What R&B song do you play using the chords I spoke about in this video? Post below so we can help each other! And if you want more in depth help, join me weekly, where I help you apply guitar principles I teach online. www.kerryskamp.com/
My 1st barred chords I used with this method was Fine China by Chris Brown. Very fun to play. 1st major 7th ever was Dmaj7 in the 2nd fret because it's the easiest chord ever to me
I tell a major 7th chord as soon as I hear it on a record, cos it has that lovely dreamy quality about it. Takes you to another world. A world of peace and bliss. I love 70's funk, soul music. It was just magical.
I think I for the most part came to this conclusion a few months ago... Thank you for making sense of this... I have one hole in what I've been doing, Major 7s rooted on the E string... As always, greatfull to you for sharing your gift...
There are a several exercises you can do. One is to play every one across the fretboard on each string. Use a metronome. If you need more personalized help, join me at my weekly beginner's sessions in Kerry's Kamp. You can check us out for free for 14 days. www.kerryskamp.com/
Yes, all are bar chords you strum, however not all strings are used in every barchord shape when you strum. Example...on the first major 7 he shows (with root on the A string) you skip the low E and do not strike it at all, beginning the strum on the A string and on the second major 7 he shows (with root on the E string) you use your pointer finger to mute the A string and just strum through all 6 strings
Yes. If root is on the 5th string, you don't play the 6th string. With the root on the 6th string, you skip a string for the Major 7. It takes a bit of practice to get it. Keep going that goes away basically forever with time even if your callouses go away once you play enough it won’t feel like that the skin just kinda gets used to it

"You Remind Me" by Usher and I thought I heard a little bit of "No Scrubs" by TLC. Great lesson Kerry!
Nice instructional material. Your delivery of the material comes across, to me, as laid back,
and aptly applicable to candid grooves.

My question is are Major 7 an minor 7 cord bar cords? Do I strum all the cords down?
