Removing the AntiGlare:
You need a way to start the peel, a credit card works or a knife but that could chip the glass if you are not careful. Though even as much as a long finger nail may be best.
Once you get it started you can pull away a bit by simply pulling but I would stop once you pass the corner of the bezel(black darker part). There I would get some kind of heat source. A hair dryer is good on low, nothing too hot just enough to get the adhesive to become a little less resistant.
Then apply your heat method and pull directly in the opposite direction. Like don't pull away from the screen but try to pull from one corner to the other. This puts less stress on the glass. Be very careful when you reach the middle of the display. That is the weakest point because nothing is supporting it. Once you pass that point just continue the process.
It is not too hard to pull off, it is a bit stronger glass than you may think. It is made to bend and flex a certain bit. But also dont add too much heat because that may loosen the glass strength.
Don't overthink it, just don't be stupid with it. Be careful and you will be fine, not rocket science at all, just care and patience.
Good luck!

This video is old but I wanted to share my experience with removing the Anti-Glare film. I've had my 4K 15" Touch Y700 for about two years now and have been happy with it as far as performance goes. Being heavily into photography and looking at my camera LCD and external monitor, I noticed immediately that the colors were off on the laptop, casting a greenish/yellow hue. I read that this is the case with botht the 4K and FHD models. I tried using the in-computer color calibration tools in the computer but couldn't get it right. I even bought a ColorMunki color calibrator but I still wasn't happy with the post-calibration results. I read that the the Anti-Glare film was the cause of the bland and greenish yellow hued colors. Initially I didn't want to remove due to warranty concerns at that time.
I finally bit the bullet and removed the Anit-Glare film last night. As mentioned in a few other forums (including this one), I used a blow dryer. Started at a corner that gave me the most free play and used an exacto knife to life the corner. I tried a credit card at first but even after heating the corner with the hair dryer it didn't just pop up as I expected. I carefully slid the exacto knife under the film and was able to pull about an inch of the film away from the screen. At that point, I simply ran the hair dryer (on low setting) back and forth while pulling away (in the opposite corner direction) of the film. I took my time. The film was stuck pretty good on there and the only way it gave way was when I had the hair dryer on there for about 2 minutes at a time. The whole process only took me about 20-25 minutes. I think it could be cut down to 10-15 but I only pulled away at the film when there was less resistance, to ensure the screen would be damaged, or no residue would be left. The film itself is fairly thick (as you can see from the cutout hole around the webcam).
The glossy screen underneath is beautiful. No gummy/adhesive residue at all. Looks sharper and colors are better...but definitely not a "fix" for the laptop's color issues. It is definitely an improvement though. After I removed the film, I used the Color Calibration tool on the laptop and matched it to colors on my SLR (5D Mark IV) and my other monitor, to where I was satisfied. I actually ended up using the color profile (ICC file) found online: www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-Ideapad-Y700-15ISK-80NW-Notebook-Review.155878.0.html
The touch function works fine, but because the screen is now glassy, there is more resistance when swiping, especially if you have sweaty fingertips...just something to keep in mind. I did notice a bit more glare on the glossy screen, but haven't been in a high-glare environment yet to see how bad it gets.
Thanks for posting this here!
Having run a G700 Lenovo since 2014 with no regrets, it died when I spilled a cup of coffee on it. I want this one to replace it, but getting one in central Montana is a challenge. Money is not a problem within reason. I find gougers only so far.
Thanks for the write up. Are you still using the laptop? How is the screen holding up?
I have also remove this plastic Anti glare film thanks to that video and i have to say that this laptop is still one of the best i ever had in all around performance and i am not meaning only gaming. Build quality, keyboard, reboot speed, sound is amazing, colors are great, touch screen works smoothly, typing is a pleasure. I really love this laptop and is a pity Lenovo stop selling this product or even better they didn't work on this design no more which i think is totally great.
Thx for the Intel
Getting one today, So hyped!
im sorry for ur loss...
+chirag goswami Haha someone here is jealous because they use a cheap laptop because he can't afford one? Lmfao
+Tully hahaha exactly... im sorry i was just kidding and congrats on the new laptop :D
+chirag goswami That's fine
+Tully Lol I just got mine too but for 750
Latin american version comes with a diferent kind of screen. It has a black matt plastic frame over the actual screen (as usual in many other laptops out there), so the method described here to remove the anti-glare foil doesn´t apply with it, i think the frame would have to be removed first in this one in order to uncover the very corners of it (if there is even an anti -glare on. It looks pretty much of a real matt screen to me, tough). Also, this version includes the external DVD recorder unit in the box by default. (Y700 - 15ISK 80NV003QLM)
Dude this was one of the best laptop review's I've seen. Really helpful and quality video, thx! and I subbed :)
Thanks for getting this done so quick man! I think I'm gonna pull the trigger...my current laptop is like 5 years old. This should be more than enough. I just wish they offered the 256g SSD on the prebuilt options. You can customize to get one in there, but it's a ton more money.
Anyway, good stuff, looking forward to the other side of the review.
Hi, I just bought this version: Lenovo IdeaPad Y700-15ISK 80NV00M9MJ
Specs:
Intel Quad-Core i7 6700HQ 2.6GHz up to 3.5GHz
8GB DDR4 Ram
128GB SSD+1TB HDD
Nvidia Geforce GTX960M 4GB DDR5
15.6" FHD LED Screen
My questions:
1. Mine does not have the AntiGlare plastic. Is it normal?
2. I don't know whether it's monitor issue or graphic card. When I play a movie or stream youtube , although it's HD, the quality is not that good. Kinda pixelate and the color is too deep, it too dark and not nice. How to solve this issue?
3. On the bottom, at left and right have some vent with plastic covered. What is that? Do I need to remove the plastic?
4. The battery is not removable. Usually I will remove the battery and use the AC. So for this laptop, to take care of the battery, only plug in the AC, when the battery is low instead of just plug the AC all the time?
5. I cannot install Chrome at all eventhough using offline installer.
I hope you can help me. Thanks!
+kamenslasherz 1. Yes
2. Look for my video "how to fix windows 10 resolution"
3. Yes remove it.
4. This is your choice, some pcs handle it differently. I leave mine plugged it whenever I can, but it can have a small effect on the life of the battery, but for me that is too much too deal with.
5. Uninstall mcafee security and try again.
All fixed! Thank you very much! :D
Ted Karlsson is it doesn’t have 4gb video?

