I had a puppeteer audition with Henson Co. on Monday. Awaiting their decision if I go onto the next round.
This popping up on my feed, I'll take it as a good sign.
Good luck! Maybe update this comment when they get back to you?
Hope it goes well!
Good luck!
Best luck to you
Good luck!🤞
I love Stalder and Waldorf because the older I get, the more relatable they become.
wow.. you read my mind!
Don't talk to me! I am famous! Don't dislike my good good GOOD videos! Don't talk to me, dear jo
The Wilkins commercials are actually hilarious
it was once pointed out to me that they are an elderly gay couple, they are two catty old man who go to the theater together and talk shit about everyone... made me love those characters so much more...
@@sideofirish2 except they arent gay. both are shown to like women throughout the show. Waldorf even waits backstage for one of the female guests in season 1
Jim Henson was the Walt Disney of puppetry.
@@philiptomah4350 walt wasn't racist. You're projecting.
@@wendyokoopa7048 what books have you been reading to think that?
@@philiptomah4350 That's a lazy myth.
Indeed
@@philiptomah4350 we have to stop judging a great man for things that were common in their days. also, remember that for some reason people are only caring about the bad stereotypes of blacks in his cartoons while being a patriot for doing the same to Japanese and german people stereotypes during the war. the same applies to the lord of the rings is it kinda racist yeah but also the best fantasy novel ever made, that spawn modern fantasy novels and movies.
Jim Henson : a legend taken away from us too soon .
He was like watching a beautiful sunset...at noon
I remember the night that the announcement came out that Jim had died.
I was about 9-10 at the time, and I cried for hours.
I remember telling my mom that it wasn’t fair, and he (Jim Henson) was just a good person making happy things.
@@LouisSubearth LOOK AT IT! GAZE UPON MY EMPIRE OF JOY
Don't forget Mr Rogers.
The greatest legends die young
The first time I heard Yoda as a kid, I thought immediately, "It's Grover!" Now I'm imagining in an alternative timeline a Yoda that sounds like Kermit the Frog.
🤣🤣 I can hear it 😂😅
Or better.... Grover replaces Yoda. Grover the Jedi Master. Grover _is_ from outer space!
An important thing to remember about Jim Henson is that his first love was television, puppetry was just a tool that allowed him to get into the medium. He developed a deep respect for puppetry and puppeteers, but since he wasn’t a purist or upholding any kind of tradition he had the flexibility to experiment. He never stopped trying new techniques and pushing the limits of technology and imagination which helped him and his team to create exceptional content.
Henson truly was a creative genius. And like you said, he's an inspiration
I used to love Jim Henson’s The Storyteller, my favorite one is about the king who caught death. Fraggle Rock was a close second favorite.
That was the SOLDIER and Death.
Muppet Christmas Carol. It's one of the most wholesome things ever made and every Christmas involves a viewing of it lol
Between this and the Defunctland miniseries I have learned so much about Jim Henson over the past couple years. It’s so neat to get a more detailed look at some of this stuff!
Jim Henson was a master storyteller who had so many things he wanted to do and not enough time to do them. He was ahead of his time and embraced media unlike any other creator before or since. My favorite project of his was one of his last projects, The Jim Henson Hour, an anthology of stories ranging from fantasy and folklore to mythologies and Muppet silliness. Brilliant stuff. We weren't ready for it.
My favorite Jim Henson production would have to be the television show “Farscape“.
Came here to say this. Such a great show that tends to get forgotten.
@@illegal_space_alien I was very upset when Farscape got canceled because of Stargate, but found it kind of funny how both Ben Browder & Claudia Black ended up on Stargate… LOL
Loved Farscape one of those sci-fi series that got cancelled to early
@@CrazyMagyar Yeah... I remember that. At least they did get the chance to finish up later in The Peacekeeper Wars. Now THAT is how you end a series with a bang.
Same here
Let us never forget the legendary 1990 Ninja Turtles suits he made for the movie. #bringthemback
Yaaaaas! 🙌🏼
Yes please. I'd love that.
