My mother appreciated I liked them, and every time we went there we got a few until I had amassed a sizeable collection. I remember stuffing play-dough into the cabs of some of them. I remember one of my early schools having some of the earliest ERTL releases with the stick-on faces before they changed them to the plastic ones. When the ERTL range was discontinued, the Take-Along range came in force as its practical replacement, and I collected a number of that range in effect as well. They have all long since been given away, along with a TOMY Thomas train set I also had and some 00-scale model trains that I practically rarely used. Regards, Samuel Farris.

I grew up experiencing the darker blue Tomy Trains. They had a Thomas range too but not nearly as extensive. Thomas aside, that stuff was awesome and really well made. Clever features too like reversing, and trackside novelties.
I’ve always been a Take Along/Take N Play fan. I had so much making layouts with all the sets I had and even make the trains race each other by running down a slide I used to have at my house. I still remember how I had both Culdee and D199 and get frustrated with not knowing which episodes they were on in the show because at the time I hadn’t even heard of The Railway Series 😂
If you ever do an updated version of this, I think it would be really cool if you lay them out the way you did with your models? It be really cool to see them like that. It would also be really cool to know why you didn’t get certain characters, that could be really helpful for a lot of collectors to hear other opinions. I hope to collect one day, but it’s seems increasingly unlikely for me. I don’t really know how to navigate eBay as a visually impaired person.
@@legomxstudios I don’t know how long until I actually be able to go on eBay and search, but I’d like to hear your opinions. I like hearing others point of view.
@@selinapersaud7629 that's fine. I'd love to help. Although I first started collecting in 2010 because of it being my birthday, I didn't initially start my legitimate collection until 2021. When I first started buying some of the older items, I went for items that were much cheaper and went for sellers that shipped the quickest. I can link some of the sellers that I buy from in a different comment. Sometimes you have to take a liberty with the condition that they're in, but once you actually have it up and running, it's the best thing ever. I recently just started working at a place not too far from my home and my first paycheck allowed me to buy Duck, who came with S.C.Ruffey and Toad, Harvey, Mavis, Connor, Hiro, Trevor, Donald and Douglas, Bill and Ben, and Skiff
@@selinapersaud7629 originally I started my collection in 2010, when I got 2 of the Misty Island sets for my sixth birthday. I had also got Harvey, Duncan and Diesel 10. In 2012, my family had just come home from Christmas up north in the cabins when I have received a starter set that came with Toby. That was all I had up until 2021 when I picked up the Trackmaster revolutions Thomas, duchess, and Kenji. The same week I also picked up my very first revolution set that came with a talking Percy. About a month after that I ended up getting the really useful engine pack that came with Charlie, Henry, and James. Around the beginning of 2022 I ended up getting Rebecca, Salty, Nia, Emily, Gordon, and Diesel. I turned one of my Thomas's into Timothy the Ghost engine and I turned my first Diesel 10 into Spamcan from The Railway series. Then after I graduated, once I got on eBay I bought a new Toby, Skarloey, Arthur, Dart, Rusty, Victor, Philip and Spencer. I continued to extend my layout and I got Rheneas and Stanley while I worked, but I had lost three family members that summer so it was rough. During my vacation I had bought Caitlin and Harold, and for a while that was it until my 19th birthday this year when I got enough money to buy Rocky, Edward, the brown rebuilt S.C.Ruffey, Flynn and Tidmouth Sheds. And the most recent purchases are the ones I mentioned before.
I was an ERTL kid: mostly because those were the easiest ones for my mum and dad to find lol. But I really liked them too because they were so sturdy and 100% accurate to the characters. Plus, they did book characters like Jock, Neil, Frank and the Culdee Fell engines which I absolutely loved.
I was always annoyed that the tender engines had attached tenders, everyone was so elongated, and that the scaling was ridiculous, so I was more of a wooden railway/Take along kid 😅
14:53 Yeah I know! The knock-off Trackmasters are weirdly very good! I have a few of them. The only one I'm disappointed with is Dodge, who I can't unscrew to give him a battery. Weirdly Splatter didn't have that problem. I also found a Denis with grey wheels and not blue ones. Only for getting a real Denis a week after the 'fake' one came. I honestly think someone from HiT took some of the old tooling and started making brand new Trackmasters that we call 'Knock-offs'.
