hi James, please keep making content. your work has inspired me so much. I'm a corporate 9-5 worker and i'm deeply stressed out over the lack of feeling of control in my life. I have a passion for art but my busy schedule keeps me from doing studies, i want to do art and i desperately wanted to learn, but i am not able to right now because i need to do corporate jobs to live (plus, whenever i do have time, i always feel like i need to rest my body and ended up not doing anything on the weekends/after work).
every time i tuned in to your video i feel like i have regained some sense of control over what i do with my time, and it has helped me when i try to focus on painting. thank you for your work

    First, yay I love this
Ps: just have to say how big of an influence you are to me at this point in my life. Two years ago I was dabbeling with japanese markers every now and then and this summer I might go train hopping with my plein-air kit just drinking in the visual of the world.

I always keep an eye out for Mr. Gurney when I'm out and about. And keep missing him! I was in Hudson not long ago. Same with when he came to the city a couple of times... I still have high hopes though! Hopefully I'll be able to contain my excitement and not freak him out!

@@twycross3 That would be annoying asf to be honest. You see someone doing plein air leave them the heck alone and don't act like an annoyting autist.

Yay more watercolor videos please! I love watercolor in the wild. Thanks for this one. Your videos inspire me to get back at it. I'd love a watercolor video where you have every painted detail on film and maybe speedit up a little? I like to see how you get to the finished product.

I always love the colors that you use. I think learning technical skills are much easier than learning to choose the right colors….. it’s more intuition, I guess? I can see light and shadows but there’s something about knowing the right color combinations that I can’t explain.

Need a painting done at night. I love all of your paintings and have watched most of your videos. There are videos where you paint at dawn and at dusk, rain and a clear day but a there is no painting you did in the night time.
I would love to see how artificial lights, street lamps have their effects on the painting. And what kind of tones and colours would be used in that case.

Incredible how the atmosphere of it came together at the end! I've only worked with watercolor once or twice but I like how surprisingly "bright" it can make a painting feel.
