Patty! Patty! Patty! Your room is looking better and better. I'm so happy for you. Today Karen did notions ... oh boy, yeah. I will be getting rid of some stuff that I've had for years and never used. I always love seeing your vides and pics! Take care and keep decluttering along!
Oh my gosh!! The notions!! LOL As someone who knits, embroiders and sews and quilts AND bakes I have so many little things. It's all pretty well organized though. I really am getting it together. Except for the messy back room. I ordered an organizer for patterns and magazines and I will probably do another culling of knitting books. I photographed some yarn today to list in my etsy shop so maybe I'll list the books too. It's all a process.
Perhaps make an Ironing table from a wood cart, I repurposed an old Microwave wood stand with wheels, it has a nice shelf for my ironing accouterments. I can wheel it where I need it, next to my sewing machine then over to the wall.
That's an amazing suggestion! But I really want to fold it up and stick in the closet so it's put away. My wall space is incredibly limited so being ablet o put things away in a closet is really what I would like to do.
LOL!! The dirty secret is getting worse and worse! But it is what it is. My friend is selling some organizers I want so when I get those it will help back there A LOT. As you know the hard part of this is keeping up the cleaning AND still making new project videos at the same time. I've got stuff laid out on the work table for the next round, and I'm so excited to do my cutting tonight and get it rolling.
I know!! It's a Pier One chair I've had for pretty close to 15 years or more and I love it. I miss having my neighborhood Pier One so much. It was one of my favorite stores.
I just found this video, Patty, It helped me a lot with my rulers. I really like the idea of hanging them! I am gonna try to get a peg board from IKEA like yours. Thanks again, Bless you 😊❤
You're welcome Norma!! I'll still put together a video short today showing how I have everything set up. I think a lot of people would find it helpful. So I appreciate you asking about it!
For now you could use the black book case in the back bedroom for that stuff. Maybe paint it white for a new look. 🤔 Your sewing area looks pristine!!!
It won't even fit back there Bex. I just do not have the space, so I have to lighten up on the stuff and reduce down a bit. Thank you! I do like it to be picked up. It's easier when I start a project or filming if I have it picked up. Plus I don't like a mess facing me as I come and go through the room
I'm really happy to hear that Karen! That's why I do it. I see some many gorgeous sewing rooms on here and instagram, and it feels unattainable. Not all of us have that, and even though it would be amazing to have, it's not necessary to still be productive and make tons of great things. And the clean up and organization is a process for sure.
I have been doing a bit of cleaning as well. My husband made me clean under my bed and get everything out of there. He bought plastic stacking bins at Costco which I highly recommend. Then I put all my sewing stuff I had and put it into another room. Making a sewing room of my own. I want to make a treck to ikea to look at what they have for a sewing table. I like your kallex unit as well. Wish me luck!🤣😊
Have fun at Ikea!! I do have a few videos about sewing room items I've purchased from Ikea. My sewing table is a Norden Gateleg table and my cutting table is the Tornviken kitchen island. So you might want to watch those for ideas! Having your own space dedicated to your sewing is honestly the best way to go!
Wow! You’re really making great progress and it looks so nice. That is how I deep clean a room also just a section at a time. Most of the time I will do the part I dread the most & get it over with. Then the rest seems so much easier. I then just do some picking up through out rest of house & just general light housekeeping. I also alternate cleaning days with sewing days. I’m really just quite happy to be able to get back to getting my house decluttered & clean. Surgeries in 2018,2019, and 2021 my body could only do minimal housework so yes I still love a do no housecleaning day but I love a day of getting it clean too.
I love when I have every room deep cleaned at one time but that’s kind of a rare occurrence. 😂😂 i haven’t done too much this week on it but that’s how it goes sometimes
I just made two Carrie Tote Bags by Kandou Krafts with Ruby Star fabric and Essex Linen. I wanted a new project bag for my knitting. I just enjoy looking at RSS fabric. I have seen trolley carts fitted with a mini iron board on top; a portable ironing station which is good when you’re working on blocks. I always use my mini iron and wool mat while making blocks, nice and light. I use the large ironing board for when I start sewing my rows together.
I've wondered about those little irons. You like them? Do you have a brand suggestion? Oh gosh, I love these Ruby Star prints. It's turning into an obsession though. But what a way to go.
@@PattymacMakes Steamfast SF-717, I purchased one at Walmart and it cost around $13 last fall. It’s $21 on Amazon. Combined with a wool mat and a tailors clapper it does a terrific job. I tried a different brand and I gave the iron away, this is my 3rd, I like to have a spare one on hand, just in case.
Beautiful, Patty. Functional, just exciting to think about actually USING your space. I like that you take ideas from various sources and use the ones to make your space work for you. TFS. From Cheryl in AZ
Looks great Patty, your sewing space is much more user friendly I think. I know how hard it is to get rid of things you just think you have to keep but I found that once they were gone I didn’t even think about them. I got rid of a ton of books two chairs and a table. You go girl, watch her organize.
Thank you so much Wendy! It's really hard to let go of some things, so thank you for the encouragement. I'm really liking the streamlined direction I'm heading.
Oh my! I would want that bookcase to put my quilt collection! I love your craft cart, but they no longer offer it in the turquoise color. I would pay the big bucks if I could get it in that color. Your space is so cute! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Valerie. I really don’t like black furniture anymore. For a time i loved it and had several pieces but now i really don’t like it. And i Don’t have anywhere else to put it. It won’t fit anywhere else. I love my cart! I’m looking for something to go in the closet in the back room to help me organize and all they have is one in black. 😕 I’m not amused. What i really want is from ikea but it’s out of stock so it could be months before it comes back in.
Hi Monica! I have a video where I cleaned my Brilliance and it should get you going. Same idea with taking the pieces off of the throat plate. I will film cleaning the Patchword specifically when I clean it next time. I hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/AzJWyu9EWhw/видео.html
Borderline insane. Now that was funny. :D I could never take all my things from one room and pour it all out in the middle of the floor. Mt. Everest has nothing on me. ha. I like you work best with one small area at a time. But sewers have a harder time than most I think. We have so much wonderful stuff who could give it up. Not me. ;) But I agree, a less cluttered space is easier to sew in. Happy decluttering and getting your sewing space set back to rights.
It's really hard in a smaller space. I'm limited on where I can store stuff because I have no real wall space and therefor no way to install storage. It's a bit of a challenge, but I like the high ceiling and sky lights.
Patty.....did I see a crochet bowl in your dump room??? Love the 2 sewing machines..I live in a small two bedroom trailer and trying..key word...(trying, not much success yet)... to turn one room into my craft room...looking to upgrade my singer simple 2263 and wondered what ones you use, they look like singers...
Hi Elaine! It is a yarn bowl! I actually knit so for me it would be a knitting bowl. The white machine is a Singer Patchwork which I absolutely love and the grey machine is a Heavy Duty which I just got so I have a heavier machine as a secondary machine. My older back up was having some issues with stitch length and regulation so I wanted to get something while it's still available. Plus the heavy was on an incredible black friday sale last year and I couldn't resist it. I love them both but what you get depends on what you mostly sew. You can't beat the Patchwork for piecing.