Thank you! I was waiting for this one. This was one of the videos I watched the most during the most painful part of my recovery earlier this year from surgery.
@@fanofeverything30465 it’s not easy, but with amazing content like this, it’s bearable. It’s just so amazing how discovering old passions makes everything better, even at the worst of times.
A really nice and wonderful collection of Trackmaster/Tomy/Plarail. I remember this rage and the Trackmaster set that I owed for the Risky rails bridge drop set, and since then, I've collected more of the stuff, even the revolution, and motorized same for the Plarail range.
I’ve always had Tomy Thomas toys since I was a child, and as the years went by I ended up getting new ones and more interesting rolling stock, and I now use them to make remakes of Thomas episodes on TikTok.
I grew up with take along/ take n play, and I loved them all dearly until a lost them in a rushed move. How convenient that it coincided with the retirement of the line/revamped to adventures. I resented adventures for that(I’ve thankfully grew out of that) and now I’ve been collecting wooden railway, who was a second to take along.
1:07 Aaa yes I felt that this week about my Angry Birds stuff. Thomas had completely taken over my room and I am still currently searching for my Mattel Angry Birds sets. I mean I even found my Adventures Lexi Tender and didn't find anything from A.B..
Hi unlucky tug. So you might want to know that your arry and Bert models are knockoffs because the normal ones do not have ladders at the front. They used a diesel mold for them so it also copied the Mattel 2009 text so yea just wanted to let you know.
Man, it's genuinely such a shame that Oliver was banned from America after he threatened to kill the President, would've loved to have him as part of Trackmaster
There is technically a paint update for Splatter, but it's a knockoff that uses the same shell as knockoff Arry and Bert, and also has Dodge's face instead of his own.
I remember building a railway with all of my playrail track in the loft of my old house when I was young. It was literally the best railway I made with it. I have the 90s stuff and the newer stuff. All awesome.
I had Tomy/Trackmaster growing up. While I do love and appreciate it, that Wooden Railway franchise was on a whole different level of appeal, even still. Not only was it the perfect size for me, but it was always shown in commercial and you could only get it at Toys R Us and Barnes and Noble. It was forbidden fruit for me and part of me wants to collect but ik it’ll cost and I only want the old stuff
I had a whole Plarail collection as a kid. But sadly I don't have it anymore. Plarail/Tomy or trackmaster is my favorite and nostalgic merch I ever I had
I'm so old that when I was kid and was collecting and playing with Thomas toys, the main thing was those metal die-cast models from ERTL. I still say they're the best Thomas merch that was ever done (super expensive train sets etc aside anyway.) I got a decent but incomplete collection. Thinking of trying to get more to get it nearer completion. Good ideas for Christmas presents as people often don't know what to get me. Can say same thing about the Jurassic Park figures made by Kenner.
14:35 That's because it is. The original Trackmaster 'Arry and Bert toys never had step ladders on the sides of them (as well as in the TV show), while the knockoffs clearly do have them. Basically the knockoff models were just reused from Diesel.
you could always get the Thomas that came with the Chinese dragon and swap it with the plarail one. That one has a painted face of the 90s sculpt, which I think looks better lol
im so used to james’ giant pupils that i specifically seek out the james models with them so it doesnt look off (some ive seen on ebay have smaller pupils )
When I got to my teens and my engineering era of my life I took a broken phone charger and wired it up to one of this and the wheels just when mad due to a voltage that was over 20 times higher

Plarail/Trackmaster is the GOAT of Thomas merchandise!
I grew up experiencing the darker blue Tomy Trains. They had a Thomas range too but not nearly as extensive. Thomas aside, that stuff was awesome and really well made. Clever features too like reversing, and trackside novelties.
No Way , Plairal/Trackmaster has been my favorite merchandise for a long time.
They should make Daisy, Derek and the nameless diesel for “Bowled out”.
And some RWS characters too.
Would love to see glynn, neil, a re-release of Oliver, Donald, and Douglas, and Samson
really glad this one's back up
Plarail and Trackmaster still fascinate my brain more than anything and watching these videos make me so happy
Why don't you put that rubbing alcohol on Diesel and Spencer's noses? Love that plarail❤
I remember having Trackmaster as a child so much so that I even had a whole railway in the living room
Same here. I'd have a whole twisty turny mess
As far as the visually impaired is concerned, I'm not sure how to help you but... I can help with choosing specific characters.