Yessss!
They were so good. Like tooooo good. 😂💯💪
When ever you see any interview he did you can tell how much of a humble man he was.
My favorite was watching the footage of his funeral. The people he worked with were so stunned to have him gone. He left a beautiful legacy.
The saddest ending ever to a TV show may have been how "Dinosaurs" ended.
I need to watch that again, after I'm done marathoning Stargate SG1, and the other two sequels (Atlantis and I think Infinity?)
I last watched Dinosaurs when it was airing
Yes! So good tho from beginning to end 💯✌🤎
I miss Jim Henson. Nobody was like him. His talent was just plain amazing. He was taken from us way too soon. 😭 Thank-you Jim, from the bottom of my heart, for your contribution to my life. I will always try to remember the lessons you touched us all with. Xoxo
Jim Henson was my hero. I cried when he passed away.
Farscape, one of my favorite Sci-fi series, had puppetry that was done by the Jim Henson Company. It really helps with bringing the puppet characters in that show to life.
omg yes. The puppeteers (and actual puppet) that combined to make Pilot in particular were so good.
Humans are superior!
I love Jim Henson and everything he did. Everything he touched was gold. TV, Movies, all excellent.
I was four in 1974 and my parents had a friend who was the lawyer for CTW, and I went to a taping of Sesame Street. Blew my four year old brain out of my skull.
Bonus Explosion: As I was leaving, a tall guy with a ten speed bike asked me to hold the door. I did, he left, and my Mom said, "That was Carroll Spinney."
I gave her a blank look.
"Big Bird."
I almost fainted. 🤣
Good memories.
Great video, CM👍🤘
honestly, my favorite work of the Jim Henson company will always be their educational stuff. there's just something about those shows (ie sesame street, between the lions) that just captures so much creativity. you just can't ignore their amazing positive impact on our culture at large!
Labyrinth still holds up to this day. He was such a great storyteller.
Yep. It's one of my wife's favorite movies.
Genuinely one of my favorite videos you've done. Such a fantastic man and inspirational story! Particularly to any creative person who wants to turn their passion into a business
Jim Henson is my childhood.
After watching this I've realized that everything he worked on and his company after he passed I enjoyed and have fond memories of at one point in my life. That is classic. That's leaving a legacy behind in the world. 💪💯✌🤎
Thank you for making this. I am a huge Muppets fan and I remember how hard it hit me when he died. If anyone has the opportunity to see the Jim Henson exhibit as it tours museums around the country I highly recommend it.
Jim henson has been a huge inspiration for my artistic vision. Sometimes it feels limitless while other times i fail to spark anything creative which is probably what he experienced countless times, dude was wicked smart.
I literally grew up with Jim Henson, from Sesame Street, to The Muppets, etc, till his untimely death. What he did was truly amazing, and influenced my morals, and my life. Very few things have done it like that.
In the late 80's there was an incredible show called "The Storyteller". It was a ground breaking fantasy based on old folklore. It's only 8 episodes and it was on Amazon Prime
Jim was a treasure and seems like everyone who worked with him loved him and they were a strong team of artists. He was always trying to be better and stretch the boundaries.
The Dark Crystal will forever be my all-time favorite movie, it just has truly stunning aesthetics. Although it makes sense why season 2 of the netflix prequel was canceled, its still tragic. Here’s to hoping that in 40 years the story is continued.
Yes it's so good and the Netflix series was bomb too. Sorry to hear it was canceled, I stopped subbing to Netflix after cuties. ✌🤎
@@ohla300 me too, I liked it, then when I heard that it's cancelled I was like this is an outrage what's next are they gonna cancel green eggs and ham the series???
"Care for a cup of Wilkins Coffee?"
"No I don't like coffee"
*Current Objective: SURVIVE*
Jokes aside, back in eighth grade we had to sing Rainbow Connection for a spring concert for chorus. That one song made me realize Jim Henson truly was a blessed gift to humanity. He touched so many hearts with his magic
We can’t forget Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas movie either! 1977🎄
We're not birds we're a jug band!!!
