    "This is my favorite beer" has to be the most useful phrase to learn. Smiling! But exactly: learn phrases! Of course, yes/no, left/right, push/pull/, exit/entry, etc. The numbers from 1 to 10; who, what, when, where, what time/day, etc. are good to know. How much? is very important (smiling). I like/love (or don't like/allergic to!), There's more, but my teaching and learning philosophy is COMMUNICATION. Hang the grammar. Use gestures, too. What a cool language/linguistic experience. Rock on Matt and Julia! Thanks for another delightful visit with your Chinese host family!

    My favourite episode so far. It has a lot of warmth and depth. I wished I could have squeezed myself in at the end of the table and joined you. A bit difficult, though given that I'm vegetarian! I admire your courage in enrolling in a language school to learn Chinese and grow in understanding of Chinese culture, something language apps can never do. I love your travel vlogs, you are in a class of your own.
    Looking forward to the next one.

    Chinese people attach great importance to family and children, and to their education. People in the north are more enthusiastic, with cheap prices and convenient transportation. They have heating in winter and the temperature is about 25 degrees indoors, so life is pretty good. If you live in Europe for a long time, it's a bit boring. Living in Asia for a while occasionally is a new experience.

    Very busy household. I didn't know what that instrument was so I looked it up because it sounds so beautiful. It looks like a guzheng but it didn't sound like that when Amanda was saying it. The food looks delicious, you are fortunate to have a professional chef in the house.

    • @howardcheung5809

      yes it is a guzheng.

    • @nuo.not1033
      @nuo.not1033 Месяц назад +1

      Amanda's feeling is wrong, what you think is right, Guzheng also has many different specifications, this is just one of them, and similar to the guzheng is the ancient Chinese qin, the appearance is similar to the guzheng, but the timbre is not as rich as the guzheng, the history of ancient Chinese qin is nearly 1000 years earlier than the guzheng. There is a very interesting phenomenon that many Musical Instruments named after a single word are native to China, such as:琴、筝、笛、萧、埙、笙。
      There are also instruments such as pipa, erhu and suona, which were mainly introduced to China from ancient Persia. The interesting thing is that these foreign instruments are better developed in China, while Iran is almost lost, which is a pity.😂😂😂

    The important thing in an Asian society, when young children connect with grandparents, they learn the Chinese value system and cultural traditions when they grow up. These may be lacking in the upbringing of any children who are left to nannies etc. to be looked after in some parts of the world. Most Chinese are therefore , very attached to their grandparents in this sense. They remain filial, respectful and loving to their grandparents as part of the value system.

    Regardless of nation, human beings are all capable of love, compassion, loyalty, generosity, and integrity.
    We who put borders between nations and form our own cognitive biases against other nations that our governments' deem as "enemies" are really not so different at all. Such experiences like this show that really humans the world over are all the same deep down. Videos like this are a good lesson to people that differences shouldn't need to matter!

A typical German would say their country is really mundane, nothing exciting about e.g. "that typical German architecture" (since it's everywhere) so they'd rather backpack abroad so to see something "new". Watching the lady playing the music instrument, reminds me of that.

    Is the crime in China that high? The doors are crazy, like open a bank savings door. Then the security number instead of a key. This all is kinda scary if you consider that Russia has the same.
    Only, not sure about China, Russia is already building 15 minutes cities were there's a playground, adult inbuilt board games, adult exercises, football ground and shopping all downstairs floor level from the streets. Hairdresser, chemist, medical centre, restaurants, cafes etc then living flats above. They are like shoe boxes, you come inside there's a large wall cupboard on one side with sliding doors and other side toilet, shower and vanity andwashingmachine. Then a little store room for vacuum , mop etc. Then comes a room a small kitchen along the wall, table and 2 chairs and a dbl bed . That's all what fit.
    I know from a friend that Hong Kong has similar flats. 😮

      Here come the 50 cent accusing crowd, it has becoming sick and tired kind of thing of these McDonald eating, sport watching keyboard worriers, they don't even know how sad their life is😢😢😢 so counter intuitive now even any Westerner ( suppoingly free vs oppressed Chinese like that family ) in China became propagandists for Chinese government!
      Let set up go fund me name CPC propaganda funds and pay every single Westerner in China to make it a reality 😂😂😂