Thanks very much for an honest review of this laptop I had been leaning towards msi and Dell because of them being cheaper in the UK right now but your review changed my mind
That was actually legit such a good review. thanks for that lad. ordering mine next week
awesome. i will wait for the 1060m to came out and buy a laptop
got to wait a few years if you want such a thing at a decent price
Adam Hosein August gpu for laptops from nvidia are coming. maybe i will wait a little for the price to drop but i expect with 1060m and i7 to pay somethink like 1000-1099.
Its not like i want a 700 euro laptop with 1060m
could go with an i5 to drop that price down a bit more.
I waited and it's like 1600 usd for one, so I bit the bullet and got this one.
Ibrahim Said Yes indeed. well i am not in a big hurry so i hope they drop the price until christmas. i will buy the 1060 but even the 1050 will be faster than 960m i believe
lol you peeled that anti glare but now its like a mirror unless u play in the dark...
got this laptop a week ago, very happy with it. i play stardew valley and fallout new vegas runs well ! great review
Finally a good kind of review. Keep them rolling.
>beautiful
>glossy display
Pick one.
Thanks for the video , it really helped me make up my mind. I'm getting this baby in a couple of months
Me too! :D
I might order one next week, unless I find something better =)
+Backon Lazer Good for you guys :) I'm happy for ya
I hope to find one, myself. If I can find one.
TODAY I went to have my Lenovo 2016 model Y700 Gaming Laptop cleaned as I looked at the new Legion Series for 2022 and 2023. Guess what? My speakers and sound quality on my 2016 kicked butt over the newest models. I was shocked and even the shop owner had to admit it too.
I just picked one up. really good speakers. I gotta try video editing though. I'm sure you can play any kind of game you want on there.
so? did you try video editing? :P
I'm between this one and Dell i7559 (the ones I found both have same specs and price).. both are good for gaming (for me) so I wonder which one is better for editing!
Every time I decided to go for one of them, I change my mind lol
+ferMADify I did a review on it. A render test is on my video. it's powerful and pretty affordable. I recommend it.
Ronald's World and Opinions cool, thanks! I'll watch it :)
This is still the go-to budget gaming laptop

you cant run it in a couple of months
damn man. just found out your channel and watched 4-5 videos and I gotta say, the production quality of your videos is too damn high, you deserve hundreds of thousands of more subscribers!
+Mustafa Aqil When does that happen? lol
If you get the one with the m.2 SSD, it doesn't come with the bracket for the 2.5 inch SATA drive and it's a hard part to find, so it's better to get the one with a 2.5 inch hard drive, install an m.2 SSD, and install the OS on that, using the hard drive for bulk storage.

