I love my AfterShokz, I was given a pair by a rep, titanium I believe, but eventually after years the speaker became loose, or just busted, then as I shoved them in my backpack, the stem broke off like yours! Bought a pair of Aeropex, and I believe the battery just started to malfunction, got my most recent pair with their two year guarantee. :D
I got the mail confirmation that they would not repair mine but send me a new one... Not gonna landfill my old one so i'm here because i'm gonna try anyway 😂
Sadly not, mine is the power button not working anymore (stays pressed forever when he feels like it), which I thought was caused by the front silicone becoming loose and had some shower water in... After opening (way easier than I thought!) and investigation; the solid plastic of the power button seem to have been broke for a few month (it was then harder to press) and, pressing harder for months caused a leak in the secondary silicone layer for the buttons ! The said button was oxidised like hell. I cleaned it up and now can get it on/off by making contact with a screwdriver I get my replacement monday, after that I'll order a couple of supplies and a new button, and unsolder the old :) The headset will not be as water resistant as before, but it makes me mad that they prefer to send free stuff instead of repairing... I can't stop thinking about the landfills full of repairables.
I had the same issue four months ago. Based on your video, I filed a claim explaining the issue, after few weeks they approved the replacement. I had to send the old ones back to them. Now four months after, same thing happened but on the other side. I'm filing a claim again, fingers crossed. I really like my headphones :(
I had my titanium band break in half and peeled back the silicone. Cut a ball pump needle in half and put the titanium pieces in each end and it’s fixed.
Mine broke after less than a year, in the same spot, but the design of mine looks different inside. There's no exposed titanium in the band, but rather a plastic end that is supposed to lock to two pins embedded in the end of the headphone section. The strange thing was that the plastic where the pins were embedded was completely crumbling away, as if there was something wrong with its composition. In any case Shockz was good about warrantying this pair.
Great work, patient explanations, and many valuable, contextual musings, thanks! I discovered precisely this failure on my aftershokxz (sp?) this morning; googled “aeropex repair”, found this in 1st or 2nd place, and am very happy. Thanks, too, for mentioning the two-year warranty: I will try that (again: this is already my second pair, the first failed audio-wise on one channel immediately). This pair is about 15 months old.
Hi there, just out of interest did you fill in the warranty claim on your headphones? Mine are the about 18 months old and have has the exact same break as yours and the video. I was just wondering what description you put as well as the category for why a claim was being filled in? TYIA
2 years ago I recall struggling a bit to first to register the product and struggling more to file the claim. This time it was much easier: I made contact via e-mail, we went back and forth a couple times and I eventually found my picture of the original receipt and included that. I think that's the main thing they wanted; they didn't seem terribly concerned about how they failed or anything. (This time they were even gracious enough to send the replacement to where I live as opposed to the vicinity of where I bought the original pair while on vacation.) Good luck with yours. @@sachaeinzig-piling1058

Ive had 3 pairs of OpenRun fail on me in 3 years - 2 with failure of the on/off button, one shorted out and died after going on charge whilst sweaty. Great function, questionable reliability.
Nice job! I wonder if and how to hack some shokz openrun (2) so that they support direct cable connection. I need that in order to setup a CROS SSD hearing aid without blocking my only good ear. I'll appreciate any advice!
Same thing happened with mine and I couldn’t get a return because I didn’t have the receipt 😭 the email with the receipt was deleted or something and I just have broken shokz and don’t know where to but all the stuff to fix it
Should have used black sugru moldable glue to repair the silicone. Would have worked a lot better + you can smoothen it with soapy water once it starts to cure
I loved the old ones. Only had to swap it once. The new rebranding, I swapped constant times. Now I have no warranty and conveniently the multifunction button fell off.
Sounds awful. More often than not I am enjoying the extremely cheap in air pods that come from Amazon with their own charging docks. £10 goes a long way there to a solution that actually sounds a lot better than the shokz
This happened to two of my Shokz Openrun Pro. Unrepairable. The cause? Leaning against a headrest, which pushes the headphones forward until your ears stop them from going further, which in turn bends the side outward and snapping the band at its weakest point. Titanium band? 😅. Even before that, both of the headphones suffered silicone covers peeling off and the plastic button covers falling off and get lost. I had to use something pointy to depress the tiny metalic buttons in order use them.
Do you mean the earband between the button panel and the speaker? I've just got a snap on my left side and everything is still working as normal except the position feels a bit off. I'm wondering if stuff like sugru would help.
Slightly different design around the charge port and button to mine. I feel the flexible central wire shaft on yours didn't go deeply enough into the earpiece section to have sufficient support and hence the failure. Could be either design flaw or fault in making, I'll try not to strees mine too much from now on. I only tuned in to see if someone had found a way of replacing the battery, it definitely looks too sealed up!
How has the repair lasted since? I tried something similar with mine but with epoxy putty and a bit of piano wire to reinforce, but was a fail, now my replacement set has snapped and are not eligible under warranty, so about to give them a go!
I can't remember when I made this video, but the repair is still holding strong. I'm quite impressed, especially considering I didn't really take too much care in it. With a bit of time and good epoxy I think your repair will probably outlast your need to use them

I can't recall what I put on the claim form - it's possibly something they change frequently, other than it broke at the band. They asked for a picture too confirm, and I sent them one.

The power button is the biggest weakness of those headphones... It has no real support, except its own solder and the board.