@@legomxstudios you seem really nice. How long have you been into collecting?
This video got me into collecting Plarail
It’s hilarious that such a nothing character like Porter marked the end of both good Trackmaster and good Take-n-Play merch.
Thomas took up 5:22 of the video just goes to show how legendary he is as a character
Nice collection tug. I'd love to see an update to this one day
Yes hooray it’s back! I love this video so much, it’s what got me to start collecting Plarail and I’m so happy I can watch it again! :D
I wish I could have track master Duncan sir Handel and Peter Sam
14:53 Yeah I know! The knock-off Trackmasters are weirdly very good! I have a few of them. The only one I'm disappointed with is Dodge, who I can't unscrew to give him a battery. Weirdly Splatter didn't have that problem.
I also found a Denis with grey wheels and not blue ones. Only for getting a real Denis a week after the 'fake' one came.
I honestly think someone from HiT took some of the old tooling and started making brand new Trackmasters that we call 'Knock-offs'.
We're missing one more Thomas in the lineup…. “Can you see fish” Thomas.
"Here's james!" Never gets old
Close Shave Duck does an awesome cosplay of Santa Claus
I sure eBay still has Sodor lumber yard and Molly and Percy diesel and the rest
STATIC SIDERODS!!!
Your Plarail collection is very impressive Nic!!
Plarail is still the best Thomas merchandise
Thank you! I was waiting for this one. This was one of the videos I watched the most during the most painful part of my recovery earlier this year from surgery.
I wish for trackmaster train set of action canyon risky rail bridge drop avalanche escape
Get well soon 😊
@@fanofeverything30465 it’s not easy, but with amazing content like this, it’s bearable. It’s just so amazing how discovering old passions makes everything better, even at the worst of times.
@@vanessasandoval96 the first two were really amazing sets, and I saw partial reviews of them.
@@selinapersaud7629 Well I hope you make a full recovery 🙏🏼
I've watched this video more times than Diesal has come back to the island😂
I had both Take-Along and Wooden Railway growing up and I wish I still had them
Now I know why Plarail Oliver is so ridiculously overpriced online.
Why?
@@Sudriantank743 watch 11:32 for that.
33:52 I hope Mattel doesn’t get any ideas from this.
A really nice and wonderful collection of Trackmaster/Tomy/Plarail.
I remember this rage and the Trackmaster set that I owed for the Risky rails bridge drop set, and since then, I've collected more of the stuff, even the revolution, and motorized same for the Plarail range.
I feel bad about your main channel getting terminated.
Trackmaster/Plarail is one of the most nostalgic toy lines yet.
I’ve always had Tomy Thomas toys since I was a child, and as the years went by I ended up getting new ones and more interesting rolling stock, and I now use them to make remakes of Thomas episodes on TikTok.
The best video is back bro! W
I personally like ertl, but I can’t deny I love plarail/tomy Thomas line. Ertl still reigns supreme.
This is one of my favorite videos of yours
I grew up with take along/ take n play, and I loved them all dearly until a lost them in a rushed move. How convenient that it coincided with the retirement of the line/revamped to adventures. I resented adventures for that(I’ve thankfully grew out of that) and now I’ve been collecting wooden railway, who was a second to take along.
Amazing Thomas Trackmaster collection! Great video!
1:07 Aaa yes I felt that this week about my Angry Birds stuff. Thomas had completely taken over my room and I am still currently searching for my Mattel Angry Birds sets. I mean I even found my Adventures Lexi Tender and didn't find anything from A.B..
This is one of my favorite videos from your channel!!
Would love to see you make a huge Plarail layout! Dope collection video.
Hi unlucky tug. So you might want to know that your arry and Bert models are knockoffs because the normal ones do not have ladders at the front. They used a diesel mold for them so it also copied the Mattel 2009 text so yea just wanted to let you know.
6:01
i still can't believe you swapped out their siderods, i thought everyone liked them lol
LITTLE BIG PLANET MUSIC?!
