I will post links to all of the artwork soon. That includes the Alice one, even though it's not in this video. Originally I had thought it was Monoe, and I put it there thinking it was. After I found out it wasn't, I've been wanting to replace it. Since it was popular, though, I'll include the link here anyways.

Originally I got the idea to make a Yume Nikki arrangement so I could enter a video-game-themed song contest (which I won :D). I've noticed that most Yume Nikki remixes aren't very fitting for the game and weren't doing it justice (see 24 Effects). Regardless if the remixes were good or not, electronic beats and catchy tunes don't really feel very Yume Nikki-ish. I wanted to capture the feelings and emotions that I, and many others, have for this game.
The song is in three movements: Alone (0:00 - 6:17), Nightmare (6:18 - 8:15), and Epitaph (8:16 - 12:15).
The song starts with the iconic title theme, loaded with dissonance and awful chords to put you on edge. What you were about to experience was shrouded in mystery, but you knew that it would not be a happy experience. As you take your first steps in Madotsuki's dream world, you find that you are very much alone. Even if you come across someone, they just ignore you. You're lost in a world completely unknown to you, and the longer you're in the greater the sense of dread you feel. You eventually meet Poniko, and having finally met someone like you you start to feel a bit more at ease.
In the song, the slow tempos and solemn melodies help create this sad and lonely feel while still being shrouded in mystery. Poniko's section is a lot more ominous than in the game, but I also included a music box ballad section to still keep that playful childish feel that's in the game.
Suddenly, the world around you begins to fall apart. The dream world shows its true face, and you find a world full of horrifying creatures. You try to fight back, but your efforts are futile. They keep coming back, and they can't be stopped. And then, just when it couldn't possibly get any worse, you discover that Poniko is actually Uboa, the strongest and deadliest of all the monsters. The dream breaks down, and you are frightened back into the real world.
In the song, the key spam represents the chaos of the nightmare. The powerful chords and changing time signature portrays the struggle of a battle. Completely unintentional, but I think the second spam kinda sounds like evil laughter. Unintentional, but completely fitting.
The next part is slightly reflective of my interpretation of the game, but not completely. I tried to make it as applicable to other interpretations as I could. Spoilers are present.
The sights Madotsuki saw in her dream proved to be too much for her, and she jumped. Madotsuki wanted to end it all, but in the afterlife a memory of Masada surfaces. Through all of Madotsuki's dreams, Masada was the only person who could comfort her. He meant a lot to her, and it is through this memory that she realizes just how much her dreams meant to her. So then, in the afterlife, she decides to forever be with her dreams.
I always found the save screen theme to be the most comforting and powerful out of all the songs in the game, so I used it for the entire third part. It starts out slow and simple, as Madotsuki remembers Masada and the comfort he provided. The sudden revelation between Madotsuki and her dreams turns into a very sudden, dramatic build up, as images of her dream began to fill her mind. Finally, the song turns into dramatic fanfare and drums (marching band style) as Madotsuki is reunited with her dreams. The song ends the same as it began, but this time instead of mystery and dread, you feel comfort and solace. Madotsuki will be forever happy.
I can't even describe how much Yume Nikki means to me. I've come to know Madotsuki and her friends more than any other character in a game, and I feel like I could call them my friends. Such a dark game that revolves around disturbing imagery and themes and suicide ironically got me out of a depression. I can relate to Madotsuki so well, even though there's absolutely no story in the game. Yume Nikki will forever be my favorite game, and the memory of Madotsuki will forever live on through me.
Thank you all for your support. It makes me happy to see so many people enjoying not only this song, but the game as well, as much as I do. I now have easy access to recording tools, so you can expect more frequent videos from now on. Expect more songs!

I get to see how you see each encounter, your own hopes for Madotsuki, your true emotion during every single moment, and it truly speaks to me. Thank you for this. Thank you very much.
Also, no worries. That jump couldn't have been her death. If you gather any Yen in the dreams and wake up back to your apartment, you still have the Yen. Since those dreams are certainly not reality, then you must still be dreaming. Happy ending for Madotsuki = 100%

***** ***** Deitsu wow, I didn't realized Yume Nikki had such a younger side to it's fanbase! I played it for the first time many years ago. I'm 20 years old now and I still go back to play it every now and then just for nostalgia.

the original Lucid Suite is 10 years old already and I still can't get enough of this. Thank you so much for posting this. I remember being super excited when this HQ version came out. I can't believe it's been so long.

After years of waiting I finally decided to create the sheet music myself. I'm a current music major now, when I first heard this arrangement I was in middle school. Even now this has been a piano piece that I would give credit to helping me discover my deep love and fascination with music.
Time to out my aural skills notation classes to the test and notate this arrangement so that I can finally play it. When I finish the notation for the sheet music I can post it in the comments here for anyone who is still out there years later and wants to play.
I will of course list this youtuber as the composer. However my notated version of the arrangement will be for personal use only, and will likely not be perfect, however id like to thing I can notate it pretty well from listening to this recording.
If you're able to post this I would love it. I hope the artist is okay, I always come back to this song when I need to feel understood for things I can't put into words. I'd etch it onto my sould if I could, even if that sounds melodramatic

I listened to this religiously during the toughest times in my life and it always both calmed me and helped me through the day. I don't mind with that, the reason anime characters have big eyes is to let viewer to see their expression. 99% of the pics with eyes open show her feeling about endless sadness, despair, which is the theme of the game and fit perfectly.

shit this has been in my playlist for years now and I just now remembered to like the video.
Unfortunately I've been struck with a bad case of crashed computer, so progress on the sheets have been slowed down significantly. When I get my computer fixed, I'll put more attention into finishing those sheets. I'm currently strapped for money, so the soonest I can get the computer fixed is within a month's time. That's the situation right now. You can still play this piece at your performance, but you wouldn't have the entire time between now and then to work on it.

Do you have the sheet music for this? I planned to play this (and some other good ones) at the ending ceremony (or whatever it's called) at my school, it's on 18. June, so it'll be good to know early on since i would need some time to practice, i do of course intend to ask for your permission first, and give you all credit for it at my school.

True, but considering the source material I see adding eyes as an artistic liberty. Not that the art with eyes is bad, to me it just seems a bit off as compared to the game. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion ^,.,^