how do I remove the anti glare plastic off my screen?
Edson Lopes I wanna know too
Sage Gardner dave lee mentioned using a hair dryer
Thank You so much, that was a very professional review! Love the playlist you put up there with all the benchmarks. Keep up the good job! :)
+LajtowyyPL Thank you for watching!
First off, thanks for a super informative review of this laptop. You actually helped me choose this over the other 2 or 3 laptops I was looking at. Keep up the good work! Fingers crossed that I don't get a lemon like some of the people in the reviews I've read....LOL!
Those stickers aren't stuck on straight.... Deal breaker.
Liam Ashton would it be a problem taking them off?
Ke Yo depends. Sometimes they leave a sticky residue that won't come off.
is taking off the reflector screen worth it? and how do you go about doing that??
i wanna know the same thing. Cant find any video on the internet which shows how to do it from start to finish..

hey my parents are divorced and lives 1½ hours apart. I can not get a desktop because of it. but I do not know if it's worth it to buy it now, because my laptop is old and can not even play more rust
Just bought it. And it is still on its way. Cant wait to see ....

u are the man!
Peeled off my antiglare film and damn is the contrast and colors more vibrant. I got mine off in about 10 minutes without heat.
I began by sliding a very new swiss army knife under a corner. i had to then slide it a little along the edge to get enough to begin peeling with a finger nail. once i got a corner, i started working the top edge. i then peeled more of the entire top right corner, and then used the peeled top edge to work the top left corner. then i peeled more of the top left corner while working the left edge until i reached the bottom left corner. working 3 corners, toward the middle, i was finally able to go sort of a mix of horizontal, left to right and diagonal, top left to bottom right to finish the middle and bottom right.
Is the screen looking better after peeling ?
I bought this laptop 20 days ago and its awesome...
i use this still ad my everyday laptop, works great for me!
But did your knees get weak? Were your arms heavy? Was there vomit on your sweater already? Mom's Spaghetti? Were you nervous but on the surface you looked calm and ready???

Great review and thank you so much. I am not a gamer but I wanted the power that this laptop provides. Very happy with it and adjusting a bit to the keyboard. Your advice regarding the antiglare was perfect. I also was not a fan of it so I removed it with a hair dryer as you did and it worked perfectly. It took a good 20 minutes of heating and pulling but I am so glad I did it. I am loving the display. For anyone else of course it is at risk but I started by heating the corner which allowed me to start pulling the antiglare film off. It is really stuck on their so you need to pull hard and above all be patient. Go slow. I used a sweeping motion with the hair dryer removed the antiglare film little by little. It worked beautifully. Thanks again for the review man.
Found this 2nd hand for 200 euros. Which I think is more than a good enough deal for someone who has only had a utility laptop up until now.
BUT WHAT'S THE PRICE?????????????????? 😒

Good review, it does look nice but it's not worth upgrading from Lenovo Y50. For other things it is but not for gaming, GTX 980M would make me buy one, Lenovo need to step it up. GTX 970M should of come with it at least, that's a shame they keep bringing GTX 960M.
for Lenovo to put a gtx 970m they would have to make the laptop a bit thicker for better cooling and it no longer be a bang for the buck laptop although I do agree with you they should have atleast a gtx 965m 4gb that would make a good gaming laptop and put 75 Hertz on the screen
TheRagingWalrus I would rather see it thicker with GTX 980M any day, it would cost more but that would be better. Put the same GTX 960M twice is not a good way to go, the performance stay the same as Lenovo Y50 2015.
+Tech1Tv well they should have two versions one with bang for the buck and one for the top tier gamer with a gtx970m or 980m
TheRagingWalrus You got it, that's what they should of done. I would get one if it was GTX 980M
i believe gtx 960m makes it cheaper than others, and the cooling system is really amazing on y700.
Seeing this in my Lenovo Y700 :D
I just bought a week ago the top of the line Y700 with the 4k screen and 512 ssd,
It's fantastic. Build quality exceeded my expectations and it's very fast.
But that anti glare screen film, just makes everything soft, so the picture looks sharp, but a little off,
Could you give us tips on how to remove the film without damaging the screen? I'm kinda wary...
And thanks, a great review!
There are some comments I have written about it. I was thinking about making a video while doing this review but decided against it... Now I regret that.
But in short... You need a way to start the peel, a credit card works or a knife but that could chip the glass if you are not careful. Though even as much as a long finger nail may be best.