Barbecue & Where The River Meets The Sea are the best
I liked the rival band The Nightmare.
Ain't no hole in the washtub
Thanks God I was old enough to remember when Jim Henson was still alive. Great story.
Thank you Company Man! You really made my day with this one. So much love for Jim Henson!
The Muppet Show belongs in the Louvre
it is pure art
Fantastic video (as usual). I got a chance to meet him MANY, MANY MOONS ago when I was a courier growing up in NYC. Thanx for the feels!
When I was in middle school I read Treasure Island and later saw Muppet Treasure Island. Afterwards I couldn't read the book without imagining the Muppets. Also Story Teller was so good man, one of my favorite Jim Henson tv shows next to the original Muppet Show.
Favorite Muppet film: "The Great Muppet Caper" ("So I told my mom, 'Look, its my life, ya know, and if I wanna spend it walking around the beach naked'..." -Janice)
Favorite Muppet Show segment: "Veterinarian's Hospital" ("Laugh it up, nurse, these are the jokes!" -Rowlf)
Favorite Muppet: Kermit the Frog "The lover. The dreamer. And me." -Kermit
Oh man Fragile Rock was my favorite growing up...I loved that show...rest in peace to the legend that is Jim Henson 🙏🏽 ...
Great video! I only wish it was longer, the business side of Jim Henson rarely gets talked about, but it's an interesting part of history.
"they switched it from religious programming to family friendly stuff" may be my favourite sentence of all time 😂💛
Okay, that was funny...
I mean technically both are family-friendly though
@@johnnyjohnny2990 right, that's why the Passion of The Christ is rated G. Religion is super family friendly 😐
@@johnnyjohnny2990 teaching your children they'll die and go to hell if they don't uphold daddy's and mommy's beliefs is not family friendly. It's child abuse.
This man really lived the “do what you love” spirit and thats awesome.
10:58 when you realize the picture is actually of Big Bird and Oscar’s performer Caroll Spinney, and not Henson :/
I did a double take and had to look at the picture again. I knew something wasn't right. Thanks for the confirmation.
This was so interesting! You make the best videos @Company Man! I’m always one of your first viewers on every video as soon as you upload them! I respect your time and dedication to your research to learn the true inter-workings of these companies. I relay so many of these to my Papou (grandpa in Greek).
You should start another channel “BIOGRAPHY MAN” do famous historical figures, influential people etc.
Great video, well, I still view cryptocurrency as one of the best digital investments and I totally love the system and technology when it comes to the biggest crypto asset, Bitcoin. As a trader, I could understand that there are two sides to crypto, everyone has their opinion when it comes to choosing which side to choose, although I'm not against Hodl, but I see it as an old and strange strategy to win Making the market as if it is getting bearish Investors / traders their investment is always painful, which is why I see day trading as a main source of profit from the crypto sector or trade warnings copied from a professional trader like MR Elvis Smore, whose trades are very accurate and I was able to massively increase my profits from 0.4 BTC to 4.5 Btc in just 3 weeks with its signals. Elvis Smore runs a program for wealthy elites on how cryptocurrency trading works, helping them capitalize on the volatility of the cryptocurrency market and get more profits from the market. Back when television had a soul, Mr. Rogers was probably inspired by Jim Henson. I wonder if they ever met?
10:57 I know I'm just feeding the algorithm, but that's Caroll Spinney.
I watched a documentary on here about Jim Henson and it warmed my heart to see that Big Bird sang at his funeral
When I was a small boy, there was nothing more exciting than when The Muppets would appear on The Ed Sullivan Show (yes, I'm old!!).
There was a Christmas Special where they brought the Muppets, the Sesame Street characters, and Fraggilerock together. Jim Henson appears in a cameo at the end. That was pretty good.
