ravager48 I'm glad I looked him up before correcting you. I thought the talk to the dead thing was part of his skills when I watched it, but regardless I thought it was badass either way.
ravager48 Yeah, they were overdoing it. Just a simple western story would have been fine, where Jonah goes after Jon Malkovich and his cronies and that's it. No action-hooker Megan Fox, no magic dragonballs that can blow up Washington or whatever. None of that crap. A shootout on a street at high noon, maybe saving a few hostages. It's a revenge story, make it personal. If they had the talent to write, direct and film it well, it could have been a cult classic. Just look at Dredd 3D. Small scale, nothing "epic" yet still a memorable, well-made film with unique ideas.
FINALLY!!!!! I've been waiting a very, very, very, very long time for this character to get an Origin story on this channel. He has to be one of the best DC Comics characters that very few people have heard about.
They forgot to mention that Jonah Hex is resourceful enough to defeat both Batman and Superman. Just goes to show that you don't need super powers and fancy gadgets to be awesome.
Fun Fact: the Johan Hex's corpse was dissected and used as a dummy for a fair, but even that is someone to be feared. The guns that he was carrying still had bullets and finished shooting when some bandits tried to steal it, killing them. Later, in the future of The Kingdom Come, his body appears in the exhibition of the restaurant Planet Krypton . Their weapons are used by the son of Batman to face a crazy time traveler. True story.

Thank you. Validation, FINALLY! Jonah Hex is my favorite comic book hero. My favorite line- "Don't move! Or your going be smelling from the back of your head.
I remember the many Jonah Hex comics my brother and I had back in the early 80s. I still have many images of those cartoons come to my mind in certain situations. Sgt. Rock for my war fix and Jonah Hex for my western fix. :)
If you haven't looked into it yet. Search out the 70 issue run (or collections) of Jonah Hex and 35 issue run of All-Star Western written by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti. It's not only the best run of the character, but one of the best runs of any comic, and I'd say THE best comic in the western genre. All-Star Western isn't quite as good, as they went from more of an anthology format to a straight forward continuing continuity, which takes away from the freedom single issue stories offered, but it was still a great series that brought their run to a fitting end. But at the very least, you MUST read the 70 issues of Jonah Hex.
And we learned more about the Bounty Hunter in the more recent comics to be more specific the current Young Justice comics. Basically one of the team-members of Tim Drake's new Young Justice team is Jinny Hex Jonah's great-great granddaughter from an alternate timeline and despite being somewhat friendlier then Jonah himself she's just as badass as Jonah and isn't afraid to let a bad-guy know underestimating her is a bad idea, and it was revealed that the trunk/chest she always carries with her is a family heirloom filled to the brim with various alien weaponry/gadgets, and various other inhuman weapons/gadgets Jonah has collected during his many adventures. And Jinny's skill set is the same as her famous great-great granddad basically she's a master tracker, a decent hand-2-hand fighter, a master knife fighter, a master tomahawk fighter, and a master sharpshooter with all types of firearms though she mostly uses revolvers, and rifles. And yes I'm hoping to see her in action as a member of the Young Justice team in the upcoming 4th season of the Young Justice cartoon.
You guys really need to do origin videos for the 2nd Flash Barry Allen, 3rd flash Wally West along with the 2nd Green Lantern Hal Jordan and the 3rd John Stewart, all 4 are most definitely worthy of origin videos from you guys 👌👍
I just re-watched this movie this morning and it was better than I remembered. I think the movie came out a bit too early. With how popular the Red Dead games have been since the release of Jonax Hex in 2010, had this movie waited about 7 years, it may have been far more popular. I'd like to see more pre-civil war fantasy/crime style movies. Not necessarily Cowboys & Aliens, but perhaps I ought to give that one another view, too.
Vol 2 of Jonah Hex didn’t change the origin of his scar. He did have some damage to his face from the whipping but the massive scarring was still caused by the heated tomahawk.
Jonah Hex is the ultimate badass. Read the comic as a kid decades ago. He did actually shopw up in a couple of episodes of "Legends of tomorrow". The movie was highly disapointing though.
I remember watching a documentary on history that has an extremely similar story to jonah hex origins story. Except, it was a gunslinger who worked alongside a tribe and was betrayed so became a hitman for the army. He had the best shooting and later broke free and went rogue. The man ended up killing the tribe he once belonged to and killed any cattle ranch stealers in the area he was living in a brutal fashion until he was caught and hung for his murderous ways. Its really annoying that i cant remember the name of the documentary but i know what happend
Fun fact: in the Blackest Night story arc Jonah Hex was one of the many deceased characters to receive a Black Lantern Power Ring. Combined with his already deadly skills the Black Lantern Ring made him an even more dangerous opponent. Later after the Blackest Night he was relaid to rest back in his grave.
I'm still a little pissed that they didn't talk about "Hex" at all in this. That series really boosted his popularity and I recently completed my collection of the first "Hex" story arc (issues 1-18).
Watch mojo thank you for making this people for to long had to think the movie is right finally people who haven't read the comic can finally learn his real origin

Cowboys will never be overrated. His DC showcase animated short was an awesome watch.
Cowboys, as in real cowboys, are underrated. The Dallas Cowboys, on the other hand, overrated as fuck XD
Can someone tell me how he was fighting batman if he part of the Wild West
Hes a time traveler as well, hes like an bounty hunter thru time
ca20mn he was such a good shot he shot through time
Wise words from a wise man👏🏿👏🏿
I would have loved a Jonah Hex skin for John Marston in Red Dead Redemption.

He's in legends of tomorrow...
not as a regular cast member, though, just as a once a season type thing.
I like Jonah Hex, he should have had a film staring Clint Eastwood back then, Clint has the face for him.
Actually, when you cover the scarred side of his face, he looks more like a young Robert Redford!
No Clint Eastwood is the man with no name
God, the movie shitted on this character. Josh Brolin as Hex was a perfect pick, but adding Megan Fox and giving him super powers just ruined it...
ravager48 I'm glad I looked him up before correcting you. I thought the talk to the dead thing was part of his skills when I watched it, but regardless I thought it was badass either way.

Lol that's funny
Why did I read this in a western accent
A girl named Jonah?
They forgot to mention that Jonah Hex is resourceful enough to defeat both Batman and Superman. Just goes to show that you don't need super powers and fancy gadgets to be awesome.
Yea all you need is a bullshit writer :-)
Hey, if Batman can beat Superman (sort of) I don't see why it's unrealistic for Hex to beat him.
Jaeger Newman he is more brutal and has more experience
Sir Science You mean Jonah Hex right?
Jaeger Newman yeh
Jonah Hex, and Sgt. Rock were staples of my comic book history 40 years ago.
Jonah Hex looks like a cowboy Two-Face.
Except Hex is a hero and two face is a villain
I actually thought it was two-face when I first saw him in Batman the animated series
If DC made a new version of hex it probably be a best seller
I never knew that Jonah Hex was a DC comic book character.
Kyle Thomas DC does more than just superhero stories.
I know
Two of my favorite DC characters are Jonah Hex and Enemy Ace. Both are grossly underappreciated in my opinion.