+Vaterlo lenovo has heat issues my friend owns one and you can't even keep your fingers on WSAD after about 30 mins of extensive gaming.
if portability isn't a factor try building a PC :)
Got my Y700 a month ago and happy with it. Nice and fast, no overheating near WASD keys no matter how long i use it. I actually notice heat on the top, bottom right, and near the G/H keys but never too hot to be unplayable.
Only complaints are that the battery doesnt last that long and you cant remove it, but besides that its a fine laptop to me.
It just gets lightly heated at the G and H keys. Either way the heat is still in all the places i mentioned.
Best laptop!

Steel in 2022 one of the moat beautiful laptop designs ever
Facts, but the edges of the y700 in 2023 little bit ugly
Great review! How bad is the PWM here? Does it really flicker when setting to low brightness? Does it hurt the eyes if reading in low brightness?
As a Y50-70 GTX 860m user, that heat dispersion upgrade sounds so tempting.. Thoughts? Upgrade, or nay?
hey I have this laptop but just want to know that do the keys fade out or wear over time? I got this in September last year. just curious.
Watching this in my Y700, awesome notebook love the speaker!
Thanks for the awesome review. On my 2nd yoga 900 (due to bent chassis) and it's having the same issues as the first one I returned so I'm awaiting Lenovos warranty department to call so I can exchange my yoga 900 for one of these.
Got this laptop, pretty great, but with some gripes:
- lid is just way too hard to open
- two finger tap on touchpad doesn't work (three and four finger tap however, works just fine)
- speaker pops a few times after booting. (is this normal?)
- fingerprint magnet on the glossy part where the power button sits
- no mute button, not a huge deal tho
However, there are some stuff that I didn't believe would be so much useful, like the battery level light indicator (it blinks when charging), and toggleable battery charge limit on 60%.
Also, want to note that speaker aren't facing toward you, instead they still face towards the ceiling. That's just the grills facing towards you. Just look at them under a light source.
Does it support true 5.1 surround sound over HDMI ? Cheers mate.
Karim Farid I don't have any speakers for that to test it out, but after googling it the hdmi port is 1.4a, so I believe it would work
Still rockin this beast
Awesome review , thanks!
Got mine today!!! I'm sure I'll enjoy this baby 👌
Abu Al3z It's actually pretty nice. I've already downloaded some games for it and it all runs smoothly. If you can afford one buy one! Cheers 😁
and now ? is there are issues with it ??
Mohamed Ashraf Al-sheikh There's this thing that says something about a mathematical error with one of the cores of the processor. It doesn't affect daily performance, though. This thing runs as smooth as butter, but I'll still have someone knowledgeable about this check this up so that everything is 100% fine.
Should i Buy from Amazon or from lenovo.com? Thanks!
a Screwed Up Square If you live near a Lenovo Store or live in the U.S. I'd recommend you to buy it from their website. For me, though, it was a little different because I live in South America so Amazon is a better option where I live. But, like I said, if you live in the US you'll definitely get a much more direct buy from Lenovo.com. Cheers!
I have the 80NW000PUS model of this laptop that only comes with the 1 TB Hard drive. In case anyone is wondering, that model DOES indeed have the slot for a second m.2 SSD if you ever choose to add one to the laptop. I always opt to put SSD's in every laptop I have, because I have had really bad experiences with laptops that have hard drives.
+Lodmot is it PCIe m.2 or SATA m.2, I'm sorry if my question doesn't make sense, I'm a noob regarding these recent technologies and I'm wondering if it's worth buying a samsung 950 PRO M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 and put it on this bad boy :)
Great review man! Would you guys say that it is worth buying the 6700hq/960m-2GB/1GB 5400rpm over the 6300hq/960m-4GB/1GB 5400rpm+128SSD, for 50$ more?

