@@lll3388 I know she advised against it, but I usually detangle my hair in the shower when it has conditioner. Or I brush it while it's dry right before a shower, with a lil conditioner if its too tangled. As long as you aren't in the wind all day, sweating a whole lot, or rolling around while you sleep, you should be alright. If you do have those problems it might help to tie your hair up. Its difficult to break the routine of brushing your hair every day, but it does get easier.
@@lll3388 wearing it in a protective style while sleeping helps! I usually put my hair in a lil silk wrap for example. That way it doesn't tangle up during sleep.

Maybe detangle in the shower with conditioner and wide tooth comb or with your fingers? Def get the underside with the comb cuz i get the same issue lol
That's odd; most people have the opposite experience. I finally found out that if I don't touch my hair with a comb until it's dry, then the tangles all comb out in 20 seconds and the waves are preserved. It took me 20 MINUTES when wet and it didn't look as wavy. Also, I don't get split ends anymore.
I’ll probably never get a devacut either. Because my waves are SO loose, I can just brush it when it’s wet, put a little oil in it, and I’ll have almost straight hair with just a couple kinks in it. And that’s sorta how I take a “break” from my waves, and just let it be for a few days. And I do it pretty often too. So my hair when it’s straight would be SO uneven and would look like I tried to cut my own layers but failed miserably 😂. I usually just get a normal haircut and it still looks good when I style it wavy!
Same here. My waves are never the same. I cut my hair after blow drying straight. I am trying to grow out layers that only made my hair frizzy and disrupted the wave pattern.
the 1st day I wash my hair it gets kinda straight but as the days go by my hair texture gets really wavy (my hair is straight from the roots and the rest is wavy) idk what to do😭
Hey girl. How do you refresh your hair when you’re not washing it? I have such a hard time with that. Like the way my curls change after sleeping on them, just makes me wanna keep washing my hair.
I'm the same way! I use dry shampoo on non wash days...but my waves definitely get flat when I sleep on them. I think my hair might just be damaged and unhealthy from years of not knowing how to properly care for it.
you might have seen this already by now but she has a video on this (ruclips.net/video/vYenF5iv8e8/видео.html ). Tldr; lightly comb through if needed, spray with water and a protein leave-in conditioner, then scrunch!
Same with waves turning out different each time! Also nice to see another wavy with coloured hair. MIne is bleached at the ends and I love it blonde so I can't give up the highlights.
Thank you for showing how straight bangs look great with wavy/curly hair. My bangs don’t wave or curl but the rest of my hair is wavy. I’m not sure if that is because they are shorter than the rest of my hair, but I have seen endless videos how to have curly bangs and mine don’t actually curl. I also have a very pronounced widows peak so I’ve always had bangs because my hair doesn’t fall right without bangs.
Girl I'm not an English-native speaker but I do know how to speak English, and sometimes I'm glad of that cause I can say things I wanna say. This is one of those situations. I just wanna say you are beautiful, like you really are. That's it 💕 🇦🇷
Thank you so much for the advice. I've been making these mistakes for my whole life. I was born with naturally curly hair but then my hair straightened the more I aged. I finally know how why my baby curls disappeared.
Omg great tips and advice I’m going to give these all a try! I’ve been trying on and off for over a year and get so discouraged because by the time my hair is dry I lose all curl pattern and definition and I started to feel defeated I’m giving these tips a shot because I feel like it could be the mistakes I’ve been making all along!
How do you get rid of “old hair” if you don’t brush your hair? If I don’t brush my hair for a while it gets really frizzy and I will have loose hair on my clothes everywhere..
I have wavy hair but in the past I never really tried to help the curls and I also had a straight cut all around. My hair is very long and the one length I think made my hair heavy and I lost my curl. But a few days ago I got layers and I’m honestly really struggling and getting so frustrated. At first I really liked it, but now I’m seeing how irregular my curl pattern is and the different layers stick out and it looks really messy and it’s upsetting me. I’m gonna try out these tips and if anyone has any tips on how i can better blend in the layers, I’d be so thankful💞
I almost want to cry. This is the first time someone has the same issue as me. Like I used to have dead straight hair when I was young and they kept getting more wavy as I grew. I'm in my twenties now and now literally they have NO identity. If I brush them when theyre wet and brish them very often, they're straight. If I don't theyre properly curly. And sometimes they re beachy. I lived in the desert in the middle east, then on the coast and now in the desert again and my hair are so unpredictable. I'm going to try your techniques and give them a tighter wavy definition because straight is straight, but very frizzy. So hope it works!!!
