That’s fantastic stuff, all seem very usable live, looking forward to loading these up. Bought a GX10 yesterday so I could run a guitar/bass setup easily without around a million useless bass effects (looking at you Zoom).
Fantastic presentation of some Ace sounds thank you It is said there are 170 fx on board but nobody has any clue what they are I downloaded the manual from boss but no fx list Guys has anyone seen a list of what the fx are you Thanks
First time I have heard a useful, good sounding demo of the Sitar Sim :) That Optima amp model sounds great. I might be inclined to use the gain switch and some assigns to get "channel switching" vs. going over to that Ultra amp. That DefLite preset sounds great as well! Dig the Titan amp \m/
They are a very cool gizmo, I'm personally not a user of layered effects, I've heard a possibility on this new unit that's tempted me to maybe get one for an alternative harder driven tone to run in conjunction with my fingerprinted tone currently I'm getting via my GT-1....these are the only gadget I've heard in the last 4 years that's tempted me in all honesty...fun video mate, thanks.
Nice work Brett. The GX units are great, and I regret selling my GX100 and will probably by another one even thought the GX10 is brilliant, I prefer the extra foot switches on the 100 for running it manual.
I'd gladly make this work in the event my touring FM9 rig failed (it hasn't in over 500 gigs). But you have to realise there's a significant price difference between the two and that those prices are reflected in the capability of each product accordingly. You cannot buy a Lamborghini for the price of a Hyundai, even though each will get you safely from A to B.
@@BrettKingman Oh yeah, granted the Fractal will do most anything the average guitarist could ever think up,and then some...more that the signal quality is in the ball park I guess. If you'd run it, then given the price and form factor it seems like a serious option for most mortals. What would you run it into on stage assuming no in ears? BTW the Ioniq 5 N gets to 100kph in 3 secs Fastest Lambo 2.8 Way more though I'd imagine :O This kinda symbolizes what's happening with tech...
@@roscius6204 I've been running the Fender FR-12's on stage behind me, and whatever is available from the backline company up in front of the mic, usually something hideously expensive like NEXO, Martin or the like. Truth is, I like the little plastic RCFs just as much as they have a good midrange for guitar tone delivery. Cheers.
@@roscius6204 This new unit even though it's less $'s than the more $'s options without any doubt, has a engine in it that can shame any 'Lambo/Ferrari' in a blink if you have ears.
I am wondering! is it worth selling a Boss GT-1000core to fund one of these? im interesting in the bigger/colour screen, foot pedal and ease of use, im not too fused about getting too deep with editing. what is the sound quality like? GT series vs GX series?
The sound quality is slightly better on the gt1000 but to be honest it isn't realistically noticeable. In my opinion the GX is a true hidden gem in the guitar world. If you can sell your gt for a good price, go for it for the ease of use alone. Just keep in mind the dsp limitations of the GX even though I realistically never run into any problems running a multi effect parallel amp chain. Hope I helped!
I’m wondering is this the one I should get? I’ve been going through a lot of head trips. I’m a guy that still uses the boss ME 80 although I have a very very good reverb pedal at the end that I run in stereo even though that isn’t a stereo unit I’m wondering about this something that won’t kill me financially that actually sounds good and is user-friendly. I mean I’ve gone back-and-forth. Should I get a helix? Should I get the tone X? Should I get this or that it never end
how do you compare it to GX-100? To my surprise I am digging this better than GX-100 , but it is basically same technology and same spec! Am I missing something? GX-100 more live friendly? This one the first impression was the strongest among all Boss modelers.
Much of the AIRD and effects suite are exactly the same, which is a great thing. This one features a few extras though, which will also be available in the GX-100 shortly, I'm told. Aside from that, the bigger one has the extra footswitches, etc. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this. Am considering a purchase. How does the unit stack up for running through a real amp? I have an AC10 that I love but would like to use this instead of my board.
Brett, your presets sound great. Do you think the GX-10 will pair with my Boss Katana Gen 2 on the Clean amp, or will I need an amp that doesn’t have any modeled amps in it? Also, is there a way to use the Katana without an amp model - just like a powered speaker??
Great review! I recently got a BOSS GX-10 effects processor, but after attempting a firmware upgrade, the unit got stuck and now won't boot. I've contacted local service providers, but they couldn't fix it, and there's no warranty support here in my country. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any advice on possible fixes or recovery methods would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Contact Boss support first, they'll lead you from there, in most instances there's an override manual reset capability which requires 2 or 3 buttons to be held down for around 3/5 seconds prior and whilst turning the unit on, either way Boss will know your next move and help you I'm sure.
@LIKEFUNK unfortunately I can't reach anyone from BOSS. If update gets stuck it needs servicing. It doesn't boot and there is no reset. Service here told me it needs card replacement that will take time and cost may be high. So brand new device is useless now. It is not a fail safe update. I regret buying such a vulnerable unit.
@@baktay Boss will always honour any product they make if the owner can provide receipt of new purchase from any registered dealer outlet, I'm struggling to understand why your claiming you can't reach their support team, they are available via email via their main website.
@@LIKEFUNK a friend bought it for me in USA. So I can't return it there. Dealer in my country won't accept warranty. This new model is not even here yet at their dealer.
I wish I knew how just the effects would sound through the front of my Fender Hot Rod DeVille using the clean channel. Not interested in amp models or cab simulators.
If you are settled on your current amp? it should sound the bee's knees just bypassing the cabs and sims on this new GX unit and using only the effects, it's a fairly reasonable option cost wise to gain access to the various inboard effects for sure, to buy the pedals individually, would be a lot more costly.
you tried so many multi-effects... if you only played clean tones with reveb, delay and tremolo, would you buy this kind of product (price ?) or JHS pedals ?
I'd buy this kind of product. Pedals are wonderful fun, but I'm very utilitarian and like to consolidate my tone and effects machines into something light and portable that I can grab and go with on a plane in a hurry.
I love the Terra echo but hate that high sizzle roll it does, for those like me I get rid of it with the tone and mix controls on the Terra echo for me a minimum of -18 to-50 does the trick especially going into a real amp but I use that for both the modeled and real amps. For reference I only know the Terra echo from my gx100 the actual pedal might not do this
Great video Burgs. Can you explain Global in the Big Axe-III the FM-9 doesn't have it but I can't figure out what it actually does. Thanks. Oh BTW, can your lovely Wife start doing her gardening videos again my Wife really enjoyed them. I don't know what season it is down under :-)
Global blocks are something that I haven't gotten into yet, but my friend, Greg Summers explains them perfectly at ruclips.net/video/yno99yyHXjA/видео.htmlsi=d-FcIKReyAt6hUfa. Elisabeth's gardening Podcast "Muddy Boots" (www.muddyboots.net.au, currently No.2 on the Australian charts) is taking up all of our time at the moment but I will pass on your kind comment and perhaps we can make some more videos over the coming summer months. Now I want to buy one, just for your presets Brett 😂 I just got the katana 50 gen 3, and I love the presets you did for that.
Some of those tones you've sculpted are diamonds on black velvet without any doubt! congrats you've got superb ears.
Top Notch!!! Thank you Brett!

I am definitely having a look at this Brett. Love the presets.

Can this unit program a drop tuned patch?
The pitch shifter can downtune a half step with high gain amps. But with clean amps it sounds like a leslie.
