      +SnowDoggyD the only thing adorable about a Indian Myna is when it takes it's last breath.

    • @lass-inangeles7564
      @lass-inangeles7564 8 лет назад +12

      +SnowDoggyD I agree! Too cute for words. Smart little guys. I had a wild baby sparrow I was rehabbing, Poor thing had Avian pox, but I cured this deadly disease. Well, this little girl sat on my shoulder chirping happily every morning, and I could take her anywhere she would not leave my shoulder. Adorable thing! Finally made her home in my garden. If I had given her to the wildlife people they would have killed her off as an unwanted pest species. While this is true of many animals, its impossible to do if you get to know one personally. My little Jillie-bird (Jill Sparrow after Capt Jack Sparrow) had such a cheerful disposition. And what the heck, everyone deserves a chance to live their life. Everyone!

    • @Quest1989
      @Quest1989 8 лет назад

      +Lass-in Angeles why did she always sit on your shoulder? This bird didn't want to fly as birds usually do?
      And for further reference, here is something written by bird lovers and bird experts explaining Common (Indian) Myna in U.S.A. www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/common-myna

    • @Quest1989
      @Quest1989 8 лет назад

      Lass-in Angeles
      how did you know you had cured the Avian Pox? How did you stop the Avian Pox from spreading to other birds in your home state?

    • @Quest1989
      @Quest1989 8 лет назад

      +Lass-in Angeles when you say you cured Avarian Pox, how did you ensure mosquitoes never transferred this deadly disease to other birds? You claim to be one who is kind to life, I'd love to know what you did to halt the transfer of such a deadly and easily transmittable disease to the wild bird population where you live in California. Please explain so the bird lovers here can understand.

    Thanks heaps for the encouragement Jan! You are correct about vets not often being asked by their patients "What's wrong?". Around Sydney most people regard Indian Mynahs as feral pests. However, when given the opportunity to be loved and allowed to free fly within a home they can be fascinating intelligent pets. Brittany has an extensive vocabulary! Give me thumbs up when you like my videos! How about honouring yourself with a lovely pen-name, for you are an Embodiment of Love!

      My GOSH!! I just couldn’t imagine these AMAZING birds being looked at as feral pests! But.. I know that in those countries where monkeys are all over the place.. locals HATE them and even call them tree rats etc.. So I guess if it’s a creature that’s EVERYWHERE around where you live.. they’d be some what of a nuisance But.. Ugh! I mean, we definitely don’t have them in the US but.. I’d just LOVE to get one as a chick or hatchling? Whatever you’d called it.. and teach it to talk from a young age (which I’ve heard they are best taught) and end up having the coolest bird in the world!

      +Ross Perry may be a great doctor but I suspect he has no care for biodiversity of species. Learn your facts about the damage these birds do to countless numbers of other species. Are you aware they even are systematically removing Kookaburra's from areas they have lived in for millions of years? How do you feel about that?

    • @Quest1989
      @Quest1989 8 лет назад

      +Amanda Therrien that is a rather simple way to look at things. How do you feel about the damage these birds have done to the Kookaburra population in my area? Or you know nothing you just go off your feelings and don't care if this aggressive Indian Myna pest bird eliminates 50 other species just so it can be the only bird who survives?

    • @Quest1989
      @Quest1989 8 лет назад

      +Amanda Therrien what is more important? the way you, one individual feels, or the way in which these birds kill every single Sugar Glider they can find. Do you like Sugar Gliders or you don't know what they are because you choose to know nothing about bird life.

    Bluebutterfly. They need a low iron diet as you apparently realise. You will probably have to prepare one yourself. You can contact various zoos for their low iron recipes for toucans and other species requiring such diets and adapt them to your bird's needs.

    I am very very aware of the pest status of Indian Mynas in Australia, hence this post showing that they can also become amazing pets if captured or rescued as fledglings. It is what we have done in the past as well as the present that provides the opportunities for them to be like pests. I intend to find solutions to their population control that do not involve poisoning and trapping them. I know this can be done, and can be done remotely, probably using a combination of quantum and invocation

      Ross Perry i rescued and raised a myna bird when i was younger, i taught it how to fly, it was beautiful. I had so many people get mad at me and tell me i should have killed it. We created the pest problem, its not the bird's fault and they shouldn't be punished for our mistakes and mismanagement.

