At the 92nd Running of the Race to the Clouds, Ken Gushi and his Scion FR-S challenged the Time Attack 1 Class, made up of Porsches, STI's, and Evo's. With very little practice due to engine problems, he goes all-out and drifts many of the corners on his way to the top.

Gotta give extra respect to the people who drifted Pike’s Peak before they paved it and added guardrails.
Pikes peak always has been fucking sketchy... Not sure if I'd ever try it or not. Those drop offs go farther down then it looks on here

Exactly, which is why they don't run when it's icy. With more rail I'd consider because the false sense of security haha
Ian Irizarry Frankly, having lived in the mountains and learning to drive and drift, and rally in the general area. A lot of Colorado has the huge drops with no guardrail. some places 200+ feet, it is just something you forget. It is just a fun place to drive...9.8/10 would drive again.
Sure you can try the dive drift thing but in Japan there's more banking on the mountain roads that its better for, along with miles of guardrails. And the fact that their roads are a lot smoother compared to the US with all the imperfections and cracks/potholes etc. which makes Japan roads look like a race track and ours here look like gravel paths
I would drive Japan mountains all day before ever considering one run on pikes

+GearHeadDave ya also right after 0:45 they stated an engine problem and had to ship out a engine over maybe they couldn't find another 2jz in time so used an old fa20? idk but in 0:45 that is forsure a fa20. i know almost everyone with an frs has a 2jz swap but in this videos it was a boxer i am positive.
