Yo yo ta for the shout out Mr mower man.. it's a pleasure to help you out.. sv 150.. ohhh a lovely engine.. hope you and the family are all good.. will watch as I'm working on a nice old Briggs
You are a genius in my eyes and big thanks. Five minutes in and you told me enough to get my lawnmower running. I did not get the click when pulling back lever so helped it by pulling back with finger at engine end and started first time. I had left lawnmower outside for a couple of weeks under shelter but I think this caused the cable to stiffen up.
I've never used this oil extractor, well I've used it once, well a couple of times. I've got the ewk extractor, similar to that, I've never used it, well I've used it once, well a couple of times. It's brilliant. 😂
I repaired a mower for a friend with the same engine. It had no compression so I swapped out the piston from a used engine and Bobs your uncle, fixed 🔧
I’ve started buying and selling mowers now and from the 6 or 7 sv150s I’ve dealt with they’ve been alright, the carbs aren’t to fiddly to work on and they’re good strong engines when running, got a old mower with a sv150 a few weeks ago that was commercially used since new, the handles and wheels were completely worn out but the engine was perfect even though it had done a huge amount of work. Good little engines in my opinion 👍
Great little video, good to have a few mistakes along the way because we are all human ! , my SV150 can be a bit tricky to start but I can see what to do with your video !, great stuff thank you.
Cheers again Paul, I do love to endlessly spin a carb trying to remember how it fits, even though I've done it a million times. God forbid we were doing surgery! 🙄
@@MowerMan quick question whilst you're feet up like me watching work related vids! BH busy... I'm hours into a stupid MTD 46SPO with worst running ever. So firstly I went down the carb route, then found a sheared key, but after rebuild ran same if not worse. So then I went down valve lash checks today, and ANOTHER carb clean and rebuild ( just in case), and hope to start her up tomorrow morning. Fancy a listen if I send you a vid link, and see what else you consider maybe at play? I'm at end of my knowledge, it's just been a lemon for me....Big Jack
Perhaps it's a piston rings thing? Slight compression issue maybe, or a dodgy exhaust baffle not giving enough compression? Any idea what the compression reading should be roughly? I'll buy a tester for future use anyway....
First class vid, picked myself up a non running mower and two strimmers for 50 pounds used your vids as a reference and went through all tge usual suspects, diagnosis is lacking compression valves and cylinder look in order and seated correctly the head gasket looks a bit suspect despite being in one piece going to try replace it and see how it goes fingers crossed that resolves the issue
I am turning 16 in the summer and I am looking to start repairing mowers for profit. However my parents are hesitant to let me do this because in the case that I sold a mower to someone and they had an accident with it and got hurt they are worried that they could try to sue me and my parents for selling a unsafe or faulty machine which caused the accident. I was wondering what you would do if something like this happened to you. Thanks.
Great videos! Came across them after buying an sp184 Mountfield. Engine runs pretty good although has a mild mis-fire so wanted to investigate carb / plug settings from your videos. You said you don't love working on these engines. Which ones are your favorites to work on then?
Great video on the SV150. Mine starts and runs great BUT when hot (10 minutes or so of running) it starts to idle poorly and then stalls? Then have to wait a few minutes before I can restart. Any ideas why this might be?
get yourself aproduct called SEA FOAM it in the usa but you should be able toget online it can be use on all engine.types it is a fuel system cleanerthat does not damage tje pladtuc parts
Top video , I wished you lived in the north east. I have a new Honda Izzy 21 inch. It’s so slow, any tips on how to speed the drive up. Thanks in advance. Rob.
Make sure the choke opens up fully. pull air filter off and look and see what happens when you alter the throttle. Move the cable position under the air filter around a bit and see what happens
Hi I all ways enjoy your video's,I got a question,I brought a all most new mountfeld sp 42,st120,chv, 123cc it's a very nice mower but it's just a little uneven when it's running, could it not be set up quite right,or maybe just wants a service,it has only been used a couple of times, Best wishes.
Thx for great vids! i want to ask u about Sealey TP69 Manual Vacuum Oil and Fluid Extractor, 6.5L, are you happy with it? i was thinking of buying it but feels like it is a little bit expensive. or is it worth the money? when it is ful of oil how do you empty it?

Yeah they are solid enough just a little more fiddly to fix for a newbie
@@MowerMan yep I definitely prefer to work on a classic 35 briggs but I don’t mind putting a little bit of extra time in for the other mowers

Can the mouse s flute go in both ways ? , great to see new investments on the oil extraction, best detailed videos on mowers on the tube
No it's thinner at one end. Thanks Paul
@@MowerMan thanks for clearing that one up Paul 👍
Love the videos. Would you know where i could get a replacement pull start recoil assembly for a HUNTSMAN 40cm (16") PETROL 98cc. Many thanks
unfortunately not. You could save a search on ebay though to notify you if one comes up

Some of the carbs on these new mountfields are a bit hit and miss Stephen hopefully it will settle down. Try changing the gap in the spark plug also
