Really enjoyed this episode! Love the longer format with customer chats. Super authentic and relaxing to watch/listen to in the background. Love Phil: "Just tell me a good story". While content style is subjective, I disagree that good is necessarily subjective. If you follow a formula and keep things relatively fast paced, develop characters that need development, don't needlessly create subplots that don't go anywhere and know who your audience is goes a fn really long way to telling a "good story".
DC War comics are the best,..those weird war issues are great,.. luv when you go thru stacks of comics…and letting your regulars look thru collections before pricing is great
Looking though your back vids and thinking about how I could get a copy of ASM #20 and your customer pulls out MT #158 - mind blown! Crazy coincidence of fate! Really enjoying your channel, thanks for all the videos.
Total agree about Batman. He works best as a street level vigilante/detective super hero. Plus you need some stories or moments that show he as a real person and feelings.
Gotta disagree with Phil in regards to the Joker: The man who stopped laughing. Maybe he has more patience than me, but to have a book take over 8 issues to really give you any information about what’s going on just doesn’t fly with me.
I would buy those weird War tales and McFarlanes from you right now. Please sell online! I’ve never seen a dog in a comic shop. That Glenn guy is nice!
I have to say the days of the one and done comic book stories or two part stories in the same title have unfortunately gone by the wayside. That’s what I miss the most from the time I started reading comics in the late 70’s. That’s why I will always be a huge Carl Barks and Don Rosa fan of the Disney Ducks and there one and done classic stories.
The ghost rider action figure dolly isn't worth 25$ yet. But definitely Glen should be doing more action figure dolly perusals. Just to make the market safe for action figure dolly collectors 😂
44:03 Glenn to Phil: _'Yup. If this camera wasn't here, you would have been kickin' that dog. Awful. Hams it up in front of the camera, but when the camera's off, that's when the bad stuff happens.'_
I always enjoy seeing Phil and hearing him talk comics, but why does he have to abuse his dog? 🤣🤣 I'm going to have to seek out that Ghost Rider toy! And we barely got any Corey in this episode? C'mon guys! 😂😂
"She" was invented by the same guy who created "Alan Quartermaine". Old adventure novels from the late 19th century that became popular pulps in the 40's and 50's. Source: Am nerd.
again I can't understand Phil "Dc used to write good stories in the 70s and 80s" what the fuck were you smoking back in those days? some of them were good but most of them eeesh and 90s DC with Batman and 2000s with all they did under Paul Levitz was amazing I love how he contradicts himself by looking at what he's getting saying they're all good stories.
I’m with Phil, but you’re not wrong. Some were a chore to read-formulaic, heavy on gimmick, no characterization to speak of. DCs writing got better in the 80s and more so after Crisis. But…. Those older comics are still my faves because I know who the characters are, they are their best versions of themselves, and they weren’t dark and depressing like later on. For me, I can enjoy post 1990 comics for individual stories, but I don’t care about them at the “universe” level. I don’t read them as history like I do the 1938-1986 era.
A Phil episode makes my week. Just tell me a damn good story !
I just discovered this channel. Loving the hell out of it! Wish the shop was within driving distance….
Just-write-me-a-good-story Phil is back! 🎉👍👍👍
Sgt rock and dc war comics were always the best

Loved reading Weird💀War when I was a kid…
Great episode... Yeah DC horror books like "Phantom Stranger" were good reads
I love those retro style action figures. Great for nostalgia.

AmII the only one that talks to the screen while watching? The Jonah Hex series in Gotham was called All-Star Western.
i really liked jonah hex the movie, great episode
All-Star Western is the New 52 series they are talking about.

Great episode! Did Felipe shoot this? It looks awesome!

Loved collecting those marvel tales books in the 80s
I like Phil. I think I'll get his autograph if I ever meet him.
Instead of Amazon butchering Lord the Rings they should have instead produced Rucka's Lazarus, that comic is pretty fitting for the times we live in.
“Should have” and “fitting for the times we live in” are a bit contradictory, when comparing it to a fantasy piece.
Thanks!
Phil should buy the Silver Age Superman Omnibus when it comes out in December
I had that issue of Spoof as a kid when it first came out.

great episode
OG Jason Todd had red hair because Gerry Conway liked redheads. When Conway left the book, they had Jason dye his hair.

That ghost rider figure is terrible
Jesus, John Cusack is looking worse than ever these days!
Saying marvel has “good writing” is cringe
And saying Dan Mora’s artwork just ok… hmmmm