Have you tried NOT raking? Raking is actually disturbing the clumps your trying to form... there are actual brushes for helping your hair to curl. Wet brushes and flexi-brushes would help you ends curl better...
I have! My hair dries so differently every time it’s hard to measure what is enhancing my curls, the product or the different application technique. I’m currently not raking and my hair is drying the same. I just scrunch the product into my ends and smooth a little on the top to prevent frizz and that’s it! I was thinking the same thing that raking was messing up my curl clumps but it looks the same either way so I don’t think it makes a difference for my waves ☺️
@@melindab I will usually rake in my leave in, and then use the scrunchit brush to make sure its distributed all the way through... I use the scrunchit brush for my creams too. The brush also helps to clump back up anything that scrunching and raking may have broken up. But as soon as I introduce a gel or gel type custard, no more using the brush. All scrunching, roping and prayer hands from there lol
I usually brush my hair in a way where I make its way up and sometimes braid it while it dries up and I noticed my hair doesn’t get as much tangled anymore
My hair get tangled so easily that I feel like I don’t have a choice but to brush it wet. 🥺 If I brush it dry it goes POOF. 😅 Another question that I’ve had for a long time though is how much hair loss is considered normal when shampooing/conditioning etc? I’m always on the fence on how I should wear it because if I don’t brush it, it tangles and I get more hair loss but my waves look better. And then if I do brush it, my waves are looser but with less hair loss. (And I’m not losing a HUGE amount, no bald spots or anything, it’s just a concern for me. I’m trying to fix some breakage.) And recommendations for some VERY light leave in conditioners??? 🖤🖤🖤
Cleo Kreiger hair loss is normal. Hair loss to breakage means there’s some damage and in that case I definitely would not brush it wet. What I would do is gently brush it before your shower. Your hair is more fragile when wet and will snap off. When my hair was long and tangly I’d brush it before my shower and as long as I got it wet again AFTER I brushed it, I still got a tighter curl out of it. You just can’t brush it and then wear it that way. You have to brush it, then wash it gently so you don’t tangle it again and then apply styling products ☺️ try that! 🖤 you also need protein and moisturizing treatments to repair the damage. I’m posting a video soon on how to care for damaged hair
Do NOT use a brush on your hair if it goes frizzy with a brush! Use wide-tooth combs only! It's the same mistake a lot curly-haired people make; someone told them that brushing was a necessity, and it jolly well isn't.
I have super thick, wavy hair that’s waist length. I’m 56, have never blown it dry, used hairspray, or colored it. It’s black, so why bother? I use a bamboo towel on my hair, and the towel is super long. I gently squeeze the water out of my hair in the shower. I use an entire bottle of moisturizing conditioner on my hair and comb it through with a wide toothed comb. I wash my hair once every 3-4 weeks as it’s coarse. I let it air-dry, as it takes 2-3 days to dry. I basically just get a trim every 6 weeks. The odd thing? I have a ton of hair on my head, but zero body hair. I’ve never 🪒 shaved my legs or armpits! Women say, “I would kill for hair like yours.” People often come up to me and say, “Can I touch it?” I let them. My brows grow in thick, so I do have them threaded. I never brush my hair when it’s wet. I feel bad for the girl who trims my hair, as she must sit down near the floor on a stool to trim the ends. I tip her very well. I always keep my hair moisturized. I feel very lucky.🍀
I recently started brushing my hair I the shower and have definitely noticed my waves are stretched out 🙄 definitely not doing that anymore. So glad I found you because we have similar hair type can’t wait for more videos 😁
I brush when my hair is dry before showering and again after I've added my products because it knots up in the shower. I find this helps distribute my products because I have allot of hair, it's waist length. I also use a traditional towel but I don't rub my hair with it. I just put it up in it and gently squeeze it with the towel. I prefer a nice big towel because my hair is so long. I also scrunch when my hair is drying. I scrunch with my hands whilst I diffuse because I just can't get used to just using the diffuser. I've always scrunched with my hands holding the hair up towards the scalp and holding the hair dryer nozzle so it blows into a handful of hair. It gives me really nice curls so I'm still trying to get what the point is in the diffuser?😂😂. I've never heard of a diva cut and I wash every three days because my scalp is oily.
