Michelle is a kindred spirit. I like her & her husband's choice of home & the renovation, especially the kitchen with the showstopper oven, is beautiful. She is not the first video I have seen with a collection of "stranger portraits," which I find fascinating. She is like me in that she chooses items that speak to her whether anyone else gets her or not, and she loves her dogs, has a dog art section & loves to sit in the light of her sun porch. Then my stomach dropped. I caught sight of her panoramic black & white vintage photo wall & knew we had much more in common than before. "We are not ornate people," she said, and I believe that what she has to offer in style, design & decor is just plain perfection. Thank you for a most fabulous tour of a wonderful home!!!
Love love love the cat portrait over the fireplace, the Built-in bookshelves, the oversized dog bed, her fur babies 🐕 🐈 the corner sink with the lighting above it, all of the chandeliers & wall sconces, the lavender chairs, The dog gallery wall, The can opener collection, the stirrup cups so cool, The little locks on the kitchen cabinets, Her quirky style of loving all those stranger portraits 🕵️♀️ I just love everything about her house & the way she decorated it. Everything about this is great. The home, all the art, whimsical little things, antique pieces and the cats and dogs. It is all just absolutely beautiful and has a soothing homey feel to it. The way she speaks about her husband and admired his collections is so sweet too.

As with most Homeworthy home tours, this one is both unique and fantastic. It's so refreshing to see people express themselves with color, eclecticism, whimsy, and individual style. If I were in need of a designer, Michelle would be on my shortlist... primarily because she understands that every home needs to be an authentic reflection of the owner's personality. No white-on-cream-on-grey boxes for her... and none for me, either. Many thanks!
It took me a minute to put my finger on why her home looked so unique and stunning, yet pulled together. She doesn't use window treatments! I also noticed in most of her portfolio, when she does a treatment, it's usually a roman shade. I wonder if she commented on this or why she makes that design choice? Either way, it gives a very architectural feel to have the windows be bare. Very interesting home. Lovely decor, great art and it feels so lived in and homey!
Looks crisp by day (with fine windows) but hellish by night--windows become black mirrors, and the feeling of being seen twice: by potential outsiders, and yourself, while trying to look out?--no thanks! Drawing curtains closed, cocooning, is too much a pleasure to deny for the sake of an architectural vibe (in my unhumble opinion).

While I LOVE to see the architectural elements of great windows visible, I also love the look of a beautiful, voluptuous fabric curtain pooling onto the floor, or the structured look of a fabric covered valence...and the options for pattern are nearly endless. And having no privacy...not an option. I live in the woods entirely secluded, with no neighbors...yet I don't want to look at a black abyss at night.
A lot of contemporary housing does this. Especially if views are great. I like unobtrusive blinds the best that aren't noticeable when drawn. She has those in some of the windows. Window treatments are functional.
I have a few photographic portraits of couples who I don't know. They are beautiful and, in many ways, I felt like I was rescuing them when I came across them at the trash and treasure market. Just think of all the gorgeous portraits that are abandoned and forgotten over the years! I love the painting of the strawberry tops. The colour palette and composition are quite sophisticated. This house tour was such a delight. This house has personality!
Really enjoyed this one. Old house, very artistically decorated. The owners personality is there everywhere. I loved the man cave - it appears her husband also has great taste and it is truly is a man’s room. Her style is sophisticated yet personality-driven which is an amazing combination.

The living room is amazing. I love that she takes something that hasn’t seen love in a while and incorporates it. My desk I use for sewing is like that. It was filthy, I think it was in a basement or a garage. The top is a heavy heavy marble. I cleaned it just with soap and water and it’s an amazing desk. It looks a little beat up but I would never re finish or paint it. It’s perfect.
Great tour and I love that it is filled with her and her husband's things, that is part of creating a home...many times decorators lose that direction and worry about following trends...

Good catch! Although I think not having curtains is impractical for temperature regulation (and energy saving) esp in an old house
