Design-wise, it certainly had evolved quite a bit but I would love it in a high cut version and in triple-black with mixture of matte and glossy surfaces. What you hate about the heel counter makes me like the shoe even more; it is now made of a rigid piece of plastic that is probably an integral piece of the shoe with the EARL engine and most likely the battery & wireless charging receiver unit. The tiny notch at the heel counter reminds me of the iconic Hussein Chalayan design feature on a Puma shoes. Since the heel counter is a harden piece of plastic, I believe that notch makes taking off the shoe hands-free easier by pin the heel counter down with another leg (that's how most people remove their shoes with laces tied with a deadknot).

I've got a pair and I'll say this, if you're light on your feet, these may not work for you. Didn't have any of the other models but just walking around the house, up and down the steps and sitting while gaming, something about that heel cup is wrong. The lacing system is fine, the fit is pretty wide at the toe (comes with some wide ass shoe trees) but that heel cup sink and squeeze is real. After roughly an hour, changing from ankle to high socks, adjusting and readjusting the laces, I realized the heel cup is where my issue lies. That rear lip sits right on my Achilles adding a strange forwarding pressure that feels like an extra lace is resting behind it that you can't untie. Mine are going back because I can't justify keeping shoes that make my foot go numb unlaced. Cool concept, but they're not ready yet. Salute to Ja Morant for ballin in these currently but I'll sit this one out.
The Hoverboard allowed Marty McFly to "fly". The Mag's were just cool ass self lacing sneakers. Btw. That editing when you were opening the box and and showing the sneakers at the beginning was top notch.

Your best bet would be to get the Nike Adapt BB Mags colorway. It's the closest to the original mags you'll get for a better price with the same technology. Design wise, I like the Hyperadapts (came out before the Adapt BB) because of the lights on the heel and the medial side of the shoe. Nike should use the lights from the Hyperadapts on the new Adapt BB shoes and i think it will look way more fire.

The word fly is being used Loosely here. It actually allows him to hover and glide on some type of magnetic force above the ground.

These are way too tight on my feet. I typically wear a 10.5 and got an 11. So tight without lacing these ups.
