I still have mine from being issued back in Cold Lake 2017. Unfortunately they're still issuing the Grey cotton horrible things for actual forces Basic Training for some reason... usually the cadets get the old kit but not this time.
This takes me back… I did my GT at borden about 12 years ago now. I believe I was india company. I noticed they changed up the uniforms we had to wear the gray cadet shirt with cadet shorts, wool socks and cadet shoes lol
Wallace was in Trenton back when I did my GT... all I can say is that he got a lot of warnings. He wasn’t the most happy when he was removed from basic para due to injuries.
I think I am going to start working for pt because I am not fit ;( and I did sports and fitness which is going to probably be hard for me also wait a minute those staff cadets in the front of the shot I know them strange actually wait I was in Blackdown when they interviewed sereno Comberlato
I am 51 - this brings so many memories from the 80's when I was a cadet in 1987 in Ipperwash. It was more military style then, and it was challenging every day. I imagine its nerfed these days with political correctness and woke culture. Still a great experience for kids today to get them off the PlayStation and doing lots of physical activity, learning discipline, and keeping off the streets and out of trouble. I would recommend cadets to any parent with kids 12 yrs and older.
Conservative obsession with culture war nonsense like "political correctness" and "wokeism" and how it's personally victimizing all of them individually never ceases to amaze me; rather, the extent to which it evokes fragility and vulnerability from people who would want you to believe they're "tough, rugged individualists" while simultaneously getting incredibly upset about women and gays being treated like normal people or whatever is unironically amazing. Please, keep it up, I'm not joking when I say that your fragility is as entertaining as it is childish.

(I went to Trenton for GT) I chose the GT out of curiosity because the officers said it was going to be fun. I don’t get the fun. You wake up at 6:00 in the morning and do drill/PT. Then you march for 10 minutes to the mess hall, and you wait another 15 in line waiting to eat. After you’re done, you march back for another 10 minutes. You do more drill. Then you do some activities, lunch, dinner, etc... Everywhere you go is drill. Marching to and from the mess hall, waiting to eat, PT, activities, even attendance before you go to sleep. Sleeping is a huge problem in itself because you have to make your beds a certain way. I make my bed at home but all I do is put my blanket over my bed. Here you have to follow so many instructions and even there are certain creases that your bed must have or else they tear it down and you have to make it again. The beds are very uncomftorable with this way of making your bed. In the morning you have no time before you have to form up because you have to spend all your time remaking your bed from sleeping there the whole night. No freedom at all. If one person talks in drill it gets way harder and you have to stand in the sun for longer. I don’t get the fun of being yelled at and being forced to follow marching commands 90% of your stay there. Maybe they had it better, I don’t know. We did not do zip lining, marksmanship, etc...I had some fun moments there of course, but in my opinion its not worth it. That is just my opinion of course, so tell me if there
Aaah yes, black-down. Memories of Trauma, toxic 16 year old leadership and dumb disciplinary measures. I remember just forming up on the dirt road, waiting for the Military police and Staff to give us a good yell on, all because someone couldn't keep track of their wallet, blaming others for stealing it like some elementary tantrum. Fast forward, now currently in the military. This Never or Rarely will ever happen, with the exception of BMQ.
I am 47 - I used to be a Master Warrant officer and staff @ Ipperwash. Back in those days in the 80's it was proper military camp. The NCO's would kick your ass if were at all a slacker or not showing respect. Today it look like a typical 2019 environment. No discipline, safe spaces and support council. It looks like any other day camp for kids. Does having rank even mean anything these days?.
@@mrblue2052 the survival course is nothing like what it was, even when I was a cadet in the 90’s, and I now teach it. But I have to agree that it is still a bit discipline but not much anymore
@@Comrade-Canuck Sorry about that comment, I was just being very cocky back than. I did that course about 3 years ago at Blackdown. We had like 1/3 or 1/4 of the cadets gone by the end of the course.