Fascinating. My hair is just a bit curlier than yours, and I have to style it with a denman while wet to get definition. I also won’t ever get a diva cut, because my hair is really dynamic and I do like to heat style my shag cut to look all 70s.
Ok..so first off-ur hair looks great! 2nd-i wish I could not use conditioner or more importantly not brush it when wet. My hair kinks SO BAD. There no chance in hell I wouldn't brush it while it's wet-thats like my only chance of not ripping it apart, esp now that its blonde🤣 I have to use so much detangler too, lol. So happy that I found ogx argan oil of Morocco♡ 3rd-thank u for mentioning the "diva cut". I HATE when stylists try to cut my hair dry. They don't understand that it looks crazy when I straighten it after🤦🏼♀️It makes me so mad, lol. Every1s hair is so unique, and often times we know our hair best, even though we can use some pointers! I need to get me a microfiber hair towel, because I can definitely tell that regular towels frizz and break it. The outer layer of my hair is so frizzy, dry, and such a loose waive, that its almost straight, while the middle and some of the underneath has cute curls, lol. Ive never tried a curl shampoo or any products besides mousse, once in a while, and always wanted straight hair, but now id like to give my naturally wavy/curly hair a real fighting chance, lol. Thanks for the vid girl!
My wavy hair is so frustrating, I can never get it right. I always hop out of the shower, try putting in some products and plopping it or twisting it into a microfiber hair wrap or even letting it air dry if I have time before I sleep but it always all goes to waste when I sleep. I wake up and I have flat hair and it’s frizzy and unmanageable. I don’t know how people go to sleep with curly/wavy hair😩
Wow this seems actually helpful! I've always used a traditional towel on my hair, then wondered why my hair was so frizzy. But most of all, I just had to comment because when I searched "tips for wavy hair" and saw this video, it felt like fate. 😄 And my name is also Melinda!
I actually do 3 out of 5 of these. I use a regular towel, which I may starr switching out now and I tend to play with it while It's drying. For me the most important is not brushing it while wet. My hair actually doesn't tangle much, so I mostly only brush it right before I shower.
It is crazy how hair works, I also have wavy hair, really similar to yours, but my hair actually looks better when I brush it while in the shower with a brush, my hair is usually straight from the top for some weird reason haha so I realized that when I brush it, it actually gives my hair more volume (I don’t have a lot of volume because I have thin hair) and it curls from the top, I’ve done this “experiment “ for some weeks now, and it has shown really good results on my hair, I guess I’ll just keep on doing it haha uwu
Your bangs look really good❤️ I always wanted bangs with curly hair but I'm afraid they won't look good. Can you do a video on how you maintain your bangs🤗
I was watching this video while untangling my hair after shower and ngl when she mentioned the first point I ran faster than flash to the bathroom to wet my hair again😭😭😭
1.*Don't was your hair everyday like on Monday washer your hair then don't was your hair on Tuesday Wednesday the. On Friday I wash then I don't wash it on Saturday and Sunday * 2.*don't oil your hair everyday only after washing your hair then you do* 3.*you have to brush your hair when wet it makes it bouncy* 4.*I know this because my grandma use to be a hair dresser know she's a business women (she's fit) just comment if you wanna know more about wavy hair
The inside of my hair never gets definition, it’s rlly straight and the curls only last one day, not even past the night, but the outside is very defined and is like a 2a/2b type of curls. So this rlly mess me up bc if I don’t brush my hair for like 2 days it will get tangled on the inside bcs it’s straight :(
You’re so lucky your hair is long 🌺 I’m growing out a pixie cut. I got COVID 2 summers ago and had straight hair my whole life. And when my hair started growing back last June it came in curly. But after 8 months it’s loose waves with a little bit of the curls at the ends. It’s been a grueling process to grow out my hair. It’s still short, but slowly growing out. I feel like with each cut it is cutting off the curly part of my hair and I am wondering if I barely have waves that are growing in. How long did it take you to grow your hair long?
