Fast forward a year and I met the Crue at their bus after a show on the Tour with Corabi, at the Paramount Theatre in Denver. I told John that the show was great and he was really good. He looked me in the eye and just nodded. Tommy had ADD and couldn't focus on anything, Mick was hiding on the bus, Nikki was easily the most friendly and gracious.

In 2004 a co-worker won a "meet and greet" pass for a Vince Neal concert at The Clevelandar in Miami (next to the Versace' mansion) and gave it to me. I bought two Motley CD's to get signed for a friend/band-mate. He was supposed to come out to meet us before the gig at 6PM. Was a no show. After the shitty opening cover band. Still a no show. After the concert. More no show but at least Vince's guitarist was nice and apologetic.
He was kicked out of the Clevelander (WTF) for bad behavior so about seven of us with all this Motley Crew schwag (CD,s, LP's, posters, etc.) had to walk nearly half a mile to some bar he was at. In this overpriced celebrity hangout ($25 drinks) there was the asshole sitting with his Pam Anderson replica girlfriend and some drunk redheaded fratboy who kept spilling drinks and breaking stuff (now no mystery as to why they were thrown out of The Clevelander).
We sat down at a table (I was about to walk at this point). A couple of our peeps went up to Vince to skake his hand. We were sitting therefor about 15-20 minutes (felt like two hours) and then Vince gets up while yelling at the plastic girlfriend. They start going outside. We all follow them out. I had my CDs in my hand. Vince yelled "step up" and proceeded to scribble on both covers without looking. He handed them back to me with a dirty look on his face.
They briskly got in a cab. I yelled "what a dick!!" loud enough for Vince and co. (and the entire neighborhood to hear) as they pulled out. The event promoter promised me he would have Vince properly sign the CDs and never returned my calls or emails ($25 down the drain). There was even one gal with a giant poster she was lugging around to be signed and it never happened. Vince Neil is a true piece of shit. I should have spat in his face and/or punched him. Jail would have been worth it. Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

I agree they should have stayed true to who they were and the sound but grunge was a real movement not to be glossed over. But , things like when Tesla did the 5man acoustic strip down thing , Motley couldn’t do that . They were like a pretty girl , but if you see her without the wig and make up , you may need a six pack . Corabi was more of an earthy musician , acoustic and voice and lyrics . Motley 94 was a great record and should have been gigantic , but Crue had sold 30 million , based on whole another animal .

Think if the album came out 4 years earlier, it would have gone easily over platinum, maybe better if they released more singles, but the reality was, by 1994 hair metal was dead and seen as super uncool by the youth during that era. If (hypothetically speaking) Dr. Feelgood was released in 1994, it would have struggled to go platinum. Just the way it was at that time. And for the record, I can't stand grunge rock.
