This detail was always inconsistent in Transformers lore. It is because sparks were introduced late in the franchise, so even if technically Cybertronians also have they souls in the chest, they commonly were capable to live as only the heads. General explanation is that head is where they brain module is located and some also have they sparks there (especially headmasters).

The original Bug Bite yellow beetle was the first transforming robot I ever owned. He may not have been a Transformer, but he kicked off an enduring love of Transformers.
Me aged 5 in 1985 "I want all the Transformers for my birthday" wake up on my birthday to find what looks like all the Go-Bots and the command center. 35 years later and I still remember turning to my mum and dad informing them they had got it all wrong. Despite that I so wish I still had them all they would take pride of place alongside my masterpiece Prime and Grimlock..................hmm masterpiece Go-Bots
The new end screen music threw me off! Pretty interesting character though - never known much about the Go Bots so hope there's more about them in future! Bug Bite is a very interesting one to start with though, with the Sideways-like dimension hopping. Now I'm trying to figure how to incorporate him into my Transformers stuff :P
The gobots had a really in-depth story that explained that they started as organic beings but upgraded themselves to robots over time and cykill was quite sadistic to a scientist that worked with the renegades. Just a shame that they lost to transformers

ah this takes me back. before the comic or cartoon, when i had to go to newry northern ireland to buy TF cause they wernt available in the republic and even THERE the toys'r'us lad tried to send me to an electronics shop for asking about "transformers" , my FIRST TF buy was between getting this lad or soundwave. suffice to say i got soundwave and the rest is history :D hard to believe back then all i wanted was jazz or skywarp, and ALL this collecting later i only got my first skywarp in the seige line ! :D good times.
I had just started watching Earthrise and was questioning this character. This is really interesting, great video! It’s stuff like this I love to learn.
You know, I am absolutely not a fan of the War For Cybertron Trilogy on Netflix (it feels slow and plodding, even when turned up to max speed) but Bug Bite was a really welcome addition to the Earthrise series. I enjoyed the mercenaries and how they fit into this story. That said, I still want a Gobot Scooter, because as a child I loved all the annoying voices Frank Welker did.
I honestly hated siege a lot. I legit couldn't watch it, Id put it on, then just do something else. I'm 4 episodes in on earthrise and yeah it's still not good.
Unpopular opinion but I kinda liked earthrise compared to any recent transformers media, VA def needed work except starscream he was perfect, but the one scene with cog dying was the highlight for me
The plot and storytelling is good and definitely a step up compared to recent tf media, especially the prime wars trilogy. The only thing that I can complain about is the voice acting, 90% of them are weak, even Prime’s and Megatron’s

I got Bugbite for Christmas one year as a kid. I always liked him, but thought it was weird he didn’t have a proper head. I used him for an upgraded bumblebee all the time. He was great, and I liked the graphics on the sides! I thought that was a nice touch.

A friend of mine had the original yellow "cabin head" go-bot toy. We always assumed it was just some weird version of Bumblebee similar to the original Ironhide and Rartchet toys without heads (which I guess is not too far off the truth, neither of them where originally created as Transformers). You forgot to mention that Takara, fearful of Bandai (who still owned the rights to the physical "Machine Robo" molds in Japan), decided NOT to use the Gobots names and storyline for the G1 recoloured minibots in the end. They removed all of that info and it was instead Botcon that officially connected those toys to the original, intended Gobots names etc. Also, Bugbite didn't move his brain module into his chest, as it was ALWAYS there. This was a reference to his original toy, where his "head" was the same car part as Bumblebee's chest.

A few little bits of trivia... G1 Bumblebee's alt mode is a VW Beetle while Bugbite's original alt mode was a VW Super Beetle. Bumblebee did upgrade to a first gen Super Beetle later on when he became Goldbug. Additionally, Bumblebee is a robot, while Bugbite (despite the original Go-bot commercial jingle) is a cyborg (the Go-Bots were cyborgs not robots).

It's awful. They should have called it, "Siege: Chapter 2" because "Earthrise" never happened. They even had the Coneheads as Cybertronian Tetra Jets

The problem is that Bandai owns the toys, and by extension the original character designs, of the Gobots.
Hasbro could do what they did before, just use recolors of existing Transformers characters.

been following the channel recently. Finally subscribing.
A few little bits of trivia... G1 Bumblebee's alt mode is a VW Beetle while Bugbite's original alt mode was a VW Super Beetle. Bumblebee did upgrade to a first gen Super Beetle later on when he became Goldbug.
Additionally, Bumblebee is a robot, while Bugbite (despite the original Go-bot commercial jingle) is a cyborg (the Go-Bots were cyborgs not robots).
Someday we’ll get to characters who haven’t shown up *anywhere* since the G1 toyline, so he’ll mention the toy and end the video.
