The teachers are staff who volunteered for this program is kept confidential. I'm sad to see that you are publishing their faces on TV. Because it is such a Hot Topic as to whether or not teachers should carry a gun, this is volunteers only and it's supposed to be kept confidential. Those who participate in this program do it as a volunteer and when there is an active threat in a school they are the ones that will step in the hall to protect your children

Its absolutely unbelievable that we are actually at a point where teachers are asked to protect kids from guns. There has to be a better way. We have let down all of our children and condemned future generations of the same unbelievable heart ache when its total fixable. People need to be made to be responsible for there firearms. Its extremely evident that we do not have as many good gun owners as we had been promised. The GOP wanted more guns, they said it would make us safer, it didn't. Now its time to try something new.

What "new" things would you like to try?

But no time can be spent by our legislators to make good gun control laws, not even a few hours researching the best laws and creating them for our state. Students have to practice what to do. Teachers have to practice. The staff have to practice. All of them, including the parents, have that fear in the back of their minds. But gun ownership, no matter what, is more important.

Something tells me the grants for school security will be those schools that are very small, and they just make the big cities deal with it since they are not as likely to vote for the party that’s in political power in Utah’s legislators.
