- This is a compilation of the latest three extractions of System 002. The total catch is 55,020kg so far; 1/1500th of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and a new crew is already on their way back to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch to continue the cleanup.

Trash accumulates in five ocean garbage patches, the largest one being the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, located between Hawaii and California. If left to circulate, the plastic will impact our ecosystems, health, and economies. Solving it requires a combination of closing the source, and cleaning up what has already accumulated in the ocean.
The ocean is big. Cleaning up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch using conventional methods - vessels and nets - would take thousands of years and tens of billions of dollars to complete. After fleets of The Ocean Cleanup systems are deployed into every ocean gyre, combined with source reduction, The Ocean Cleanup projects to be able to remove 90% of ocean plastic by 2040.

Absolutely incredible… Thank you so much for what you’re doing for this planet
Agreed! So much trash!
Exciting ... the ocean is our lifeline. So grateful people are beginning to recognize how essential it is to our survival and it’s no understatement. We need not be those who don’t know what we’ve got till it’s gone.
so much? the goal of 30million pounds is only 5.7% of how much trash there is in the ocean. Barely making a difference, but yes I agree they're doing a good thing obvs but they need a way bigger goal that 5.7% of trash in the ocean.

They are out there in the process of doing just exactly that ... as they refine the process ... 👍🏼

@@azder4140 That's pretty big talk. Let's see you post videos of your percentages rockstar
It’s amazing to see that actual effective solutions to global scale problems exist! You guys give me so much hope when I’m feeling down. Seeing your hard work pay off just makes everything seem less hopeless and less impossible. Keep it up, the Earth needs you xxx 💙
Hope there come innovative solutions for reforestation or reducing GHGs
Thousands of volunteers are picking up litter in the streets, forests, rivers etc. The Ocean Cleanup is just 1 cog in a massive movement. Everyone can decide to take action and responsibility, but just a few do.
@@BalboaBaggins I’m sorry if I seemed disrespectful. I definitely don’t want to exclude all the effort of other people, and I do believe that everyone has to start the change from themselves. I just feel like until we all would, it would’ve already been too late. This problem is massive and and ocean cleanup has come up with a self-sustainable, relatively quick, effective, and permanent solution. And you don’t see much of these nowadays, when everything seems to get only worse. They’ve shown that something this enormous can actually get better until it’s late!
Me too
I can't believe someone's actually doing it..... totally worth the subscription
These efforts will not be forgotten, thank you and also huge inspiration for more projects to come..!
The world of the present and the world of the future will be in the debt of the "Ocean Cleanup Crew". They are the unsung heroes who make real changes on Mother Earth
This is so much yet so little. Thank you for organising this and keep on going! We all have a part to play to safe the planet 💪🏻
They’re scaling up, they’ll deploy more if this version works well 👍
Cleanup begins with small steps! 😇🌎☀️
Brings some faith back in humanity! Well done too all involved we thank you for cleaning up mans mess and trying to save our oceans/planet!
Thanks for your hard efforts in cleaning up the mess we all make.
If you live in a country that don't export garbage to Asia, and have a working waste sytem, like Sweden for instance, your garbage does not end up in the ocean in the first place.
Looks like mainly industrial fishing waste 🙄 🤔 stop eating all the fish 🐟

Thank you guys!! This is wonderful! Our children and grandchildren will thank you to all of you!
Thank you Boyan and all involved in this operation. I hope someday you won’t have any more messes to clean up.
Every time I’m shocked to see what mankind has done to our oceans. Thank you Ocean Clean Up and Maersk.
Great work! Whenever I'm at the beach we end up picking up bags full of plastic. Lot's of what we see is from commercial fishing vessels (floats, rope, nets, etc.) Nice to see such positive work to help our planet.
It’s really crazy when you think about it. How much money and resources is dumped into this sector and how much damage this one sector is imposing on the earth. It’s all just crazy bad. But somehow it keeps going on. Makes you wonder.
@@sarahgirard1405 It shows how the ocean is an incredible place that should actually be thriving but we (edit: and greedy ignorant garbage dumping corporations) are making it suffer.
The bulk of what they were pulling out seemed to be from commercial fishing. Something needs to be done to reduce the number of water from commercial fishing fleets
It always amazes me how big and many large pieces of plastic that is pulled from the ocean.
Thanks for your heroic efforts!
Thank you to all the hard working men and women making this ocean cleanup a reality! I wish I could give everyone a big high five for doing something so wonderful for our planet 😘🥰😍
My God, in less than a month you have caught all this plastic...
You give me hope in humanity, and in this period it's not little.
Great work everyone. Thanks for cleaning up other peoples mess
I REALLY APPRECIATE and APPLAUD the important work you're doing! Thank You
All I can say is Thank You, Thank you to who ever is funding this project.
Brilliant job guys, KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING
I can only imagine the marine life you have all saved , Bravo 👏🏻
This needs to be shown on the news every night and in every classroom.
What an incredible result. Thanks for putting so much work in this project, you are legends😘🥳🙏
Thanks soo much for the effort guys keep up the good work to save our planet and keeping our nature clean to the generations to come ❤
Please don't stop doing this, you're so important, your idea is amazing, the world need you and your mission, keep fighting for your project. THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU'RE A REAL HERO!!
Thanks for all you are doing for oceans. Fishes thank you!!
PS: amazing the fact there are not fish in the extractions! great job!
I don't think the fishes will ever thank them, We're killing millions of fish every day just for a single meal :?
Even though I've seen several of your " catch results" videos , I'm still amazed at how much crap is getting pulled out of the Ocean !
and disgusted that it's in there in the first place :( Keep up and at it on the wonderful work you are doing on behalf of the Planet :-)
I know, it's super disgusting but it shows how much we need this cleanup. It's great work, I had so much emotion seeing this video of garbage coming out of our ocean.
Thank you for doing this. Incredible what humans will do to their environment, not to mention the creatures who live in the ocean.
Now this is what you can call making a real difference! It’s incredible to see how far you have come and I’d love to see what the future holds for this project. Let’s meet those goals!
Thank you guys do doing such an incredible job cleaning up the mess we humans have made 😢

