I haven't played the update yet but I have already purchased the toilet, so i just KNOW this is gonna have to be the best update in the entire history of don't starve
I can't wait to see what Maxwell does in the future. He definitely looked conflicted about something at the end. Personally, I doubt he will betray the survivors to help Charlie. It feels too obvious. I think he will either betray Charlie to help the survivors or betray both Charlie and the survivors to try and come out on top himself.
Not so much conflicted, but rather based on the facial animations and body language in their last two animations, I'd say he looks like he's playing along. He's not committing to it, but instead listening and watching how things are unfolding. When push finally comes to shove, I think the more likely option is that Maxwell would probably sacrifice himself IF and only if he could free Charlie, otherwise he'll use the modicum of his returned power to betray Charlie and help the rest of the survivors. His in-game quotes still lean this way too, he never wants to be a prisoner to or fooled by anything again, be it power or some other force (though it'd be nice to still feel like a king and have others do heavy lifting for him).

He's prideful, and not as good a schemer as he thinks he is, but from the very beginning he never intended harm and while he's more sadistic now, it's pretty clear he still isn't the actively malicious type. The best way to stay on his feet is playing along and gathering information: Either to the end of attempting to surprise Them and retrieve Charlie, or at the very least to save himself and if possible the others too. He's specifically stated to consider himself indebted at least to Wilson, and while masked behind frustration often he seems to have positive opinions of most of the others, likely due to their kindness toward him despite his role. Not the best person in the world, but it wouldn't make much sense for him as a character to betray the others. Not even for the sake of power - he knows exactly what strings are attached to *that*.
Personally, I think exactly this conflict is brewing in him. Which side to choose. The survivors? Charlie? Only himself? And of course, how much is he the old Maxwell, and how much has he learned from his mistakes? The battle in the game is a battle thats also happening in Maxwell.
With the recent rise of video game TV shows a DST show would definitely be possible and also gorgeous! Dead cells is also an indie game with frequent updates and also amazing animated shorts for their dlc and they jut yesterday announced an entire animated show, I really hope klei can eventually do the same!
I think don't starve would make a good show. Some of the examination quotes are pretty funny, if they could keep that energy throughout the show it would turn out great
@@MasterNix I think it would work, but it would need reaallllly good voice actors. It would also require them to put a lot of work into balancing screen time for characters to make them all feel equal and unique enough.
I kind of hope that if there is one its set in a continuity a little more like Inevitable then the DST plotline (e.g. Maxwell still being on the nightmare throne when other survivors are interacting, various gameplay inaccurate things that would improve the series). What little we saw of that alternative version of the constant was very intriguing.
Love how the three shadows at 0:51 have similar attire to the ancient Herald, wonder if they have similar items to his cloak or something! Either way the new content's gonna be fun to explore with pals and I'm glad pure horror is being seen again so soon

Does it mean that this portal leads to him home demension or it's just somehow realted to him? Idk, I'm just a Wortox main and I'm still sad that my boy don't have any lore behind him besides his character trailer with krampus stealing meat and children.
Well, the portal was opened, new monsters were released. It's time to make The Gorge 2 with new mechanics like using a scythe, water mechanics and interaction with it, new big vegetables and so on. Very much looking forward to it :D
I just binged all the animations to catch up on the lore and I must say, I'm astounded by how far this masterpiece of a game has come. I remember playing the game with a friend the year it came out. It was a whole different story then. I'm glad to see you all getting better and better with programming, editing, animating, story writing. It's just a joy to see something you loved as a kid still live and prosper despite the game's age and today's youth attention span. I adore how the Little Drama’s title theme is used when Charlie shows up in the past two trailers Probably the closest we’ll get to a theme or leitmotif for her.
People have been saying this since literally the first animated trailer for the first game but it bears repeating we need an animated Don’t Starve TV show. And I hope as a fan theirs something I can do to make that happen
The item looks a tiny bit different in DST, but both of them drop an item called Dark Tatters, and you can even see in the concept art that they used the Herald as a reference while drawing them

For a normal person it would never be possible, but she wants to pull Them into the Constant - while the shadows are the source of her power, and it may seem impossible, the Constant is her domain, via the Throne - to which, unlike Maxwell or Wilson, she's not bound. That's probably because she was infused with the shadows BEFORE taking the throne, as the Thing in the Dark - she's more powerful than the previous rulers of the Constant, and because of this, she may have something in place to make it possible for her to steal godhood from Them. In her domain, using power greater than her predecessors... she might be able to.

It really does seem this is building to some Shadow vs. Lunar war, with different outcomes depending on who we help in the major battles. It’s the Moon and Wagstaff (and Them, I guess) against the Shadow Creatures and Charlie from The Ruins. Unending and eternally mutating life, or eternally mutating death. Neither sounds very fun.

ofc there are shadow and moon rivals, that's what the past 4 years of development were about. And the eye is seen in the murals that are even older.