      We have the same issue with European starlings here in the U.S. but they also make absolutely wonderful pets and are a net zero as far as nature is concerned when they fall from a nest. I love my little starling with my soul and I just know I'd wind up with one of these fascinating guys for the same reason if I was an Aussie. My dad had a pet mynah bird when I was young, sadly one day my dad found him dead in his cage, we were never quite sure what the cause was as it happened so suddenly with seemingly no visible symptoms of illness. It was a real pity that he died, José was quite the lovely critter, my sister and I loved the way he'd hop around when on the floor, and he was friendly/gentle enough where he could sit on arms or be petted here and there.

    I love how you handle the birds that come in to your care Ross. And it is so very true how you can transfer calmness, and that you mean no harm to the bird through your hands. As you probably know, I have been working with avian rescue, rehab, healing etc for almost 25 years, and constantly still learning. I have taken so much from your videos and put things that you share in to practice, especially the handling side. The handling is in my mind the first and probably most important part of the first aid bestowed upon a bird, especially a wild bird who would naturally see us as a predator. Poor handling could push the bird over the edge and cause it's demise, their little hearts can only take so much terror and stress can't they. I, because of your videos, consciously send that feeling of calm and peace through my hands to the little victim lying within them now, and if you mean it, it most certainly does work.

      I reduced my consulting load seriously back in 2006 on spiritual internal advice and slowed down and have since continued to see birds but much less dogs and cats. However, I am at a point in my life where I need to see more than I have been. I am now consulting by appointment from Breathe Beauty and Life, Suite 8, Level 1, 41-43 Commercial Rd, Murwillumbah 2484, 0419693279, My email is still drrossperry1@gmail.com. I miss many of my patients and custodians in Sydney but have adjusted to the lifestyle up here and am likely only to visit Sydney rather than move back! Where are you based now?

      +Ross Perry I’m still in Westside USA. But u were always my fav vet! Now I’m getting famous as a celebirdie online. Do u still want referrals? Cuz we used to tell peeps to find u and stuff. I miss our chats... sorry I’m such a potty mouthed birdie but I just came all #ThugLife. I now realize I probably gave a lot of u gets a run for ur money. 😂🙈 I used to be so horrible! But I’ve come a LOOOONG way! Momager has been so patient. I now get daily music & language & culture lessons, which I love. Learning about new types of music has been therapeutic for me, cuz before I only knew about Gangsta rap. I also have since stopped swearing at grandma, & taken up swearing at the ice cream man when he rolls up in my hood w/bad music. 😜✊🏾 And working on making bra swinging an Olympic sport & helping Alzheimer’s awareness on my new Twitter.
      Also I’m celebrating my bday on Twitter/youtube 8/20 & momager has BIG plans so fans can participate. Prizes & shout outs & see me open gifts.

      +Tupeck the Rapping Parrot my Twitter is @TupeckParrot (also on RUclips now as of last week! The peeps like me but I still need to grow my fan base). So we made this amazon wishlist for my bday party & will open gifts live if fans send stuff to my new PO Box. We’ll also do product reviews! So momager’s putting in tons of effort in my career... she gave up sayin no to me being a rapstar finally. Lol. U remember those days Ross! 😂🙈 My Bday Wishlist: www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/38TYFP2KPICMV
      A couple prizes for fans too. We should give u a shout out as a good friend, so come by & say hi on 8/20 when we start live! Lil Homie says hi too & misses u! ❤️

    Love this, and your attitude about mynahs in general! They really are ridiculously intelligent (and sassy!) and they make awesome pets. It's nice seeing someone local recognise that, because nearly everything Australian on them is about how awful they are. Out in the wild, sure, they're a problem, but it's not their fault they're here, and people overlook how funny and clever they are and how much personality they have as individuals.
    My little guy is about six months old and starting to talk. Their range of expressions is phenomenal... even in the wild they have a wide variety of calls.

    Hi! I saw your many youtube videos. it's beautiful watching your interaction with birds. I have an Indian Mynah bird, he is suffering from Impacted Uropygial gland, so he feeds not as good as before, always sits on the base of the cage. I need your valuable opinion and how to rescue her, prevent the further occurrence and if you share your knowlege about the caring of Indian Mynah bird then i will be grateful to you always.

