I've been fighting for two days with an off shoulder ruffle top.- grrrrrr. In desperation I've been surfing youtube and I've found your video. Thank you soooooooooooooo much I'm now going to finish my dress by unpicking everything I've done so far and starting again!!!!!! IF ONLY I had found this first what an amazing straight forward way you have put this together thank you so much.

Great idea Tree stretching the top over the cutting board! It sure beats stretching and measuring and wishing you had four pairs of hands.

This is an adorable top and I love the bold pattern on your fabric. Perfect for summer. I'll be on the hunt for some similar fabric here in Southern California. I like to buy old clothes from thrift/charity shops for those interesting fabrics. Cheers!
Hello Mindy, yes...you are right, thrift stores are a great way to find unusual fabric. This one is from a shop called Marimeko and it's a famous Finnish design called Unikko and I love it. It's not what you'd call a bargain fabric but is like buying a piece of wearable artwork. Thankyou. Tree X

Also, if your machine has an overcasting stitch & corresponding foot then you can use that on the raw edges. I have the Brother SQ9285 and stitches # 7, 8, & 9 are the built in overcasting stitches (IMO #9 looks most like a serged edge) and foot G is the overcasting foot.

I'm sorry but will totally depend on your top but this one is about 15cms wide by one and half X the measurement around the top and shoulders

Do you have a tutorial on how to make a sweater ( or something) out of fabric scraps-I'm down for using all my material and having zero waste:)))

OK, well I would say mix it up and make a clutch bag, kimono etc. Sometimes with scraps, to sew them all together 1st in an interesting way so as to create a new piece of fabric, can be an interesting way of making a new garment that looks colour locked with interesting style lines.