My hair is wavy it used to be super wavy almost curly when I was really little like until I was about 5 then it just stopped being so wavy and I didn’t get it and my hair using these tips has gotten way better (yes I consider them as tips)
One thing I've been doing with my wavy hair for years is switching to combing with a wide tooth comb after a shower, and then let it air dry and do it's own thing, and then touch up style the little out of place hairs where necessary - usually for me, its touch up styling the bangs and around my face so that it blends or flows nicely with the rest of my hair. But I dont style or wash my hair everyday, nor do I use tons of product. Natural wavy hair tip: The less you mess with it, the more you adore it!😊💜
My hair is down to my lower back but soon I’m cutting it off to be about your length, and I’m going to donate it. But to donate it you have to cut it dry because it has to be in braids/ponytail and it would take my hair days to dry out if it was wet in a braid or pony tail. Is that technically still a deva cut? I’m scared it’s going to mess up my hair. My hairdresser is going to wash it afterwards and trim it when wet though to touch up.
paxtoncat no that’s not a deva cut. You should be fine ☺️ a deva cut is adding layers while it’s dry and it’s essentially picking up little curls one at a time and cutting them
Funny that so many things you don't do to your hair, I found oevr the years I don't do either.ainly brushing when wet - NOPE!! hello christmas tree and frizz!! Growing up I always thought my hair was straight, but I am finding as I get older, it is definitely wavy. Perhaps that has changed as I age. Either way, I did find a couple things you said insightful. I don't typically like using product and never had to before, living in a desert climate. BUT since moving to a humid climate I am finding I may have to bite the bullet and start using some products to Com at the FRIZZ!!! :-( what products do you use? I typically have shed away from them as my hair tends to get dull with product on it (I have kind of mahogany ginger colored hair - looks brownish red) and when I put product in it, it feels heavy and dull.

Do you know of any leave ins that are free of drying chemicals and parabens? I was using a leave in but I want to do what’s good for my hair.
So I can brush my hair when it’s dry? Because my hair gets so tangled even if I sleep with a satin bonnet I have to cut the knots off it’s horrible

I've been doing most of these things because people online said they were really important but they didn't work for me at all, thank you for this!
the 1st day I wash my hair it gets kinda straight but as the days go by my hair texture gets really wavy (my hair is straight from the roots and the rest is wavy) idk what to do😭
Try a protein product! I recommend a great one In My refresh routine🥰
Tldr; lightly comb through if needed, spray with water and a protein leave-in conditioner, then scrunch!
u can scrunch and diffuse in the morning, it might be a bit time consuming tho
What I do is spray my hair til damp with a spray bottle then add a tiny bit of my styling products and I air dry or diffuse it
You can wet your hair a bit, skip shampoo and apply some products
Same with waves turning out different each time! Also nice to see another wavy with coloured hair. MIne is bleached at the ends and I love it blonde so I can't give up the highlights.
Omg we have basically the same wave pattern! I love it!
Awh yay!🥰
That's it 💕 🇦🇷
Awh thank you so much! You’re English is great!🖤
I think my waves are similar to yours, but I’ve been struggling with mine ☹️
Just keep trying! I’d try adding protein! It helps with definition. I mention my favorite product for protein in my refresh routine!🖤
Me too
Thank you so much for the advice. I've been making these mistakes for my whole life. I was born with naturally curly hair but then my hair straightened the more I aged. I finally know how why my baby curls disappeared.
Jαelynn Αli you’re welcome!☺️🖤🖤
Omg great tips and advice I’m going to give these all a try! I’ve been trying on and off for over a year and get so discouraged because by the time my hair is dry I lose all curl pattern and definition and I started to feel defeated I’m giving these tips a shot because I feel like it could be the mistakes I’ve been making all along!
Also your hair is GORGEOUS! ❤️❤️❤️
Exactly girl. I have hair like this and I NEVER BRUSH MY HAIR. only with my hands. And it comes out so much better that way!
I'm so jealous of how healthy your hair is
"My curl look different every single day"
Yeaaah .. me too
You have a very cool and unique look/style!
Awh thank you!🖤🖤
It was indeed very helpful than many other super long videos.
Awesome!🖤🖤
@@melindab Thank you so much!! You're pretty by the way😃😊.
I struggle with the top layer of my hair being a lot less defined, but the bottom layer is a lot wavier? Ugh it’s so frustrating
My issue is that most of my hair is 2a/b but the underneath layer at the back is 1b 💔💔
Daniella Elm that’s normal! Mine is similar! Try adding protein
I’m gonna try out these tips and if anyone has any tips on how i can better blend in the layers, I’d be so thankful💞
ah... I literally do all of these things and wonder why my waves are so frizzy...😖
your hair is so gorgeous, I’m definitely subscribing
It depends on the wave type. My wave bounce right back, so I brush them while I style- if I don’t do that it becomes a frizzy mess in 5 minutes
I think you are the only person in this world who gives tips por actual wavy hair and not curls :( thanks
Randi Poe interesting! I do the praying hands method sometimes too☺️
I usually brush my hair in a way where I make its way up and sometimes braid it while it dries up and I noticed my hair doesn’t get as much tangled anymore
get a wooden brush/comb if you have problems with frizz! plastic creates static also micro plastics will cause your hair to stop growing!!!
