thanks for the tips! Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
Guys he said taste like potatoes.
Fritanga is our favourite! We've been having it every week while we've been living in Nicaragua. We haven't seen prawns offered before and usually there's just one meat per dish from what we've seen.
Sounds great! Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
Man , I almost cried of joy , that food is delicious

Thanks for sharing , Nicaraguan food is really good there’s a lot of spots out in Miami Florida little Managua

I love Yambo in Little Havana, great place. It's been a few years since I was in Miami, but I'll be going to Yambo for sure when I get back to Miami
The Vigoron is made with steamed YUCA not plantains. Just clarifying for anyone interested in trying Vigoron. :) he got confused with the name but he was actually eating yuca.
Thanks for the info. Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
Lol my NICA ears were like “did he just say plantanos in a vigoron?”
My mom and dad are from Nicaragua so I eat a lot of Nicaragua food.

Yes, Rockstar, another one that I know. Spent a week in Costa Rica taking a day trip into Nicaragua. Visiting Granada City the many towns and lively markets there about. This is exactly the food I remember it was all so good. Even rice dishes that most often here is the states just fill the plate. You are so lucky to have Portobanco's I can see it's really rocken, authentic, quality.
Yes indeed. I heard Costa Rican food was quite similar to Nicaraguan. I hope you'll be able to eat it again soon!
@@RockstarEater just some food are similar between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. For example Gallo Pinto which is an influence from Guanacaste (a Costa Ricas' province close to Nicaragua). But Costa Rican gastronomy has dishes like Chifrijo or Chiliguaro which are relatively new and influenced by San José's nightlife and the historic spanish heritage. Or the caribbean cuisine from Costa Rica which is influenced by Jamaican culture due to jamaican inmigrants who helped building the railroad 200 years ago. They gave to Costa Ricas gastronomy dishes like Patty or Rice and Beans (which is a variant of Gallo Pinto with coconut milk).
Both foods are great tho. And great videos too! Cheers!!
Saludes hermanos Centroamericamos.
Linda NICARAGUA

Never tried Nicaraguan food before, this is so new to us. All of those grills are so good, seems a bit like Brazilian food.
It's similar to Costa Rican food. Not sure if you've had that.
Nicaraguan'a and Brazilians do have a lot of similarities. Nicaraguans' even have a festival like "carnival"
@@RockstarEater nicaraguan food is diferent
Actually costarican food maybe looks similar to the Nicaraguan food just in some dishes and that is because of the immigration, every country has their own culture and originally, but a lot of Nicaraguan people lives there. by the way all food in America's continent has similarly based wich is the corn. But vigoron, nacatamal, quesillo, baho, gallopinto and more dishes are just from Nicaragua.
@Eric Sirias im not going to star a discussion with you lol every country in latin America has similar dishes, you just have to travel and you see it :) but gallopinto in costa rica never is the same as Nicaraguan, its not personal don't take it bad :) what i wanted to say is that in costa rica you can find Nicaraguan food typical dishes and a foreign doesn't know . Chifrijo for example is something very special and unique that you just find in Costa Rica. Gallopinto you find in differents country's in latin America and every country has the way to cook it. In my personal opinion Nicaraguan gallopinto is the best and the Cuban is very good too. 👌But Costa rica its amazing no doubt about it.
Great connection with our food and Great content on your videos!!

The vigorón has Yuca root not plantains lol
Got it. Thanks. Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
"Tostones" is not a Nicaraguan typical dish. It has been introduced for tourists really. Non the less, Nicaraguan cook the best. And the vigoron has boiled yuca (casaba), not steamed plantains.
Thanks for sharing! Please continue to follow my channel to see other great food videos this year!
Have you been to Nicaragua? Tostones are practically served with every meal at Nicaraguan restaurants. Tostones are typical not only to Nicaragua but most of the Caribbean and Central American countries.
The Vigoron had steamed yucca, not plantains. 🤙🏽

By the way we Don't eat Telapia we eat Red Snapper, maybe the restaurant you went Don't buy it because it can be pricey but in Nicaragua that is the fish we eat!
Interesting. Thanks.
Baho its not eaten with rise or anything else than the salad lol.
Mu friend is called Vigoron not Vigaron. Also there is Yuca in it not plantain. I suggest to ask the waiter what is in it so you can describe the correct ingredients.

A fritanga dish does not have shrimp at all, and the baho isn't served with rice at side.