I think it would be cool if you monitor the amount of chemicals and salt in the water as you go.
Mybe drag some seaweed on the side of the boat for fish and so you can monitor bolth the fish and pollution in the seaweed.
Thoughts.
Big kudos to Maersk for supporting this! It's shocking to see how much garbage is there in the ocean right below the surface. Shocking. Well done Team Ocean Cleanup. Way to go!!!
This both truly saddening and uplifting to watch - the fact that all that garbage was out and that it’s but a mere fraction of the entire patch. But that also means now there are people actively tracking the problem and documenting their efforts to show and give others hope that one day we’ll be able to look back on this and smile.
Thank you, guys! You're amazing! We are a sad bunch not to take care of what is essential to survival! Lots of love!
A fantastic amount of plastic that you have taken out of the ocean, keep it up!
Absolutely amazing to watch from done here in South Africa. Thank you
*This* is the kind of news mainstream media should be showing. 😊🌎☀️
Thank you so much for this!! You guys are incredible!!
Those little fish at the beginning of the video are so adorable. Thanks for making a clean-er home for them!
It's astonishing both the amount of trash that they're able to get out AND that it's still a fraction of what needs to come out. What an excellent endeavor to be a part of, honestly!
So cool what you are doing! I finished my master last month and started my first fulltime job. I had a checklist of companies I want to donate to. The ocean clean up was one of them. 20€ per month ... definitively a good investment. Keep on the good work!
There is still hope for humanity. Amazing stuff guys.

I wonder, as the Ocean is not a human, who should it blame?
It is good that there are people like all of you, and also those who voluntarily help and support financially! Bravo! ❤️
Thanks for giving us a glimpse into the wonderful work you all do. So proud of your efforts and outcomes!
Well done folks, another win for the team...

Because of people like you, i don‘ t give up hope, thank you 👍
I could watch this all day, over and over and over again.
And it just keeps coming!!! We need to get a major handle on our plastic use like YESTERDAY! Thank you SO SO much for this incredible project and for what you are ALL doing for our planet and especially our marine life. KUDOS!!
Yeeaaah!! Keep working guys! You're amazing! Thanks a lot!!
Great stuff!
1 question, seems like when you first bring the bag onto the ship a lot of the plastics are being crushed? You can hear it in the intro. Wouldn't this be releasing micro plastics into the water? Seems like a gentle ramp on the end would make it quicker/easier to load onto the ship, and potentially reduce micro plastics:)
That is so beautiful to see fish 🐟 swimming free from trash 🗑 👌
Way to capture this and show it to the world! These are important images.
Absolutely awesome, God Bless ya.
Would love to see the sorting being done.
Just burn it in waste burning plants, they are needed anyway instead of throwing rubbish in the landscape.
@@Stoffmonster467 Toxic gases though, better to recycle
That is insane , you guys are doing great things for this planet . While the effect on the atmosphere is minimal it is a difference . Removing all that waste will help the ocean capture more CO2 and anything in that direction is a good thing these days , plus hopefully we get less micro plastic in our seafood .
The net C02 of the just this one trip is likely WELL above what is gained by removing trash. That ship is 240ft long that has to sail something near 2500 miles round trip if its based in the LA/LongBeach area. All to collect 30,000 pounds of trash. Thats orders of magnitude below even 1/100th of whats being tossed in rivers and oceans daily. This whole thing is logically futile until consumers change their habits, and governments are held financially liable for what is discharged from their rivers. Both of which will never happen
@@jarred267 That all depends how short sighted you want to be , after all the effect is 24/7/365 , if you want to measure the effect for only one year perhaps it is less than the cost I don't have the numbers to figure that out however any effect that continues for the length of time it takes the plastic to break down and no longer decrease absorption with have a positive net effect no matter how you try to spin it .
Great work! Please use ISO 8601 for date stamps (YYYY-MM-DD) so everybody can agree. 😉
God bless these people. This should be news all over the earth.
Such a nice way to inspire individual and team cleaning efforts. THANK YOU
almost every time I see it being pulled on board, I think "that's not very much", But when it is dump onto the deck, WOW!

This is the effect of all of our choices worldwide for "cheap" single-use plastic "convenient" choices which we see are anything but cheap or convenient, very costly and dangerous more like!
