Everyone seems to have their own way of making soap. And that is SO great because we can make what works for ourselves, using ingredients to suit us as individuals. Thank you for posting this. I really enjoyed watching your process and hearing your instruction. Knowledge sharing should be encouraged!

Your soap looks beautiful. Love the simplicity.
Coconut Oil is an effective cleanser so you may wish to reduce your quantity to 30% as opposed to 50. And increase your olive , or which ever oil you choose, accordingly.
Naturally the adjusted recipe would need to be run through a Soap Calculator again 😊

Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, I do love how simple this recipe is. For a cost-effective soap I heavily rely on coconut oil (so 50%). But yes, it can be quite effective! I wouldn't use this on my face, but my hands and body do great with it!

I was watching how well meat slicers cut bread yesterday, how'd I end up here? Anyways awesome stuff, I had no idea about making soap other than the movie Fight Club.

Wait, how did the lye get hot? How did you heat the lye inside the plastic container?

Mixing lye with water produces heat. It's called an exothermic reaction. It's chemistry. Just mixing them gives you a very hot mixture

Thank you for your question! As someone already commented, once the lye hits the water it heats up to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit. It can easily cause thermal burns which is why I advise to wear gloves and goggles etc. Thank you for watching!

I haven’t watched your video yet - just the intro - but for your info I very much doubt that your olive oil is bona fide. Plastic bottle for starters and the yellow colour. The vast majority of olive oils, especially those cheaper versions, are adulterated with cheap oils such as canola or other highly industrialised oils. This will affect, not only the quality of your soap 5:11 but also, & primarily, the lye quantity required.
I’m posting this for the benefit of the unaware. Please research the derivation of your Olive oils - most especially if it’s EVOO. There is a criminal element stealing entire olive branches, destroying ancient trees in the process- with little regard for the livelihoods of those disaffected farmers, and compromising the oils. Mainly from areas in Greece, Spain and southern Italy - Puglia to be precise 💜

Thank you for the tip! I used refined olive oil here. Costco has always been a go-to for oils, I would hate to think they're selling adulterated olive oil. Definitely something to look into!

Why don't you recommend not to use this soap on the face? Can this receipe be used as hot press and don't have to wait 4 weeks to cure?

My face is on the drier side, hence why I don't use this on my face. Soap with more than 30% coconut oil can feel stripping to those with dry skin. I have not tried to hot process this recipe but my understanding is that yes, you can hot process any cold process recipe. However, I still recommend to cure it for 4 weeks so that you get a nice long-lasting bar. Thanks for watching!

@@thealfordhomestead5191 do you have any recipe that uses those two ingredients to make a soap for the whole entire body? I greatly appreciate for your respond to my message. If you have any videos that you have a soap with those 2 oil ingredients that you might directing me to the link would greatly appreciate thank you. My skin is extremely dry and have to use lots of natural oils with out any ingredients to keep my body moist.
