This an excellent guide for people traveling into and departing Malta. Amazing! I can see why security wouldn't want any filming since it's a sensitive security place. It's not like a shopping mall or restaurant where nobody really cares about security.
Great information la. Should be really helpful for visitors. My tip would never be in the middle lanes at security coming in. Always use the outside lanes. Cheers Steve. Good luck everyone. Love malta!
Good, clear video. An alternative to the food court in the basement (or higher prices once through security) is Macdonalds, which is a pleasant 5-10 minute walk beyond the coach parking area on the arrivals side of the terminal, with plenty of outside seating.
Mary 🇦🇺🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️ hi Steve, excellent information for someone coming to Malta for the first time, like I have already said beautiful airport for such a small island,💕💕🇲🇹💕💕👍👍👍🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️well done
I visited Malta in 2017 and the airport has undergone many renovations since then... It looks very nice. Excellent informations Steve, it's very important for those arriving and departing from Malta.
Hey thank you for the message , I sent him a copy of your message, weathere changed here also it was a beautiful day, I walking up to naxxar and back about 1 and half hour round trip in the countryside
What a great video Steve, and bloody hell hasn't it changed. Looks fantastic, so clean and one other thing I noticed was the lack of police/security. That's not a criticism. Do you remember Steve, back in the eighties when you arrived you had to collected your bags and YOU had to walk up and down a 70 ft long bench where the blokes would put your bags on and YOU would have to push and shove people to get to your bags. The days of coming out of the airport and walking across the road where you would find an old banger with the keys under the matt and drive off to Mellieha at two in the morning. Great times.
Yes I remember so well there are loads of airport security in fact i said in the video I got stopped !! I cut some of that interaction out to be fair to them !!
@@EnglishmaninMalta Yes, I remember in the video Steve you saying that you were stopped but I was trying to say that its nice Not to see loads of police. I think it can be a little frightening for the nervous passenger. In the UK it can be a bit unnerving to see many police with machine guns around every corner. Makes you think that it's all going to kick off any minute. As I said Steve, I wasn't criticising just observing. I wish I had taken a few photos of those Baggage handlers all those years ago, people wouldn't believe it now a' days. Great video Steve, thanks again. Enjoyed it very much.
Thanks for the info Steve>.I am travelling to Malta for first time soon with Maltese husband and in laws. Wonder if you have ever done a video of general tips for first time travellers- how to thrive in Malta for first timers! Bless you!
No i do not have a video like that !! Malta is one of the easiest countries I know to get around, most speaking English and lots of normal food and the lifestyle is European so there is nothing to worry about
No problem 👍 safe journey, and hope you enjoy your time on our beautiful island, I have many videos packed with useful information of our beautiful island 🏝
Realy enjoyed looking round ,and you gave excellent clear information for people Visiting Malta, It was only a small airport in the 90sj and we arrived 1 30am, and didn’t arrive at the hotel In sliema till nearly three ,as the driver who was supposed to pick us up, got a bit Pie-eyed, we saw the funny side of it. Thank you for all your effort, hope la and friends arrived safely at Liverpool.
Hi Steve great informative video some things I didn’t know. It’s worth saying that it’s the X1 bus needed for those wanting to go to Gozo. And for luxury in the airport there’s the Lavalette suite at 40 € a pop.
Great video Steve. The walk to the hire cars in the multistory carpark always gets me. Welcome stretch after a 21 hour flight, but dragging the bags is a pain. :-)
78 million passengers last year.....unbelievable. Mind you, sunday night at least 20 planes flew over Paradise bay resort, within about 2 hours, couldnt believe it !
EXCELLENT VLOG FOR MALTA VISITORS ✈️ 🏆 👏 The helpful info is in the detail. Proset Steve. Must say, that airport changed a lot since last time I went through it 😊 NO sign of "jet bridges" though 🤔. Thanks Steve 🚶🎥👏 Cheers 👍🇲🇹❤️🇪🇺
You say about the white taxis, I was over in Malta about a week again and got stung by one, told me the fare was going to be €5, then tried to get me and my daughter to book him for a day, we said NO, but he then said now €5 each because we didn’t want to book him for the day, at €50 each x
Yes sadly they had a bad reputation in the past...thats why the apps are doing so good, seems things did not change much, I walked up from the ferry terminal in Gozo, Its also A Palace to take care
Good video Steve, the airport is bigger than i thought, i live about 20min from Stansed airport you can fly to Bangkok via Dubai very handy i try to stay away from big airports like Heathrow.
