I watched this again and even five years later, I'm still "chopping onions" and "fighting allergies" big time on this. Shannon Sharpe and Deion Sanders gave two of the finest Hall of Fame speeches ever.
What an emotional, heart felt speech. The articulation is superb and the expressions on his face sums up how he really loves and appreciates his mother. That is how love should play out in the family. Thanks for sharing Coach Prime!!
Never realized what a Humble and gracious Man this Brother is , He will go down as a great Player , coach and the most beloved people to play Sports !!!!
The way he speaks of his mom makes me so emotional. I also at time was ashamed of where i grew up and where she woek at.I to strive one day to allow my mom to be in a good plCe n not have to work
These speeches are a class act in humility, Hope, perseverance and unbounded love of family. Forget the news panelists, Royalty, the trashy reality shows. All one has to do is listen to the speeches of these Hall of Famers to be moved, inspired and thankful to have them in our lives.
I've been an NFL junkie for thirty years. I've seen a lot of amazingly gifted men stare down adversity and injury and pain; I've seen these men do amazing things on a football field that we "mere humans" could never do. I could name dozens of great players on every team, on both sides of the ball and every position that I admire for their gifts on the field and off the field. If I was pressed to say who I admired the most, there are several names that come to mind from different teams, positions, and years, but I have to say honestly that Deion Sanders has always been in my top three. Since his very first play in the NFL; a kick return for a touchdown, through all of his years in pro football and baseball, I have loved to watch Prime Time. Now that he is retired, he's dedicated himself to kids who remind him of where he came from. I love Deion Sanders for his work ethic, his dedication to helping kids, his love for his Mom and his family, and his amazing personal journey. Two names, but really just one laser focused, fast as lightning, amazingly gifted man, who loves "this game". God Bless! #TRUTH
Coach Prime, your speech was so inspiring and motivating. You spoke from the depths of your heart. Today, as I listen you, you continue to provoke CHANGE and you continue to allow God to lead, guide and direct your path. Much ❤love to you and your family. You’re truly one of the best fathers.
I'VE LISTEN TO PLENTY OF NFL HOF SPEECHES FOR YRS.&THIS IS BEST SPEECH EVER, HANDS DOWN PERIOD. THERE IS&WILL FOREVER BE ONLY 1 "PRIME TIME"!!!! GOD BLESS U SUPERSTAR!!!!
Beautiful! Words still stands true today. What a remarkable man God has blessed you. And you sure have shared your talents. Keep on serving Brother job well done!
Wonderful speech All these years later Prime is still the same, he is now provoking change here in Jackson, Ms. He is remarkable and thank you Prime for allowing us a peek into your journey. You Rock! God bless…
I still get tears when I watch his speech. It has been nothing but a blessing to see him at Jackson State University. See you at the game Dec. 3,2022 in Jackson Mississippi.
Everyone watching this video remembers his greatness on the field, but I feel like his greatness in everything else will shine through at the end. Most pro athletes aren’t role models, Deion is an exception to that.
I loved his hall of fame speech so much! Of all of the nonsense that he has said his speech was FULL of substance! I loved his tribute to his mom and what he did for her!
What an amazing person Prime is. I feel so fortunate and lucky to have watched Prime Time his whole career growing up. Prime was an amazing DB, and he is a tremendous person! My hats off to you brother! Love me some Prime Time, the most amazing and electric DB ever to play the game of football! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I also watched this over & over again a amazing and godly and family man blessings to you and ur family l you deserve everything that you get for you and your family love you prime🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️
Love this guy right here. 1st time I got to see D.S is when he put a hit on my favorite R.B Keith Jones from Nebraska in the 1988 Fiesta Bowl. It's been legend every since. Much love D, like you said "You got to believe" Thank you Sir I wouldn't be where I'm at today if it wasn't for you Amen.....
Being here in Va. Never was a Deion fan but recognized his greatness as a player... After hearing his speech l found he is much more than a former athlete...As a black senior guy l, along with many others have witnessed athletes make gobs of money, retire, then disappear. This man rose up from nothing, made himself a millionaire, stayed away from a destructive lifestyle, raised a family, made his mother proud and is STILL helping others others and l'm not just referring to other black people. Every person he helps along the way, makes this a better world to live in. His speech had to resonate with every person who heard it there, on tv, or here on U tube as l just did. When his time comes, there is no doubt in my mind he will be greeted and will be told, 'Job Well Done.'
It really sucks for me to not have been able to see any of the late 80s and 90s players play, guys like Deion changed the game and helped get it to the place where it is today. True legends of the sport and giants among men. All of you that got to watch this guys be grateful
miguel madrigal don't dwell on the past. History is being made today. For those who got to see deion etc, like myself, thought the same thing about the greats that came before them. So respect the greatness of the past, but don't forget to stop and respect the greatness that happens before you every Sunday
Best part of his speech - "for all those people who said I didn't tackle, I tackled every bill my Mama ever had"! If those who said he didn't tackle didn't understand that, then their awareness of what really matters is blinded! U go with your bad self Prime because u don't owe anyone a reason or explanation for anything!
