    Designer here! You did a great job explaining & showing off gameplay in this video! This really helped showcase the strategies & decision-making in this game extremely well

      I think you have done a great job of combining the theme of this game with the mechanisms. I will definitely be looking out for it as a future purchase for our collection.

      @@dreamofempire2114 Thanks! Really went for trying to create a very thematic experience that makes you feel like you're building your own unique amusement park by game's end. Very easy game to teach & learn, and has such amazing whimsical artwork. But gameplay-wise this is closer to a medium-weight design with how puzzly the tile placement is compared to other games and how competitive the emotion tracks & earning income can be. There's some thought to these simple decisions.

      Out of curiosity, did you based the design off of Steam Park? The rules feel so similar

      @@bryannothem1505 Hi Bryan! Actually never played Steam Park and didn't know too much about it other than rolling dice in real-time. The main inspiration (where most amusement park games I'm sure come from including Steam Park probably) was Roller Coaster Tycoon for the PC.

    Long time subscriber here that misses the full play throughs. I understand why you don't do them anymore. This was a perfect compromise though. Love seeing the game end. I hope you decide to go with this style more often. I can imagine not explaining your actions and messing with the camera angles saves a lot of time and energy during that fast forward phase.

    I always appreciate the thorough way you approach your teach and play throughs. I pretty much love everything about this game,especially the attention to detail on the artwork and the overall look of the game.

    The art is absolutely incredible. And this game seem packed full of tough choices since you don't just get points for everything you build like we see in so many other games. You have to decide if that money is worth more to you in purchasing attractions for later or pending now for that ad revenue points. Great design and awesome playthrough!

    Awesome play through as usual, and exactly why I come to you first whenever a new game comes out. Love the theme, the art, and the light ruleset for this game that previously was definitely not on my radar. Will be a good one to play and teach to those who may have less experience with worker placement mechanics I think. I will be buying this one tomorrow thanks to this video, and I know they have it in stock at my FLGS! Keep up the great work! 👍

    Thanks for the playthrough, Jon. You're doing a great job for the community. This seems to be right up my alley, although it's quite expensive for the weight of this game and not very different from Patchwork and other polyomino games. It's good quality though and I saw it has a solo mode as well. Not sure yet if I'm gonna buy this one.

    This game was not on my radar, but Im happy I checked it out. This seems like a good weight game for me, while being not too long, and it incorporates a couple different mechanics Id like (wp & tile laying). Im hoping I can try this out on tabletopia & Im really hoping the solo mode for this is fun and good, so if anyone has details on that please let me know. Thanks for the playthrough Jon! :]

    In the section on Tile Placement Rules, there is actually a third way to place Dino Adventures on your board. In the location you did ultimately place it, you could have rotated it a quarter turn to run vertically instead of horizontally. You would have still gotten the Joy bonus, but would have minimized any future problems with adjacent placement. In that position, the trees above and below make convenient buffers.
    This would have interfered with your later placement of the T Shirt stand, though. Placing Dino Adventure the other way would have rendered the tile on which the T Shirt stand was placed as an orthogonal placement.

  • @JonGetsGames
    @JonGetsGames  2 года назад

    CORRECTIONS:
    36:54 - I accidentally consolidated 6 points down into 5, which cost the Red player 1 point total.
    46:33 - Yellow forgot to slide their token backwards once when taking the $3 benefit.

    This game looks like something I'd like. The only thing holding me back is the limited 15 actions per player (slightly more if you get the extra worker) in a game. I usually like things to be a bit more "epic". I'm looking at this game or Funfair, and wondering which I might like better, if I should get one over the other, or maybe just get both?
    Any chance of an expansion for this game?

    Hey Jon - great job as usual!! Using BGG complexity scale as a reference (1-5) what complexity rating would give the game ?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 года назад

      I never really use the BGG complexity scale, so I don't think I can give you a good idea. I have also never really played it for reals, this was a highly doctored play where I was competing against different versions of my self.

  • @lynette4119

    Potentially interesting take on a Bärenpark-style tile puzzle system. I wonder if this will have enough variety to stay interesting over multiple plays. For this play, I wonder if it would have been better for us as the purple player to focus on smaller attractions, tree clearing and efficient placement in order to score the bonus and save money and actions on the extra boards.
    36:54 looks like you swap 6 VPs for a 5VP chip for the red player
    46:37 should yellow still move back one on the track to take the money?

  • @BrianD0313
    @BrianD0313 2 года назад

    I don't get why the last person to move up the track and cause a tie ends up being in first place. Usually ties go to the first person to move up in many other games.

    I think you constrained yourself by fitting those big pieces up against the left side. If you played at least one of them a bit away from the side, you could have had a play at the beginning of the third month. It seemed a good short term fit but it was a poor medium term fit. Cute game, though. Mimics some mechanisms of some more complex games but in a pretty accessible way to pull in some non gamers, I would think.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, I agree about constraining myself. This was my first time playing the game and I think I fell into some early blunders that hurt me in the long run.

    Hmm... I don't like the placement rules. It results in not very nice looking parks. In games like this, I want my parky layout to be enjoyable to look at. I guess the empty space represents paths and such, but even so.
    It's weird that this bothers me so much, honestly, but it does!

  • @Jezhumberston

    Interesting limited turns game, some of the private end game scoring cards are a little unbalanced. The one you had with 'remove 6 trees to earn 3VP' was awful. With only 15 goes (not including potential extra workers), you would have to have wasted 3 goes to earn 3VP, where as your opponent with the 'do not remove more than 4 trees to earn 3VP' had it far far easier... don't waste any goes to earn 3VP. Could swing a tight game, plus those extra 3 turns your opponent would have earned even more points towards their end game score.

    The name of the game almost had me not even glance at the video. Just sounds really cheesy. Watching a bit, I'm warming up to it. We'll see how I feel by the end of the video...

  • @barrymccardle7075
    @barrymccardle7075 2 года назад

    Love your videos and style. But I just want to say: stop touching everything when you point to something as you keep moving stuff about. It’s really annoying. Also, you have to fix the auto focus on the camera. Every time you point to something it starts to focus on your hand which leaves what you’re pointing at really blurry.

    • @Avyncentia
      @Avyncentia 2 года назад

      I like the way he physically points out the components. I think it helps solidify what he's talking about.