Jim Henson created my favorite childhood shows and movies, this video brought back so many memories! I still enjoy watching and listening to the soundtrack of Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas.
Hi Company Man! Long time viewer here, love your vids. Lately I’ve noticed a lot of Justice stores have been disappearing from the malls around me and I don’t know what any of it’s about. I think you should make a video exploring the company’s history and their potential downfall, it would be super interesting!
I always had fun watching the Muppets during my childhood. As a matter of fact, I kind of like how the company really do practical effects which still stands today like what Brian Henson did to the movies like The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I wasn't very happy when Disney bought them but I was glad to watch all of the shows and movies on Disney + the last year. Haven't seen the original Muppet Show since the early 80s and it brought back a lot of memories. I did also enjoy Muppet Treasure Island too.
Growing up my parents put every Jim Henson product in front of me and my siblings. When we were little kids we watch Sesame Street when we were a little older we got into the Muppet show and then Fraggle rock and we loved all of them. I was a huge Jim Henson fan and I remember a documentary that the company made that showed how all the Muppets worked and I was just infatuated with it. Thank you for making this video, I love a lot of your videos but I never expected you to do one on Jim Henson. He seem like a genuinely good person and we just don’t have people like him around anymore which is really sad. Honestly I think most of the good people in the world in my lifetime we’re gone and we are left with people that just scream and fight about politics all the time now.
Muppet Babies was my first exposure to Jim Henson's creations as a kid. Loved that show.
This was great! Thanks so much!
Jim Henson was such an inspiration and what a creative spirit! Call to know that he was also a brilliant businessman. A lot of creative people get taken advantage of in the business world. Anything with gonzo is honestly my favorite, But I absolutely love the original Muppet movie and actually the new show on Disney+ is pretty hilarious as well 🤣🤣
Bear in the big blue house was my favorite early childhood show, had no idea!
Jim is my role model, he is the person I admire most in the world. Thanks for making a video about my favorite guy.
Can u make a Kwik trip video? They’re growing similar to how Culver’s did in the MidWest. Very loyal shoppers.
I worked there and people would travel across the border for the doughnuts and dairy. I heard something about a deal between the two of them and I think this would be a good collaboration. Also would make for an interesting video.
Agree man
They're both really good, love them
Kwik trip is so damn convenient and you can legit shop there
Culver's has such a unique menu and their food is an A tier for fast food
@@sirllamaiii9708 for sure

They are a better shopping experience than most full sized grocery stores.
wait, is kwik trip in the midwest of any relation to quicktrip in the southwest?
I don’t know why I clicked on this, I already finished Defunctland TV’s documentary about him.
The Wilkins coffee commercials are absolutely hilarious.
_Dinosaurs_ was the best. *“We're gonna need another Timmy!”*

Really cool how it's linked to Babe. That movie was pure childhood
Agreed. People tend to think of it as "just a kids' movie," but it's just a really good, well-performed film.
Although it’s not as well known, the puppets in Animal Farm were also awesome in the way that Babe’s were. My sister and I grew up on both. Legendary movies.
4:34 "The show became a massive cultural phenomenon"
DA-DAAAAA DADADA
I can't hear the word phenomenon and not think about that song.
It’s doo
Original Muppet Babies 1985 ! Some of my best memories as a kid, was watching that show . Rest In Power JIM !
