I then got a lot of music suggestions, found a channel called "A Pirate's Life" watched 'Varend Volk - This Night We Spend Ashore' and somebody in the comments mentioned "Alestorm". It's been one hell of a rabbit hole, and I don't regret a bit of it.

Once I was at an Alestorm concert, circa 2017, when I was 19 at the Hellfest, France. Never seen such an ambiance and energy in a crowd. At first a man pissed in a watergun and fired it out all over. Then we drank lots and sang much, before all go down in the mud, mimicking the endless rowing of our pirate ancestors. I don't quite recall how it did end up as boose and mead troubled my memory. Trully, a shaping experience. I will never forget. Thanks lads.

In America, college freshmen are 18 to 19 years old, which places them below the legal drinking age. As such, they are unable to purchase their own alcohol, and descend upon parties like a swarm of locusts hellbent on drinking everything they can get their hands on. I made the comparison that, much like the pirates in this lovely ballad, college freshmen are only here to steal and drink our beer. Hope that clears things up for you.

Look up Storm Seeker. They're an up and coming pirate metal band from Germany. One of their members has actually performed with Alestorm on a couple of occasions.

So...recently I was going through a period of METAL scarcity....was listening to a lot of indie music & was looking for fresh new metal music, I was even asking ppl to suggest new bands. and strday thnx 2 Alestorm I found the youtube channel of Napalm Records & boom its been a metal fiesta since then...so sooo many new bands.... Russkaja, Tiamat, Gloryhammer, Lacrimas Profundere & many many more. It feels awesome! \m/\m/
One interesting note here: The singer of Alestorm is the keyboarder at Gloryhammer ;)

Once I was at an Alestorm concert, circa 2017, when I was 19 at the Hellfest, France.
Never seen such an ambiance and energy in a crowd.
At first a man pissed in a watergun and fired it out all over. Then we drank lots and sang much, before all go down in the mud, mimicking the endless rowing of our pirate ancestors.
I don't quite recall how it did end up as boose and mead troubled my memory.
Trully, a shaping experience. I will never forget. Thanks lads.

In America, college freshmen are 18 to 19 years old, which places them below the legal drinking age. As such, they are unable to purchase their own alcohol, and descend upon parties like a swarm of locusts hellbent on drinking everything they can get their hands on.
I made the comparison that, much like the pirates in this lovely ballad, college freshmen are only here to steal and drink our beer.

A friend of mine has nightmares ever since he listened to this song. And I'm not joking here totally serious, he says he often dreams that a bunch of pirates invade his house and steal all the beer from the fridge and he can't do shit apart from headbanging while they laugh at him.
