I like how Phil doesn't just blow people off and gives thoughtful and insightful responses. And I know he's talked about how he's self-conscious when speaking, but I've watched him from the vet beginning, and his pronunciation and especially articulation have improved dramatically, especially over the last year or so. Not that I mind, but I know Phil does so hopefully he sees this.
Great work on the video Phil!...and awesome meeting you and Hailey out there! That is about the most insane piece of trail building I have ever seen. Tom is either a genius or a madman :)
Great to see you guys back on the trails together. Love the back story and the reason you left the culinary field. Just another example of what a great guy you are. ✌️
Really nice trails system. I have to check it out. This past Weekend, I rode Ascutney (I was there for the Gnar Weasels race). From the mountain, there is a trail called Norcross. If you take it to the left, it goes into Brownsville and continues on for a long ways. The trails are amazing. Flowey and rough with exposure, rocks, roots and great berms and wooden features in places. When you finally start going downhilll, the trail turns into Swoops and Loops. That part is incredible. Narrow, flowey and alot of quick turns, rollers like you just ridden and great berms.
Always GREAT stuff, Phil. Do not know what prompted your channel rec; have binged a bunch. I haven't ridden anything close to a mountain bike since 1993...Phil makes me want to take up the endeavor in my early 50's. VT raised for 23 years. Grew up skiing so many of your biking scenes, probably every one in VT or NH with a lift.
great trail (props Tom!!) great zone - the trees, the terrain, the views, the trail, great video! next time I'll show you how we got up there 🤣 (i brought gummy bears for snacks too)
Awesome video Phil love the content man. I've fallen in love with bikes ever since I was 5 (I'm almost 16 now) and just to see other people rip is awesome. Maybe one day when I have a job I can buy my own bike instead of $200 Walmart bikes lol.
Phil, you should totally make a trip to grand junction! There is powderhorn bike park, the palisade plunge, fruita trail system and lunch loops trails! So much mountain biking in one area!
Probably without knowing you said something in Dutch at 02:30 when getting on that hill. I heard you say oh dat is hem or in your case oh that is 'em haha :)
i love your videos... i love how it was so flowy and how much happier ig you could say you seemed to enjoy it more and talking a little more because you seemed more happy you and Hailey have a relationship i wish to have in my future i mean think about it you have someone important to you that also rides bikes with you its mind blowing and how you said you make a living from youtube which is a dream of mine and im glad you could do it you really are an inspiration to me and i image to all of your subs to keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haven't notice in other videos as much as the others its crazy how we ride rough stuff but when its the Flowey stuff we get tired easier like we gotta ride Flowey on Monday and rough Tuesday and switch to jumps another day just to be in shape lol!!!!
Hey Phil so when's the merch store coming we are all waiting for the merch man. haha i read a article that some of these people that are tubers and have merch do very well with the merch. i know you would have good stuff and be fair on price cause you are genuine and i think you would pick superior products. so ten years down the line we will all be riding skills brand bikes. haha
@@SkillsWithPhil good 👍 loving seeing you shred ! Keep it up you were not as productive for a bit now you got a good flow I rather watch your video then anyone els there entertaining as heck
Hey Phil you should go to Slate Valley Trails in poultny VT. My favourite trail there is the black trail hunker down and I think it would be cool to see someone as skilled as you ride it and film it! I also think you would like the trail hunker down because it has tech, jumps, chunk, and flow. btw there are like a dozen other trails there that are awesome I just ride hunker down the most cause it's awesome.
nice didn't know about these trails will have to check them out soon. speaking of riding different terrain any plans to goto the desert? don't think I've seen you ride like Utah/Arizona/Durango etc.
Niceeee I dig the bc vids, but this is what I subscribe for, being from Waterbury, VT and just coming home from Colorado now I have a new trail to ride this weekend. Do you know if they have any more plans for trails in Rochester? Great video as always thanks Phil!
Oh yeah, now that tom is done with this project he's gonna hit the ground running. He's already wrapped up a project in Stowe, but i know he's got other things lined up in Rochester
Been watching for awhile, very new to the world of MTB. Was wondering if anyone more engrained in it knows of a good bike company local to Texas or if there are any forums or subreddits that would be best to look up. Sorry Phil to borrow your comment section for these questions. Keep up the amazing work!
if I recall correctly, you had mentioned in a video awhile back, probably a year or 2, that Haley works at UVM...? I know someone that works there as well, a man I had known 20+ years ago from the Bay area, the king of the blast beats... Hirax Maxxx
He had some help for this one. As of very recently, he's gone into business with one of his former colleagues from the highland trail crew. Both are amazing builders. I also think there was another set of hand helping periodically, but it feels like he's been working on that trail for 2-3years!
Where did you go to school to be trained as a chef? Did you go in North Carolina when you met Seth? My wife went to Johnson Wales for it probably same school if so.
I've done 6years of college, 2 for culinary, 4 for business and marketing. The latter was at lees mcrae college in north carolina where i met Hailey. It was on spring break i went down to FL on spring break and i first met seth.
Flow country trail in Austria is 14 kilometer / 8,9 mile ( 500 meters / 1640 feet op elevation) Don’t know exactly how much berms but like every 40 meters ( feels like 250 berms ) . 90 minutes descent . Almost no uphill . and many table tops to practice on . No this is not meant as promo , but if you have the opportunity it’s probably worth it
So cool (yet bizarre) to see the MTBNJ crew in the video. You really cranked this out quickly…. Love watching your videos, still trying to figure out how you’re able to defy the laws of physics with some of the sh!t you do. 🤙
You mentioned that the downhills seem more physically demanding than the uphills... Have you ever considered overlaying heart rate data from the fitness tracker/smartwatch onto the gopro footage? I have seen a few DH videos do that.
Phil if you were a berm you'd be a beautifully sculpted one
“Freshly packed”🤣

Curved in all the right spots

Just became a paid trail builder this summer and I have so much respect for the impressive trails that take so long to build lol
Glad to see you both riding together again on this video.
I live about half an hour away from rochester, great place to ride! We have some really fun trails here in randolph, vermont too. Have fun in VT⛰
The rollers that you doubled and then landed manual and then went right into railing the berm.....that was sick!
OMG I'm so stoked you rode Tunnel Ridge! My house is 25 minutes from there and I can't wait to give this one a try
Went to school near there! Ranger station is the go to bike spot for Middlebury. Love it
We ever going to see you in the UK Phil? You would love to see you shredding the parks in Wales for a start.
