I love my Meze 99's! They are a bit bassy, but I do listen to them every now and then. I'm glad to see these are still getting used.
I'm here to listen to that laid back intro once again. As a matter of fact, over and over again 😎 always gets me
what you didn't portray though, is how easy they are to listen to for long periods without fatigue. it's smooth and relaxing. i listen to mine through a astell kern dac. game changer.
Meze 99. Awesome headphone 🎧. Still own one.
I think part of the reason it has lasting power, is that there isn't many good lower budget closed backs
Had these before, quite warm and relaxing, however the bass was bloated and pillowy like something you get from old Beats or Skullcandy. Very comfortable and easy to drive though.
I love Meze.
I have the Meze 109 pro as an open back and the Dan Clark Noire 2 Closed back. Can recommend both, but Meze is just Meze.
It was too bassy for me. Other wise very good built headphones
I thini the fact that you don't have a closed back competitor for these says something about how good they are.
It's rather that there aren't very many good closed backs. Closed backs are extremely difficult to get right. The Meze 99 Classics themselves come with their own fair share of issues too. Closed backs are all about compromises. You just gotta find the one that compromises in a way that bothers you the least.
I love my 99 Classics and found them a great addition to my stable of headphones. The bass can be easily tamed with a Loki type EQ when wanted. Great Review! 👍
I've owned these for years great headphone for closed back and are beautiful !
I will add that the Meze years ago collaborated with Drop to release the 99 Noir which is the same as the Classics except that the earcups are stained to have a darker color and the case has a different texture. The tuning of the Noir is also the same as the Classics, it runs for $200 except when it goes on sale for $180 which it often does; a bargain if you ask me. One tip, If you swap the ear pads for hybrid ones the sound becomes a little more balanced, the bass is a little less overpowering and vocals or the highs become more present. They are my favorite pair.
From where can the hybrid earpads be ordered?
Which hybrid pads are you using?
@TheWorldTeacher Im pretty sure he got the brainwavz hybrid pads
@@mindhead1 brainwavz pads
Thank you for this review.Honest opinion about an amazing product.
I enjoy metal music on them. Slipknot is a lot of fun on the 99's.
These sound like the MDR-Z1R without the steroids.
Hi. Currently on the lookout for headphones replacement for my DT770 80Ohm. I am using zen ifi dac amp v2 with them, but for me, the bass is lacking even after 3 years of use - despite a lot of people claiming otherwise.
So I'm considering either Meze 99 Noirs, or V-Moda crossfade M-100 Master. Not sure which I should pick, being a basshead
Try the noirs with soft very comfortable pads in the box
I had the M100 w/ XL pads for about 10 years. Great bass headphone. Great headphone overall, but the XL pads were a must for comfort and SQ. I gave them to my son about 3 years ago and he still uses them. Mostly for gaming. He attached a mic to it.
That said, the Meze 99 are an excellent option as well, but don’t have the sub bass of the M100. I don’t know if the M100 Master sound similar to the OG M100.
@@mindhead1 I read some reviews about the Masters and people did point out that Vmoda tamed the bass a bit compared to the old ones. Appreciate your reply, I'm already waiting for the noirs. If they disappoint me, I'll try the m100
I just closed the video when you started to compare a closed back with open backs
The real question is...gold or silver?
I thought for sure those were gonna be 1k or more.
Thanks for the review. Do you know if on the package box he says “Prop 65” ?
Appreciate it!
The pre-revision sets are shit. Total and utter shit. I wasted $350 5 years ago and I’m still mad about it.
I just opened my box. First song Depeche Mode "Walking in my shoes" then Alice in Chains "Would." Both sucked. Jabra ear-pods are FAR BETTER! VERY DISAPPOINTED.
I just can not understand, how to trust reviews after all this Meze 99’s hype.
These cans are garbage for the money!
I own Beyers pro x 700s, also Sennheiser Momentum 3s and I got a chance to listen to Mezes for several days. Mezes suck to both wired and wireless. They sound just cheep and muddy.
They look good never the less. But Beyers feel better build quality.