Are you familliar with Asus ROG GL552 series?
If so does it have like matte screen like this?
I kinda like glossy one though.
GREAT review! Very well done. Thank you. Would you be willing to record the innards (I'm curious of the layout of the hdd, m.2, etc)? Nothing too elaborate. Just unscrewing the bottom plate(s) and seeing how everything is stuffed in there. Thanks!

Thanks for the well constructed review! Recently got this guy and am loving it. I would like to take the anti-glare cover off however, as I do see some of the washing out impact it has. I saw your other comment, and was wondering how risky the process really is, and if you think it is well worth it. I'd of course take all the necessary precaution as you mentioned, but I would still like to know how easily I could ruin the machine before delving into it.
Also wouldn't mind hearing from someone else who has tried it.
Thanks!
Its not too bad but you gotta pull pretty hard and get it quite hot. I would say the only real spot to worry is when you are pulling from the center of the glass because there is no support. Its not that hard to do you just have to be careful and take your time.
FatedCb Thanks for the response. I'll likely hold off until I get a bit more comfortable with the idea. Appreciate the detail. Keep up the great work!
Nice review, which screen is better this Y700 or the Inspiron 7559.

I've had this laptop for about 4 years now. I'd rate it a 4/5. There are frequent lag spikes when playing CSGO and lag on other games.
can you tell me how noisy is the laptop under idle and under load of a big game.
can you tell me what the power consumption is in watt hour ?
I'm having issues with the touchpad left and right clicks. Are you having issues as well?
Is there any flex on the keyboard or does the screen bend?
Great content and video!!! Txxx
loving the videos, would you recommend the y700 over the dell inspiron 15 7000 series gtx 960m?
+Alfie if price is not a factor for you then I would go with the Lenovo, but if price doesn't matter then you should get a 970m or higher, so in the end I would go with the dell.
great, thanks !
when you took off the film, did it leave any glue on the monitor? If so, how did you clean it off?
which one is the best under $1000 gaming laptop? this or got other model/brands?
hey man
great review!
could you please reply with a full review of the display post and pre antiglare removal? maybe describe in a paragraph of 2 in comparison to other displays you've seen like the macbook air
Thanks
I just ordered the 17inch y700
How long do you use the hair dryer? I cannot seem to remove the anti glare. Can you give a step-by-step for this?
ive owned one of these for a few months now. no problems with it yet. my only annoyance is the smudging on the screen when i open the laptop. my fingers smudge the top every time. other than that its really quite a nice machine. not really loud. keys have a nice feel and are placed well. i ran dark souls 3 on it maxed out and it held 50 fps. would recommend for first timers not looking to pay over 2000 bucks for a laptop.
Had my eye on this one for some time and I really would consider buying it were it not for the countless reports of throttling issues I've read from other people.
why is my lenovo y700's fan is so loud? I mean im just watching this and its still loud. How do I check where I can see why the fan is so louad atm?
What to choose between Lenovo Y700 (I7-6700HQ, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD and Nvidia M960) and the new Asus ROG G551VW (I7-6700HQ, 16GB DDR4 RAM, NVIDIA M960, 1terra and 128GB SSD)?
Leaving aside the HDD and SSD, in terms of performance, which is better?
I was looking at a Dell 7559 or the new 7567 models, but they both have Matte displays. Do you know if you can peel the anti-glare off the Dell models? I do photo editing and prefer a glossy display. The older Dell 7559 actually specs out better with color accuracy then the newer 7567 model, but it has the 6th gen i7 and older DDR3 RAM...but I may still buy the older version. Als, very easy to upgrade RAM, add an SSD, etc....Thanks and really nice video.....
Hi FatedCb, first of all, I apologize for such a late comment, but I have an important question. I really enjoyed your review and it really pushed the wind into my back to buy this great laptop since my former one was Y510p non-SLI model which was also great. However the only issue I have with this transition is that, even though older model had TN screen, it seems it was somewhat better than this IPS display and mainly because of the not so great color reproduction and the annoying black color glow on the newer model (someone would call it common IPS glow).
So, my question is, if I remove the anti glare coating of the screen like you described, beside better color reproduction, would I get better black color reproduction without yellowish glow? I think the anti glare is a nice feature to have, but if removing it would greatly improve picture quality, I am prepared to deal with glossy display rather than with not so great picture quality.
Sorry for the long comment, I thank you in advance and I hope to hear from you soon. Cheers man and keep up the good work!
