You know, despite how much of an asshole Murdoc is, you can see in his character that he's genuine about his love for music, musical themes, messages in music, and that he is overall very proud of his band. And ontop of that, he's completed some impressive feats only a leader could do. Although he is a very fucked up leader, but at least he gets it handled. He respects (and fears) Russell, and somehow managed to convince Russell to stay, probably by paying him the salary he deserved. Murdoc also let the band separate, considering he had gone as far as to kidnap Russell then convince him to join the band. He also gives Noodle her space, and did help raise her. And if you're wondering how I know that Murdoc convinced Russell and paid him, well, it's quite obvious. Russell is a massive strong dude. And he isn't exactly being held at gunpoint. If he wanted to, he could easily escape and break himself free from the band. But he chooses to stick around. This is probably because he enjoys making music, gets money off of it, and was convinced to by Murdoc. Overall, my point is, there seems to be a bit more to Murdoc than meets the very disgusted eye.
Also, you can notice some hints of agreement, tolerance, cooperation, and genuine care for his fellow band-members, albeit/although very subtle. You have to observe and look for them with very closely-watching eyes and hard-listening ears.

Or did the interviewer do the questions in advance, and then they did the answers at a studio somewhere different? I think 2D does more of the melody when he does write stuff but Murdoc does the rest. I believe the first album was more by Russel (I don't think he wrote anything, but the hip-hop feel is definitely from him) The second album was mostly Noodle Plastic Beach was basically all Murdoc, but Murdoc confirmed that The Fall is all 2D I think Humanz is all of them together

Why is everyone talking about how smart 2D is now? People change and if the characters stayed exactly the same they wouldn't be very realistic (Realistic? What am I saying this is Gorillaz!), But anyway I'm glad he's finally realizing how much of an asshole Murdoc is.