33:48 Got me laughing for 15 minutes🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How has this man not written any stories, This man feels like he was a writer for the first five seasons, you should do your own series
I’m so glad this vid is back. Also you’re Toby is actually a pretty rare model in my country
Man, it's genuinely such a shame that Oliver was banned from America after he threatened to kill the President, would've loved to have him as part of Trackmaster
Plarail Cross Thomas: Thomas had never seen such bullsh*t before.
I was always confused by Edwards derpy face as a kid. who looked at that and thought that looked like him?
😮
I had Tomy/Trackmaster growing up. While I do love and appreciate it, that Wooden Railway franchise was on a whole different level of appeal, even still. Not only was it the perfect size for me, but it was always shown in commercial and you could only get it at Toys R
Us and Barnes and Noble.
Wow that's the biggest track master collection I've ever seen
I'm so old that when I was kid and was collecting and playing with Thomas toys, the main thing was those metal die-cast models from ERTL. I still say they're the best Thomas merch that was ever done (super expensive train sets etc aside anyway.)
I got a decent but incomplete collection. Thinking of trying to get more to get it nearer completion. Good ideas for Christmas presents as people often don't know what to get me. Can say same thing about the Jurassic Park figures made by Kenner.
Rewatching this and I am wondering……………
Where is rheneas? 👀
Ah yes my second favourite Tugs collection video is back!
24:59 The Next Year Mattel Redesigned The Whole Line And Made It Economic And Terrible
As a Plarail fan, I would admit I never bought many of the classic Trackmaster sets when I was little having only one
I remember I had at one point combined a Trackmaster Percy and a Molly tender to make a absolute unit of a engine with both of them
Ryan’s face looks like a tellitubby
Here Billy and Charlie,"MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS EVER''!
NOT!!!!!!😂
Also, you should do a DVD collection like the plarail and trackmaster collection.
3:25 I don't know why but I find this custom sad Thomas hilarious. I don't know, to me he just looks funny to me.
14:35 That's because it is. The original Trackmaster 'Arry and Bert toys never had step ladders on the sides of them (as well as in the TV show), while the knockoffs clearly do have them. Basically the knockoff models were just reused from Diesel.
Glad to see this vid back!
I think it’ll be cool if you used the 2015 Gordon side rods for Henry and Gordon
"Train Bertie isn't real, he can't hurt you."
I hope this doesn’t give Mattel any ideas.
you could always get the Thomas that came with the Chinese dragon and swap it with the plarail one. That one has a painted face of the 90s sculpt, which I think looks better lol
I remember getting the coal variant of Spencer from the Times Square Toys R Us in 2011. Such a fun time.
I own Pooh, rainbow Thomas, nose stung James, clown car Toby, close shave duck (2013) Colin, muddy Ferdinand, and buster.
James’ giant pupils make him look blitz on cocaine and I love it
I hate to break it to you, but you have fake arry and Bert the way to tell is that if they have ladders on their side you can see here -> 14:54
The short time where i had all my plarail engines (before i broke every single one of em) was one of the best times of my whole life
im so used to james’ giant pupils that i specifically seek out the james models with them so it doesnt look off (some ive seen on ebay have smaller pupils )
When I got to my teens and my engineering era of my life
I took a broken phone charger and wired it up to one of this and the wheels just when mad due to a voltage that was over 20 times higher
I had Thomas, lady, diesel 10, Edward and Douglas and Donald
I always felt that the tender powered engines would be like Douglas crushing the breakvan
They way he said “infamously” physically hurt me
Don't worry unlucky tug. It's your lucky day. I'm getting a 1990's Tomy Thomas so you don't have to. It's not here, (yet).
What are your plans for the sodor debunked videos?
Amazing collection, Nick!
10:09 can someone pls help me finding this sound effect because I’ve been looking for it for several years now
14:32 That is actually a fake iron arry & Bert cuz they Official ones don't have the Ladders on the sides
Im glad your interest by plarail then others! They have aseomes trains, indeed its fun to check some trains doing there jobs on a big layed layout ❤
The 2014 Trackmaster, even if Mattel is to blame for cut cost, was dog water, but at least Plarail understood about quality.
Yeah I hate you Mattel and I like hit entertainment better then Mattel
What does it mean when something is dog water 💧
I'm glad this is back
5:46 makes the face just better