      Hello Sabyaachi. I am registered as a bird specialist and also care for other pets as a holistic vets. Please privately message me in Skype DoctorRossPerry or email drrossperry1@gmail.com and I will
      explain the terms and conditions. You may contact me @ 0419693279 for your appointment.
      To help you and your Mynah bird I either need to physically examine him as a vet or to work remotely as a scientific dowser. The legal situation for vets is: Remote bird health advice and help
      Veterinary Law internationally and locally makes it illegal for vets to give advice without having physically examined the animal recently and /or without being asked for another opinion by a vet who has done so.
      Perhaps you can ask your vet for a referral to me to explore holistic options for helping your bird(s)? or I can take my veterinary hat off and work as a scientific dowser using a series of charts I have created including diseases, drugs, body parts etc of people and a range of animals including dogs, birds and remotely tune into your bird's quantum energy field and evaluate answers on an exponential scale from 0 to positive 180 and 0 to negative 180 re status, wisdom, vitality etc. This work costs $70 for up to first 15 minutes with the
      first 15 minutes pre=paid, payable to drrossperry1@gmail.com via paypal or direct transfer to Perrecca P/L NAB Bank BSB 082330 account number 516897373 and thereafter $65/15 minutes or part thereof. I can also do transformative invocations and evaluate the almost immediate changes that occur with many of the above parameters. The wisdom of giving various drugs, remedies and courses of action can also be evaluated. None of this work is a veterinary diagnosis, veterinary advice or veterinary treatment. It is a remote reading of probabilities and possibilities as determined by scientific dowsing. I would anticipate 30-60 minutes work for
      full work up etc. tho you/we should have a good idea of probabilities and possibilities in first 15 minutes. You can Skype video call DoctorRossPerry while I m doing it and I provide a summary print out of key findings within the time available.
      Let me know your bird's name and send me at least one preferably more macro photos and/or videos of aspects of your bird and a detailed history of veterinary care so far if at all possible if you want to proceed.
      Blessings, Ross Perry
      Get veterinary help or get your vet to contact me for help if needed,
      otherwise as you have exhausted my free help bucket with many questions already freely answered,
      do what others do when they want my advice and transfer payment by paypal as explained in previous
      communications. tx.
      If you would like to get a copy of my books
      please visit my website www.goldcoastbirdvet.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html! I think it would help you caring your birds and guide you as well.

    These birds are destructive to native birds, but... years ago someone showed me an Indian Mynah whose nest had been destroyed and the chick that was being eaten alive by ants. I couldn't do nothing, so I took up this little bundle with its eyes barely open and went to the pet shop for advice. They said to feed it meal worms. The chick grew and was affectionate, it followed me like a puppy. But meal worms don't have calcium. That poor bird died from infections from broken bones. Always get advice

    Very different from the Indian Mynahs that we have in Sydney. Ours have yellow skin around their eyes and yellower claws.

    • @Quest1989
      @Quest1989 8 лет назад

      +Vertical Smurf there is an Australian Myna, known as Noisy Myna also. Sounds as though you may be describing this bird?

    • @verticalsmurf
      @verticalsmurf 8 лет назад

      +Quest1989 - We have Noisy Mynas and they earned the name. They are smaller, mostly grey but the resemblance is there and they sound like chainsaws. They are predated on by the Indian Myna. But Myna birds do look different depending where you go. They are slimmer near the coast and bigger out west. Evolution I guess.

    • @Quest1989
      @Quest1989 8 лет назад +1

      +verticalsmurf I live 6km from centre of Melbourne. Indian Mynas almost running the entire neighbourhood, despite a decent variety of native birds. That is only because there is a good green wedge near by with the Yarra, and 260 hectare Yarra Bend Park which is natural bushland. So only there do the natives still survive in decent numbers. Indian Mynas are of course present in park but don't see too many. Thankfully there are many Noisy Mynas, you see them in groups of 20+ even. But I literally live just 800 metres from there in a heavily urbanised area and I am yet to see 1 Noisy Myna outside the zone of the park. As you say it's the Indian Myna predator that has caused this.
      The Noisy Myna can still thrive in an area where there are lots of trees that form just some type of canopy, even if it is a pretty poor canopy. They are in no way equipped to take on an Indian Myna in a car park or on a street. Indian Myna will ambush from under parked cars, from behind rubbish bins, from roof tops, under bushes they will ambush virtually any bird, or cat, from any position. Always operating with a well positioned look out. They deploy true urban warfare.
      It is very sad. I have Magpies but the Indian Myna are constantly following them in greater numbers. They don't like fighting them so they deploy scavenger or different harassment tactics to drive them out.

    • @premvali86
      @premvali86 8 лет назад

      Vertical Smurf the non yellow usually is an anomaly, or a female, the male's face is yellower and the body is bigger... it's also time added, as the mynah grow

      Quest1989 noisy miners and Indian mynas are completely unrelated! (And spelt differently too) the noisy miner is a honeyeater and the Indian myna is a starling.

    I don't know where you live, but in the US we have European Starlings that are legal to keep, because they are non-native birds. I acquired one a few years ago that a cat had gotten. They are in the mynah bird family and they are great talkers. So, if you can't find a mynah bird, look into a starling.
