This is true not only in romantic relationship but all relationships. I'm a 65 yo female who has been through hell and back, empathy will destroy your life. Still people see things as disposable instead of just working it out. My recent relationship. I wanted her to invest. She had more problems then me and i accepted her problems but the only problem i had was communication. It takes time and investing.
Had a 1st date the other day; This was after a week of texting here n there--And through text I got the vibe that I didn't like her personality.
Anyway gave her the benefit of the doubt and met up at a restaurant on her birthday, where she also had friends there. Huge red flag (I never do 1st dates w/her friends there too)
So I plowed through it and tried to engage her as reasonably as possible, but w/her girl next to her, her attention was sporadic.
I stuck around for 30 min and got outta there.
Despite me liking her physically, that setup was insulting. But I didn't pay a dime and it was only a 10 min drive from my house.
I haven't texted a follow up text after that and neither has she.
Not caring is a must these days. Also, listen to your gut. If you can tell that something is off via initial texts, then you're probably right, and should abort at that point without even meeting her.
