    Being chased or even just encountering an aggressive dog when you are a kid is traumatic for sure. To want to be able to overcome that fear for herself and her daughter must have been so difficult. Good job Nancy!

      When you're a kid anything overwhelming will be traumatic.

    • @41052
      @41052 Год назад +43

      I got bit by two dogs, once when I was a small kid and one where I was a bigger kid, still a kid though, like elementary. I have a scar on my right elbow and lip now. I still love dogs, it ‘s still scary and whenever medium sized to large dogs come around and especially when I’m walking around and a dog is barking through the fence I get so terrified every time and they won’t even have to be barking either just looking at me and I’ll cross the street or go into the street to avoid the sidewalk. But I live in apartment for animals now and so I see lots of big dogs around so I think I’m getting better, there’s this old man who I see often walking his medium-to-large dog and I pet it even when I was getting scared and now after four encounters I’m not scared of that dog. So I think this is kinda like my exposure therapy.

      I got chased and bitten by a dog on my knees when I was a small child so I’m very afraid of dogs too. Nowadays, when I see a dog walking with its owner on the sidewalk I switch sides and walk on the edge close to the bike lane. For me it is hard to get over that fear and trauma because I’m not exposed to dogs on a daily basis so that fear is still instilled in me.

It still pisses me off how some people still believe that they are born that way when the real truth is that cruel, stupid people who abuse these poor animals are the cause of any aggression they may have towards people or other dogs. I hope this wonderful story about this lady overcoming her fear of dogs thanks to the patience and kindness of two adult pit-bulls helps push the cause for promoting non-discrimination against that dog breed.

    Super cute that she did it out of love for her daughter and a desire to help her, which resulted in her having granddogs ❤ Seeing her spoil them was beautiful and I'm glad the daughter has a pair of absolute sweeties to help her mum get over the fear with!

    Love this story. My neighbour's children were also afraid of dogs. But, they used to walk by my fence and talk to my two dogs. Soon, it was a hand up against the chain link, then fingers through it, then hands over the fence. My dogs were so sweet and loving that in short time, the kids were asking to come in to the yard to pet them. It all didn't really take that long, and then they were so happy to get their own dog. Puppy love, there's almost nothing like it 😍🐕

    Your mom pushing herself to do something she has been afraid of her entire life so that you don't waste money on doggy daycare is the most mom thing I have ever seen. What a wonderful demonstration of her love for you and what a testament to that love in her finding the strength to overcome her fear. You have a truly wonderful mother, I hope she knows that internet strangers see the beauty in her actions

    Her : "They gained 5 pounds when she watches them.."
    The dogs : "That's why we love grandma !!!"
    🤣
    But the fact that the dogs are excited, happy and wants to cuddle and play with her but still so gentle with her is just amazing. Dogs can really tell human energy. 😍☺️

    What a lovely and brave lady. She was determined to help her family and she struggled through her obviously overwhelming fear to do so. She is just wonderful and the pups know exactly who she is - their grandmum who has all the best treats and love and will no doubt let them get away with being a little naughty 😊