I liked this before even watching it just because your hair looks so pretty and perfectly wavy ❤️
You’re sweet🥰🖤
I recently started brushing my hair I the shower and have definitely noticed my waves are stretched out 🙄 definitely not doing that anymore. So glad I found you because we have similar hair type can’t wait for more videos 😁
I'm gonna start brushing my hair in the shower to hopefully get rid of my waves.
This was very helpful. My hair is a mess and I somehow stumbled upon this video 🥰
I never knew about the brushing wet hair thing 💕
You are drop dead gorgeous !
Aw thank you!!🥺
I’ve had that happen with my hair too if I get it cut dry. Really like this video! Can’t wait to try some of your tips 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing!
Please do a room tour- ur background looks incredible
I love your specs 👓 just loveee them!!! So cool
i’ve just been very insecure abt my frizzy dry damaged hair.. my family always points it out so i will try to fix it by a month or so!!
Why no one is talking about how pretty she is?
Omg you’re so sweet 🥺🖤
How do you sleep on your hair?
I just leave it down. I talk about it in my refresh video☺️
I use a satin pillow case or satin bonnet. I wake up with less frizz.
I am smitten with your glasses. So cute!
Guadalupe Mendez thanks 🥰
I have wavyish hair, but my scalp definitley gets oils and will lie flat. my ends will be wavy though
I personally brush my hair wet bc i have tight curls and I want them to be less tight. your tips are great!
It is crazy how hair works, I also have wavy hair, really similar to yours, but my hair actually looks better when I brush it while in the shower with a brush, my hair is usually straight from the top for some weird reason haha so I realized that when I brush it, it actually gives my hair more volume (I don’t have a lot of volume because I have thin hair) and it curls from the top, I’ve done this “experiment “ for some weeks now, and it has shown really good results on my hair, I guess I’ll just keep on doing it haha uwu
i brush my hair wet, still in the shower to get the conditioner everywhere and detangle
i don’t brush my products through my wet hair either! and i use a tshirt!
What do you ask for when you get your hair cut? If I ask for layers or something else, it always ends up looking like a triangle 🙄
I brush the conditioner through my hair with a very gentle wet brush.
Such a pretty girl with pretty hair! What are your styling products?
I brush my wet hair with a denman brush and it helps with my waves/curls.
Yeah I’ve tried a denman brush and it stretched out my waves but I might have been doing it wrong 😜
@@melindab I watched alot of vedios on how to use it first. I use the brush kind of like when you use a flat iron to curl hair.
Your hair looks so good! Did you really upload this only a year ago? Your hair is SO long now!
your hair is exactly like mine! i wear mine straight majority of the time though.
Your bangs look really good❤️
I always wanted bangs with curly hair but I'm afraid they won't look good. Can you do a video on how you maintain your bangs🤗
Like cutting and styling? Sure!
@@melindab yes! Thank you🤗❤️❤️
What brand, color is that lipstick!?
I was watching this video while untangling my hair after shower and ngl when she mentioned the first point I ran faster than flash to the bathroom to wet my hair again😭😭😭
I have the same type hair as yours and I’m trying to look for good things to use on my hair to make it look good because my hair is frizzy a lot
So this rlly mess me up bc if I don’t brush my hair for like 2 days it will get tangled on the inside bcs it’s straight :(
This is extremely straight forward and helpful!!
You’re so lucky your hair is long 🌺
I’m growing out a pixie cut.
When I scrunch my hair I find that it leaves my hair frizzy but I don't use products
Natural wavy hair tip: The less you mess with it, the more you adore it!😊💜
Thank you! Can you also make a video on refreshing the curls after wash?
The lady at the salon gave me a diva cut after brushing my curls out💀
My hair is down to my lower back but soon I’m cutting it off to be about your length, and I’m going to donate it.
You should be fine ☺️ a deva cut is adding layers while it’s dry and it’s essentially picking up little curls one at a time and cutting them
melinda okay thanks so much! I got a little scared haha :)
@@melindab a deva cut is by a deva certified stylist