When it comes to the story inbetween the EMTV deal and Henson's sale of The Muppet Show and Bear in the Big Blue House assets to Disney (and just those two, as Sesame Street characters were sold back to Sesame Workshop, and Henson kept the rest), it's a little more complicated than that, but it is essentially how it ended up. What happened was several other companies were bidding for the rest of Henson during the EMTV sell off. Disney WAS very interested in the company at that point, and had bid on it, to the chagrin of the fanbase. I believe Sony and Warner Bros were also in the mix, but the most interesting potential Muppets owner was a partnership between Classic Media and Sesame Workshop. I'm still not sure who would control what portion of Henson or the Muppets, that was never hammered out because that's when the Henson Company bought it back. The Henson Company basically sold The Muppets (and just them and Bear, Fraggles and all those Creature Shop movies were still Henson) because they needed funding for the series of projects they were working on. Unfortunately, while Henson did have a bunch of projects that were finished, they had a tendency of announcing quite a bit that never happened. Then there was the DREADFUL and thankfully short lived Henson X Weinstein Brothers partnership that only resulted in 3 DTV CGI movies and a mercifully unproduced Fraggle Rock movie, which the famous terrible at their job brothers screwed with every step of the way. They had weird footing from there on out, and you know that movie "Happytime Murders" that everyone hates? Took them 10 years to get that off the ground, making it all the more heartbreaking. And things were looking up with the Netflix Dark Crystal series...until Netflix canned it after the first season because...well... partially that THING that happened in 2020 ruining the production schedule.
We were on the way home from fishing at a small pond when over the radio we heard the news of Jim Henson's death. Needless to say it was a quiet trip. He went too early, but boy he left a wealth of creativity! There will not be another.
"Helllloo, Everybody! This is Grover" (my all time favorite Muppet)
Thanks for this one. There was a lot I didn't know about Jim Henson. Loved the history and background on his family!

I loved fraggle rock. I remember in 2008, on my birthday, i got to have a job interview at Jim Henson's studio. I actually didn't care either way if i got the job, but i was thrilled, because i knew i would get the tour of the place.
I love The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth!
Yes!
"Not the Momma!"
The muppet show was part of my childhood. When i started to rewatch some of the episodes now i never realize that the show had a lot of adult humor and it's funny as heck! The one thing you didn't mention was about one of the final programs he made was called "The Jim Henson Hour" ... I believe it was broadcasted either on abc or nbc. I thought it was pretty unique with different small stories per show using different muppet characters.
I was a small kid when he passed away. I will admit I cried. Hard.
Same.
You should do a video on the downfall of LG phones. They decided to stop the business because they can't compete with IPhone and Samsung . They were once leaders
Bear and the big blue house was incredibly wholesome. I used to watch it almost every day.
I love Henson so much I watch his story multiple times on youtube and can’t wait till the biopic
Jim Henson was born in my hometown of Greenville, MS!
The Wilkins commercials are absolutely hilarious! How can you not love them?
Muppet Christmas Carol is my favorite movie of all time. I absolutely have to watch it every Christmas eve but I watch it any time of year. And I love Fraggle Rock, Muppets Take Manhattan, so many more.

One of your better episodes. Thank you.
Big bear in the big blue house was a forgotten memory until now. What a trip that show was
Sesame Street and Labyrinth! I am obsessed with Labyrinth and David Bowie's portrayal of Jared, The Goblin King. (I always wonder what Jim Henson was thinking about when he helped design those tights.)
I loved the commercials. I had no idea about these until a couple years ago.
Statler and Waldorf were trolls before it was cool
Great Video Company Man I hear there will be a Jim Henson Biopic in a few years and for anyone who wants a deeper dive into the more creative side I would recommend the Defunctland series on Jim Henson where it talks about the full History of Sesame Street and a lot more about the other shows
As the Count on Sesame Street used to say, "I am the greatest counter since Formica a-a-ahh" and then eery lightning flashed.
Jim Henson and company has been a huge influence on my own upbringing and creative spark and growth.
My favorite Jim Henson creations are Seseame Street, Fraggle Rock, and the Dark Crystal.
Oh my gosh, I subscribe to Defunctland and this is like a crossover with two of my favorite channels!
Kevin should also consider putting his stuff on blu ray given his talent, his skills, his care his passion there's a good chance they'd sell. Sadly RUclips isn't a sure thing with some of their shady behavior and sites like curiosity stream, rumbl and odysee could dry up.
Those Wilkins coffee commercials are hilariously violent
I was hoping for some Farscape love. Such an awesome show and a major inspiration for the cinematic version of the guardians of the galaxy.
