    Hello, I really enjoyed the review
    I was going to buy Lyric 1, but I'm waiting for the release of 2 in Korea. Is there a lot of improvement in 2 compared to 1 and 2? If there is no significant change compared to 1, I'm going to buy 1

    My measure for playback quality ("high fidelity") is listening to classical orchestral music, where I have some experience listening to the real thing. Out of all headphones and IEMs that I own, the DCA E3 comes closest to replicating the experience. With great recordings they can be scarily realistic.

      E3 is pretty dope. I want to do a video about it and the Expanse + Stealth -- I think the E3 is hands-down better.

    Yo Mark thanks for the comparison! I was looking at both liric 2 and e3 as recommendations for my case but I'd love to get your opinion here.
    For my use case I am using wa7 3rd gen (not the most powerful amp), and I mostly listen to pop, r&b etc.. (say "the weekend" and alike).
    For when I am not using my arya oganic I need closed back to meet best my needs above, should I go with the liric 2 in my case?
    I also plan to take it with me for travels so I would appreciate the portability and ease to drive.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  2 месяца назад

      I don't think music genre matters. The Liric 2 is a bit easier to drive but both require most of the power my MacBook can provide. But also... both can run on my MacBook. So probably both with be fine for you on the same sources.
      I prefer th E3 significantly on sound.

    Hey there. So the Liric 2 is more "fun" than the E3 but how is the fun factor for the radiance compared to the Liric 2?

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  6 месяцев назад

      Radiance has similar bass emphasis to the Liric and is generally more aggressive than the E3. I think the Liric does it better so it's more fun for me.

    I have the DCA E3 and I am fascinated by it. The E3 is the king of closed back headphones regarding all aspects of music reproduction, but really amazes me with the soundstage. It is by far the widest of any other closed back and many open backs in my collection.
    My collection favorites:
    Open Back Planar: HE-1000 Stealth
    Closed Back Planar: DCA E3
    Open Back Dynamic: Meze 109 Pro
    Closed Back Dynamic: Focal Celestee (Not the best comfort for me, but sounds good. The DT 770 Pro is more comfortable, but doesn’t sound as good.)
    Wireless: ML No 5909 (The Swiss Army knife of headphones, it sounds better on a single ended wired connection than it does on BT and that is saying a lot. If I could only have one headphone, this would be the it. At 32 ohms, it can run on any source.)

      @@ornobislam5106 I have never heard the Denon D9200, but I have in my collection the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro and the DCA ÆON 2 Noire closed backs and they do not come close to the E3 in all aspects.

      How would you compare the HE1000 stealth to the E3? I currently have the Arya organic which I've heard is broadly similar sounding to the HE1000 stealth and I'm considering getting the E3 to replace the organic. I wear these at work and the open back is distracting with noise around the office so I want a closed back but don't want to lose the great sound of the open back. I heard the liric 2 and E3 are pretty good as far as closed back go so wondering your personal impression between the E3 and se1000 stealth.
      For reference, I love the bass on the organic and although my favorite thing about hifiman is the bright crispy highs, I felt the highs on the organic had just a tad bit too much sibilance and too piercing. I found my older Sundaras a bit smoother and easier to listen to in regards to the higher frequencies.
      How would you compare the bass and highs of he1000 stealth and E3?

      @@fredthebulldog529
      Wow, really putting me on the spot here with the nitty gritty. The HE1000 Stealth and the E3 are vastly different in some ways, but so close in other ways. To really pin point the differences in a side by side comparison I am using two different DAC/Amp combos on my desk top setup (I work from home). One is a VMV D1se DAC and A70pro amp on one PC and the other PC has a EF400 DAC/amp combo. I have listened to the same tracks on both, volume matched (as best I could by ear) and switched between the setups. Both headphones are active which makes switching between them easier.
      After testing it is apparent that the HE1000 Stealth is the superior of the E3 (no surprise), but it is very close and really only detectable in side-by-side testing. The Stealth has a wider sound stage (as you would suspect), but I think the biggest delta in the sound stage is the depth. The E3 is more intimate here, with the audio more in your face, but it has a decent sound stage, even surprising for a closed back.
      Both headphones have decent bass and percussion pop, but HE1000 outshines just a little bit here as well because it is a more detailed headphone. The same is true throughout the spectrum.
      In an office "cube" environment everyone can hear the open back and you will hear outside noise as well. The E3 really beats it because of its closed nature; it is very isolating. You can lay the E3 down and the design allows the cups to seal and makes it very quiet. The put down Stealth is still parting on and you can hear it from a distance.
      In a public setting I would have no issue grabbing the E3 and I would enjoy it's output immensely. In a more isolated environment I would use the HE1000 Stealth, HD800S, or HD600 depending on what I was listening to.
      For long listening sessions I prefer the Stealth because the airiness of it makes it a bit cooler, but I have worn the E3 for 8 hours at a time with no issue.
      In summary, they are both exceptional headphones and differences are more minor than this suggests due to the side by side testing. I standby my comment about the E3 being as close to a open back planar as you can get (today).
      Hope this helps and if you get the E3 let me us know how you like it.

      @@jeffjacobs1503 You are truly a rockstar. I really appreciate the time you took on writing that detailed and insightful response. You should start your own RUclips review channel 😛Can I bother you for on more question - How would you compare the brightness, crispness, detail, and balance (between the highs, mids, lows) of the E3 vs. the HE1000 Stealth? The outstanding clarity, detail, and brightness of the Arya Organic (which many reviews said is quite similar to the HE1000 Stealth), especially between the 5k-8k range. If the E3 is on a similar level, then I think I'm going to order them and give it a try because it sounds like they could be just what I'm looking for.
      Oh....one more quicky question (I know, overstaying my welcome), have you ever listened to the Meze Liric/Liric II? Those were the other options I was considering and both are rated very highly so wondering if you have any opinion on those.

    Curious, you described the Radiance as being v-shaped even though it sounds shouty to me and you like your treble. Is that with the added material inside or in stock form? Has to be with the material right?

    • @Silverjerk
      @Silverjerk 6 месяцев назад +1

      I would assume so, as those kinds of filters are generally used for that purpose. I EQ’d the Radiance to tame some of the highs and upper mids, and EQ’d it’s probably my favorite closed back set under $2k. For my money it beats the Stellia and Celeste, by a pretty large margin. Great set with a lot of headroom for dialing in.

      Probably 5. Ive heard it myself, and its pretty awesome sounding as far as how enjoyable it is. I dont love the looks (and that hideous logo) but sound and mostly comfort wise theyre just one of the best things anyone can buy unless youre the kind of listener looking for the most "natural" timbre and detail in the world, then try things like the Caldera or Susvara or something.

    Sorry but calling this a review sure is a stretch when reviewing a flagship $2000 closed back headphone & using a MacBook.
    Also bringing in a Focal Radiance to compare is also unwise as that headphone has been discontinued for over 6 months now.