Deion was such a charismatic athletic spectacle, it's hard to believe he's so brilliant...but he is....NOT FAIR!!! Always loved Deion, the philosopher.
I remember when I worked for the Colts field crew in 2004, we played the Ravens on prime time (pun intended) and when this man was jogging around the field during pregame, my jaw dropped every time he came by. He stopped the 4th or 5th time and asked me why. I said "Because sir, I am in the presence of a legend and a 1st ballot hall of famer." He said he didn't think so, but he was wrong. This man is awesome! And this is from a Colts fan. Thank You Neon!!!
Wow that was a awesome speech. I'm glad I got to grow up watching him every Sunday and then going outside to play football and doing my prime time dance when I scored a TD. He still looks like he could play and could shut down Dez Bryant.
"Some of you have said that Prime doesn't tackle... Well, since 1989 I have tackled every bill my Mama ever sent me." That's this speech in a nutshell, and it's brilliant. He's one of very few NFL players I've seen who understood from the very beginning that this game is a *job*. Many of them get there in the end, but he seems to have known it since college. Practicing the words to make "Prime Time" a brand, because defensive backs didn't make enough money for what he needed to do -- he knew from before he was even drafted what he was using football for. A lot of guys don't; they just love to play and they like being rich, so they roll with it. And they want to use money as another type of competition, where if I make more than you it implies that I'm better, so they have to get paid more even though they have no idea what they'll use the money for. Deion always knew what he wanted the money for. First for his mama, and then when she had enough and so did the rest of his family, to make a difference in the world. I have a tremendous respect for him for that. Even now, as a coach, he's not just trying to train NFL prospects, he's trying to make sure that all his other players leave college with the skills and the work ethic to be able to make a living at something. Prime Time was a deliberate fiction, but Deion always keeps it real.
Every athlete that have aspirations to become a professional athlete should look at this speach which can carry over in life never listen to others who aren't like minded no one is perfect and whatever you may think of Prime he inspires
Think back to that class of 2011 and how strong it really was. Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Richard Dent, Shannon Sharpe, Ed Sabol. Remember that was Jerome Bettis's first year of eligibility and he didn't make it until 2015.
He is the NFL version of Muhammad Ali sports wise. He talked that talk n backed it up. My favorite athlete of all time because I was a child growing up with this guy he definitely motivated me.
@Damon Mcmann You need to take off your rose colored glasses and do some investigating and research on the fraud named Muhammad Ali. He was a fraud, pawn, puppet and useful idiot as well as an ephebophile predator sleeping with underage girls and getting them pregnant in the 70s and then going on TV to brag about his so-called religious beliefs and principles.
@@damonmcmann5293 Did you read my previous comment? A lot of people are brainwashed and indoctrinated when it comes to Muhammad Ali. He wasn't an infallible deity or God. He didn't cure cancer or walk on water. Deion Sanders was a far better, greater and superior athlete than Ali. Ali was one dimensional and overrated. Do some actual investigating and research instead of being brainwashed and indoctrinated by Ali's hagiographers and worshippers.
I watched this again and even five years later, I'm still "chopping onions" and "fighting allergies" big time on this. Shannon Sharpe and Deion Sanders gave two of the finest Hall of Fame speeches ever.
Word up brother
To this day, I watch Deion Sanders' and Shannon Sharpe's HOF and cry because it's every child's dream
Facts....i just watched Unc Shays again before this one again
I watch those and Ray Lewis every few months. Make my athletes watch them too.
Lol I saw your same comment on the Shannon shadow video and came to watch this one
"If your dream ain't bigger than you, there's a problem with your dream." ~ Deon Sanders
Facts.
Man Prime Time is even the best at giving a speech, my first time seeing this, much respect for Dion Sanders
"If you're dream is not bigger than you, there's is a problem with your dream!"
DGL Frank Gamez a quote to take with you thru life!
it was the best quote of the entire speech
Touche' (smile)
What an emotional, heart felt speech. The articulation is superb and the expressions on his face sums up how he really loves and appreciates his mother. That is how love should play out in the family. Thanks for sharing Coach Prime!!
I know that his mother was fighting back tears, l know that l was...
Water covers 3/4 of the earth, Primetime covered the rest...

This guy inspires me not only on the field but In life also! Deion "PrimeTime" Sanders
Phenomenal speech.
Profound
Shannon Shapre's speech is right there too. I was crying that night.
Michael Irvin’s speech is incredible too. I’d say Sanders and Irvin are the best HOF speeches ever.
Michael Irvin speech was one of the best I witnessed
Throw in Darrell Green's as well. THE 2 best corners in the 90's.

Yesss it is !
Michael "AIR" Jordan and Deion "Prime Time" Sanders will forever be my two favorite athletes ever. And they both had the greatest "HOF" speeches ever.
fooloof Shannon ate possums and raccoons growing up. he's G.
