    Got to say John your mindset is remarkably similar to my own when it comes to safety, escape roots, always looking 5-6 cars ahead, its kept me from never having an accident from 46 years of driving bikes and cars , avoided loads because of it. so you keep up your standards pal. I am in the market for this bike and is why i'm watching this, excellent ride along with much information like the mpg, the emergency braking etc, one of the best video's out there if not the best covering this machine so thank you very much for that John.

    Over the past 40 years I have ridden everything from an FS1E to a GL1800 GoldWIng but had a test ride on one of these last week and it was a hoot. When I came back an hour later, the grin on my face said it all. With petrol prices going stupid as they are I think it's a no brainer.

      Agreed. I moved to a 650cc last year but I’m considering getting a CBF125 with the same PCX engine in - it does 200mpg! Impossible to go further for less money!

    Great review of the little PCX keep up the vids. As a novice rider your riding skills and mind set for riding safe are excellent mate,you won’t have any problems getting your full license. Got mine 2 years ago at 50 lol. Regarding ditching the car ,me & the wife had a car each but I gave mine back at the end of its pcp deal & not replaced it & not missed it. Do use her car occasionally still. Commute on my motorbike now DCT cheaper ,own bike outright & every ride rain or shine is enjoyable.

    As an owner of many many 50-125cc bikes an important advantage of a scooter is the weather protection over say a honda c90. Also the belt only needs changing at 12k. Whereas on my c90/anf125 in winter despite a chain guard I had seized links and had to soak the chain in diesel. A right faff. The engine/ electrics and gubbins are under the seat and not exposed. Maintenance is easy seat cover off and everything accessible. The one big negative is if you get a puncture or need tyre replacement on a belt scooter. Involves quite a bit of work.in the end I’ve had an xmax250 and sh300 pocket rockets indeed. Am getting on now and thinking of getting a. Forza 350 and selling big bike

    The Honda SH300i is worth considering if you’re thinking of a bigger scooter. Excellent build quality and performance. I bought one recently and I’m very impressed, even though I have a couple of larger motorcycles in the garage (Tiger 800 & Versys 650).
    I recently picked up a lovely condition second-hand Honda Innova 125 for commuting, but maybe the PCX would be more suitable, especially with the fuel range and underseat storage.
    I’ve finally decided to return to 2 wheels for my 3 mile commute to work after 30 years of using the car!

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  5 лет назад

      Interesting. I might consider a 300ish CC but it would mean doing my full license which currently I can't justify the money for.
      Never say never. Did you consider the Forza 300? I've heard great things about it.

    • @AkaWilf
      @AkaWilf 5 лет назад +1

      John Willis The SH300, & 125 are probably more sporty with their 16” wheels...which are quite large for a scooter, whereas the Forza would be better suited for longer distance. Quite pricey, but a very capable and well equipped bike.
      I’ve just looked at the PCX at my Honda dealer and might just sell my Innova and buy a new one next year.

    Hi John, enjoyed the video. I'm considering changing my ten-year-old 400cc Burgman for one of these as my commute is much like you described yours. Am envying the massive mpg (I get about 60-65) and it just makes more sense for the job if the extra power isn't needed or used. Like the colour and the screen looks a worthwhile addition. I'd probably go for a top box, too, which would add to its carrying capacity but also give it a bigger profile, which may make a difference to the respect some other vehicles treat it with.

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  4 года назад

      Completely agree. I can't see any need for a bigger scooter currently. I might swap to a Forza in a few years but for now the PCX is an ideal commuter and with the additions you and myself have done it makes it much more comfortable and practical. 👍🏻

    Good review , had bigger bikes for years but may have a job change next year and work via agencies to give me more flexibility when I work so considering a pcx at that point for the commute . Currently have a CB500X which is a great bike, so much so that I don't wish to go back to anything bigger now as it's plenty fast enough for my needs, also like the little groms and tnt but can see the practicality of a scooter from a storage point of view .
    Be interesting to have a cost video , cost to buy, fuel cost, servicing cost, cost per mile etc
    Not sure how exposed the bike is underneath but worth looking at giving it a coating of acf50 as bikes don't weather very well when ridden in all weather's, plenty of videos on that about, basically don't get it on any places where your hands and feet go and don't get it on the brakes and tyres

    • @jrewillis

      There wouldn't really be market for the 150 in the UK. CBT would only allow 125. I suppose a 250 could work but I'd just get the 300 Forza. Better spec and even more comfortable.

    @coobin77 5 лет назад +1

    Hello John, what is the seating position on it? I had a xmax 250 and remember that it was quite horrible for my back and spine when I went thru bumpy roads. The main drawback of scooters is all the force when suspension is working goes into your back and not legs as opposed to motocycles.

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  5 лет назад

      It is a traditional scooter in that sense. But the suspension is good in my opinion. It's comfy on my 30-40 minute commute on some pretty bumpy roads.

      Alot depends on your country and licensing requirements. In the UK we only get the 125cc as it allows us to ride it on a less advanced license. A 150cc would require a full license.

    Hi Ive got a geared bike on my CBT but want an auto. Cant decide between PCX, NMAX and SH125. SH125 has best spec - ABs front and back with traction control and a genuine step through. It just looks a bit crap. NMAX and PCX look good and now have ABS at least on the front (although rear drum on PCX) but you have to lift your leg over the centre. I really would like a PCX look with step through. Does that lifting the leg over the middle get on your tits atall? Or does it not bother you?

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  4 года назад

      Tbh it's never been an issue. I think it makes the scooter feel much more like a normal motorcycle than a scooter. Plus it gives you a nice big fuel tank and unless it's pouring down the shape means you don't get that wet. The rear drum is perfect Imo. Low maintenance, you barely use the rear brake anyway. It's plenty up to the job.
      I'd never go back to geared bikes for commuting now. It's so much easier and you can concentrate more on the people around you rather than gears etc.
