  • Meze sent me the the Liric 2 headphones for review. I tested them out of everything from my computer directly up to high-end audio gear. Are these the best high-end portable headphones you can buy?

I have been using Backblaze’s unlimited cloud backup to protect all my data - terabytes of it - for a flat monthly or yearly fee, for years. I highly recommend them as a backup solution.

You want to know something Amos, a good indicator of knowing while watching a video, that the person knows deeply what they are talking about, is that while I watch this review I find myself nodding all the way through it at your bite sized lessons of how this stuff works and how to get it to work well. Another good video my man.

Very balanced review as always. I appreciate your matter of fact way of presenting things. Too many reviewers are biased from the get go.

I like the look of this new one, I felt the first one was too toned down for headphone of that price from Meze of all companies. Thanks for the review man.

It would be interesting if you also used the chord mojo 2 eq in your slam video. To compare the Quality and quantity of base from the two devices.

Hope you get the Yamahas in soon... They are VERY impressive (and demanding) headphones imo

Somewhat related, the Audeze Maxwell has a very good tuning. Planar and closed back.
    Very good for Bluetooth.

Great review! I guess I will pass this Liric 2 and wait for the new Stellia. Everything is perfect on my E3 but it is too hard to drive on portable DAPs. I still can't find a better DAP that sound as good as Chord hugo 2, fit into the pocket and take on the go.

Hello, I really enjoyed the review
I was going to buy Lyric 1, but I'm waiting for the release of 2 in Korea. Is there a lot of improvement in 2 compared to 1 and 2? If there is no significant change compared to 1, I'm going to buy 1

Not sure about what u mean when you are saying "that these can't slam".
I don't own Liric 2, but I do own the first edition. Which I can ensure you that I managed to make them slam. The bass and the sub is out of this world if you tune them correctly with parametric EQ. Which I did on my RME adi-2fs dac. So if the first edition can manage this, then I would be very surprised if the second one could not manage to do this.
With EQ, Liric 1 is like strapping a sub-bass to your head. And the bass sounds nicely layered. There are some weird frequencies that needs to be tamed down a little, first with parametric EQ, then you can bring the entire channel up again with a second EQ. Which is where the headphone soundstage will broaden up and sound clearer to also making it possible to add desired level of bass to them. All the way up til the bass is literally "slamming"

How do they sound vs. the original Empyrean? (I've had one for years and have always liked it, but want a closed headphone.) Thank you.

Thanks for this but saying Dead Can Dance do not have great production value was a poor generalisation.

By crowded did you mean the soundstage collapse, or the soundstage is small to begin with and with more instruments it became crowded?

    • @Currawong
      @Currawong  4 месяца назад +1

With more instruments and louder volumes the sound becomes crowded, as it was most noticeable to me only in comparison with other headphones.