I been a few times to stanatead, how much are you paying to bkk via dubai, There is also singapore airways and china from heathrow ...Emirates is a very good company
Thanks Steve, good video. We're coming in July. This is our first time overseas in 14 years which happened to be Malta. We'll also have our young daughter in tow, so are quite anxious about the trip. Hopefully everything will be OK, though the airport has changed somewhat.
Hi Steve if I'm going to st Paul's is it bus to valleys then bus to St Paul's or does the bus go straight to St Paul's thanks for showing us around it sure has changed .
Oh yes, this is what I remember from our - ten times to Malta😄! My wife is Handicapped so we normally became taken through at arrival to the Airport - wife in a wheelchair, and I was normally allowed to follow. And also in a "Container" to, and from the plane. We became met by our Danish Guides and three locally hired busses, taking us from our direct Danish Plane to the also Danish owned, Mellieha Park/Village, and back again when we left. We also have "Danish language Calls" in the Airport 😁, when we leave again! One Danish, Maltese married Guide is also The Representative for Danish: Atlantic Airways on Malta, and the Danish speaker in the Airport System! When arriving at Malta, we are normally going out where You enter again, going to the waiting busses. It seems that something is being made, with the blue "wall" being raised? At home in Cph. we have "Wings" so you are able to leave and enter the plane at the same level, but - eventually very looong distances to walk, if a Gate is far away (We have a Service Facility for Handicapped in the Airport, taking us round in electric transports, if lucky I was also able to join my wife at arrival)!! Copenhagen is the Main Airport for Scandinavia and also accepting the huge Airbus380. Finn. Denmark
Thank you for this video, as It has been very helpful for me. And looking at the taxi prices, even the white taxis, I compared how much I have been charged by my holiday company I booked with for a private transfer. As I booked a taxi transfer for myself and my wife, from the airport to Sliema on arrival, and again for our departure home. The cost is £52.21 (61.00 Euros) for both journeys. But, then, I suppose I am paying for an on-the spot pick up each time for us. Rather than us arriving, and trying to find a taxi via an app, finding out how to get one, and what the prices are for them. Plus, is the vehicle big enough for all of our luggage? With the buses, I bought 2 x Tallinja cards with photos from the UK, before I come to Malta, and I am hoping to top them both up via a card, when I arrive in Malta. They were not cheap buying them, and having them sent to me here in the UK.
Shame cuz I think you could just get a bus card from the airport Taxi and good for me and last time two people with two big bags and hand luggage, the app is very easy to work, its doesn't seem you were too much over charge for personal service and peace of mind someone is waiting for you
Thanks for the great info, really helpful! 😊 What about the roadworks around the airport area everybody is talking about the last 2 years? Are they finished? Was thinking about the potential delays, so I might have to plan accordingly in order to avoid any risk of being too late during departure
Now I think the x buses are so called express with only a few stops to the village you are going too this may help www.maltairport.com/passenger/getting-here/bus-service/
When arriving with three Maltese busses, finding your luggage and go to Departure, didn't allow me to Explore the Airport, except what was needed to reach the waiting area, and when Arriving, getting out to the Marked, Danish and waiting busses. As Danish Pensioners we would accept: "Special offer for You, Sir", at any time, so at one time we came back and our, known Guide in the Transfer Buss to Mellieha hadn't even noticed we had been gone! Our longest stay was for 7 weeks, but mostly for 14 days. I would have loved to bring my Brompton, folding bike, but my dear wife wouldn't allow it, sadly (they drive in the wrong side on narrow roads with much traffic, though I tried to tell her that the bike had been built to ride in the wrong side!)! By that, how about a visit to the Airplane Museum, which I sadly never managed to reach? Finn. Denmark 🥲
I loved the old airport, where I used to see my family waving from the balcony ❤
I first arrived there in the 70 s its very different now
This an excellent guide for people traveling into and departing Malta. Amazing! I can see why security wouldn't want any filming since it's a sensitive security place. It's not like a shopping mall or restaurant where nobody really cares about security.
