Usually RUclips videos diminish my ideas because it seems “to hard” but nope. This is something I actually feel like I can commit to thanks to this tutorial 🥺💖
I just received the gift of my great-great-great aunt's handmade punch rugs from the 1930s. They are still hard-wearing, reversible, and not glued down at the back. This art medium is INCREDIBLE.
@@victoriawalker3891 ooo imagine the dust it would collect if just hanging, youd have to beat the shite out of it every once in a while depending where you live/dust in the air. its so dusty where i live so :T
Today I thought about painting my nails, sewing, reading, doing my makeup, drawing, knitting, playing guitar and making a rug. What did I do? I laid all day and watched youtube vidss
hiiii! someone may have suggested this already, but when stretching your fabric over the canvas, try stapling from the middle outward rather than starting from the ends. It may help you get it perfectly stretched faster! (source: i watched too much Baumgartner Restoration at one point)
If you don't glue the back, you're going to be doing that trimming step every other week. Gotta glue the back. Preferably with hot glue. To a marine-grade secondary backing.
Oh I bet it’s so satisfying to punch the yarn through. Was just thinking about what I’m going to do with all the acrylic yarn I have lying around. This is perfect
Can you pleaseeeee talk about how you choose colors ? You really have an eye for it and I can’t figure it out. I love the colors you chose and they seem random but they work so well together
@buggy627, you can use almost any colour combo, as long as you stick to either cool colours (colours that have blue undertones) or warm colours (with yellow undertones). Just google cool or warm colours and you'll find a chart.
Literally woke up with a horrible anxiety attack. Your video was so helpful for me to calm down. You’re a special calm soul! And now I wanna make a rug!! Lol that is beautiful !!!
I am SO glad I found this video. I have been looking for a non machine version video of making a rug for so long, because I knew it had to be done somehow before that, but I was starting to think it wasn't possible. Thank you!!!
when i was in grade school, we used to have this rug making project but we used plastic sack yo punch in yards with this metal bronze colored puncher...but now the innovation is really really amazing
When stapling a cloth to the frame if you staple the fabric to the outside edges of the frame rather than the front it is more stable working near the edges. Also if you start with one staple in the center of the side, then opposite center and then the other two centers. Work from the center to the corners working opposite sides.
Wow. So glad I found you and your art. Never realised a rug would be so easy and relaxing at the same time. It is lovely and super cosy on you toes. No doubt it will be taken over by your fur babies too.
I hope your happy after seeing you needle punch and loving your process I had to buy a small kit to try it out. Crochet is sitting all alone why I learn and watch every RUclips. I guess I’ll say thank you I have the right to take it back if I can’t do it.
I did a kit as a teen for my grandma! We added a canvas/webbing edge around the perimeter of the back but I like your method better! I have my granddaughter the purple rose one I made my grandma and my grandson was kinda disappointed I didn’t have one for him! Now I am motivated! Thanks!
Btw, the best reason to glue is if anything snags a loop it will pull out many stitches. Especially with a dog laying on it, one little claw snag means a mess.
Wow. Tufting guns and the pokey needle thing are soooooo much faster than rug hooking. I've only done hooking and its take hours and hours and days and days to do each individual strand by hand
I don't think you could ever be boring! You are lovely and so wonderful! Thank you for this video. I could have watched you make the whole rug in fast speed. 👍🌞🤗
I’m not sure if anyone else has said this or not but for future reference, like if you wanna buy more of those ‘thick needles’ they’re called quite a few things, ‘darning needles’ ‘big eye needles’ and ‘yarn needles’ are the most common names for them, and they come in different sizes. They sell both metal and plastic ones but the metal ones are better quality and not much more expensive- they’re very cheap though.
You are so talented….never thought I made a rug but it seems so easy….the other day I was thrifting and found this good size of yarns including Chenille yarn at a $1.50 cause it was 50% of 3 dollars . Here were I live in Florida some thrift store do 50% off and the good will does 25% off on all items except cloth on good will and the one I like on cloth is from 30-50% depending on how they feel….love you and your content…..wish my daughter were more like you….😊❤❤❤

My grandma taught me this eons ago. She made all sorts of beautiful rugs. I tried it back then and it drove me crazy because I kept punching too big of holes through. That half finished basket of kittens rug stayed in my closet for years . 🤣I might try it again since I have a little more patience these days .

The only thing she can’t do is not be amazing at everything
Make a rug
Beautiful, I am now 58 and did this when i was14..... Still have my old needle, BUT bought myself a new one. Love your work. God bless you.
You did such a great job 😁✌🏿

The simplicity of this craft is TOO GOOD to miss out on. This may be my next fixation
Honestly, when it was still on the frame, the back looked like a framed piece of art! I could totally see it just like that on the wall!
Is no one gonna talk about how her jacket matches so good with the rug? 😍 Love the results!

I'm not at all an expert but picking colors based on color theory will work wonders

I do punch needle patches with a much smaller needle. It is one of my favorite pass times. It is very relaxing
wait is there any difference with doing this with a gun than your way?
I feel like you could definitely use like a bias tape around the edges to finish them off in a contrasting color and that would be super cute too!
